A perfect mix of realism and arcade

User Rating: 9 | GRID PS3
Race driver grid is the most fun ive had on a non-free roam racer for a long time, its not so realistic that its not fun like NFS shift but the great terminal and visual damage adds some exciting fun to street courses in particular.

The Good: outstanding presentation on cars and scenary, full car damage makes for great fun in tight courses, flash backs are helpful, buying and selling cars on ebay is cool(buying=minor risk factor), drifting is fantastic!, earning money from sponsors is very satisfiying, demolition derby mode is fun,AI is almost spot on, lengthy campaign/story mode

The Bad: 24hr le mans are a bit unbalanced, no performance mods for your cars,no split screen multiplayer.

For its bargain price of £9.99 Grid is an outstanding buy with very good values and will keep you playing for over 50 hours.I struggled to find any bad points and the above are the only real points for improvement.

Most races in grid are quite balanced with other racers being neither too passive or to aggressive but agressive enough to fairly frequently give you damage that effects your racing.

I love the ebay system, when selling you can set a buy it now price and a starting bid + how long you want it to be on sale for and how popular it is depends on its mileage, amount of wins and amount of wrecks.

When you buy a car you need for a new championship you can get it cheaper on ebay but if its been wrecked alot it may have some permanent minor damage e.g pulls very slightly to the right even when fully repaired.

When you need money for a new car to enter a new championship you can either race championships that your current car is quailified for or you can do driver offers, where you are provided with a car and get money just for appearing and more for completing a bonus objective( sounds too easy but you earn more from a normal race)

Sponsors give you money for different circumstances e.g finsih higher than 5th, finish higher than 3rd, finish the race etc

race types vary from 1 on 1 down a mountain side to 20 formuale 7 cars on the nurburgring and event demolition derbies. all types of race are fairly ballanced and the difficulty is normally just right but every now and again you come across some particularly difficuly racers that add some excitement to the game.
For some wierd reason one specific race type 24hr le mans is quite unbalanced and you'll find the same type of car as you speeding past you on a strait even though you are undamaged or some super cars going round a wet hairpin withough braking yet if you try this then your totalled before you can say " race driver grid" luckily there is the option to skip le mans :)

so for the most part race driver grid is a well balanced fun racer with excellent damage and car management.
