not only surprisingly good, but exceptionally well, not just for fans of the series, but for anybody that loves games

User Rating: 9 | Ghostbusters: The Video Game X360
First off, anybody worried about the transition of the movie to the video game can rest assured that the Ghostbusters video game is as faithful to the series as can be. Not only has the game/movie barrier been crossed without utter failure, it's been crossed with a stunning amount of success. Many of the same people in the movies play the voices of the characters in the game, and their visual likeness is just as accommodating. Fans of the series will see traces of the films influence EVERWHERE in the game. The games dialogue maintains the witty nature of the films. The levels are built well and the scripted pacing really works well, just like a well told movie. Anybody that was ever a fan of the series should not pass this up. However, non-fans should also take interest in the game.

What's truly impressive is the destructable environments and physics engine. Though the game doesn't run at the smoothest framerate possible, it's not choppy at all except for rare times. The levels are destructible and this is essential toward the guilty pleasure feeling this game creates. If you ever watched the films you know they leave a mess wherever they go. You get so caught up in the action of catching the ghosts that by the time you see the last one screaming as it goes into the trap that you then hear silence... then the steam of the heat of your tools, the beeping of the trap, then you look around at the environment with a "wow, did we just destroy the entire area".

People should be impressed by the level of detail that went into this game, through and through. Sure it's not as pretty as say MGS4 but there's a lot more game here than the prettiest games you'll ever play. This is definitely an experience that shouldn't be passed up. The characters and settings are rich and so is the experience in playing this game.
