A great sequal in every way, the definitive Geometry Wars game!

User Rating: 9.5 | Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 X360
The original Geometry Wars way back on PGR 2 was a great diversion, and it's full imagining on Live Arcade with the release of Xbox 360 was a very fun addictive game, and a great steal at 400 MS Points. But Both of those versions seemed like test runs, little demos to just release something fun and see how it panned out. Now that the series has a loyal following, it was time to release the true game of Geometry Wars.
Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 takes the simple formula of the original and amps it up by adding more enemies, score multipliers and powerups to add more depth and creativity, but not only do they bulk up the original Evolved mode of play, but they add on five more game modes to round out the experiance and provide something for everyone. This would be great as it is, but they also supply both co-operative and adversarial multiplayer modes for up to four players to truly expand the experiance.
The six types of play are each unique different experiances, besides the Evolved gametype from the first game they add new modes such as "King", where the only way to shoot is if you are inside a protective orb, but once inside the orb will shrink untill it vanishes, leaving you open to attack untill you reach a new safe haven. "Pacifism" withdrawels the ability to shoot completely and you must fly around the arena weaving in and out of enemies, the only means of attack are gates that once you pass through create a micro explosion that will take out any nearby enemies. "Waves" is a gametype where dozens of enemies all attack in straight patterns from all directions, adding up to hundreds onscreen at once and really testing your skill. The additional three are good as well and everything comes together to provide unique fun experiances in which to try to master.
Multiplayer is only on the same console but still loads of fun, every mode if playable for up to four players, all in both adversarial and co-operative styles, add into that team options and also the ability to just bring it down to a single ship where one player controls flight and other controls the firepower and you have many options and loads of fun play.
The original game was 400 MS Points and this offering is the true worthy sequal and full fledged offering in the series, adding loads of options, and gameplay additions I think the extra 400 Points is truly worth it. If you had an interest in the original or just want a fun game to play with some buddies I recommend checking this one out.
