Cheats & Guides

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Cheats For Nintendo 64

  1. Force The Poe Sisters To Reappear

When you encounter the Poe Sisters, they'll disappear like normal Poes if you try to Z-Target them. If you throw a Deku Nut, however, they'll be forced to reappear and leave themselves wide open.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  2. ReDead Invisibility

ReDeads detect you based on sound, not sight. If you equip the Iron Boots beforehand, however, they won't react at all. This is because the game registers the sound of Link's slower walking animation differently from that of his regular walking. As long as you don't pull out or put away a weapon, you'll be completely invisible to them.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  3. Ganondorf's Weaknesses

While beating Ganondorf with your most powerful weapons is the obvious strategy, he is surprisingly vulnerable to more mundane items in your inventory. An empty bottle will reflect his projectiles during the first stage of the final battle. Ganon's final form is vulnerable to Deku Nuts, which comes in handy if you don't want to use your slower, more powerful weapons. Note that the bottle strategy even works on Phantom Ganon in the Forest Temple boss fight.

  4. Flipping Tektites

If you're having trouble with Tektites, try hitting the ground with the Megaton Hammer instead. If the shockwave connects, the Tektites will flip over on their backs, leaving them wide open to be killed.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  5. Free Lon Lon Milk

If you have an empty bottle, find a cow and play Epona's Song. It'll reward you by filling up the bottle with Lon Lon Milk.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  6. Repelling Keese

If you're in an area with a lot of Keese, try equipping the Skull Mask. As long as you have it on, the Keese won't attack you.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  7. Bunny Hood At Night

If you have to cross Hyrule Field at night, equip the Bunny Hood. As long as you have it on, the Stalchildren won't appear.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  8. Unlimited Gold Skulltula Tokens

First you need to get Bombs, the Song of Storms, and the Boomerang. Then go to Hyrule Castle and jump in the moat so the guards won't see you. Drift until you see a shallow corner. Climb up and you will see a tree. Play the Song of Storms, and a hole will open up beneath it, then jump down. There will be several walls that can be blown open with a Bomb. One of these has a Gold Skulltilla hidden behind it. CAREFULLY, kill the spider, then stand right in front of the circle that sends you back to the surface. Next, throw the Boomerang at the Token and as soon as it hits the Token step back onto the circle. You will be teleported back to the surface. If you did this right then the Gold Skulltulla should still be down there. Repeat this process until you have 100 or more Tokens.

  9. Hidden Bowser broach

If you look at the broach that Malon is wearing, you will notice that it is actually Bowser's face.

    Contributed by: Megaman1981

  10. Use the Lens of Truth without using magic

Play the Song of Storms. As soon as you regain control of Link, use the Lens of Truth. If this is done correctly, the white border around the magic meter will not flash and you can have the Lens on without depleting your magic.

    Contributed by: Lahar

  11. Pass through objects

This is a very unusual glitch that requires you to interact with the cartridge itself. When you come up to a character or object that's blocking your path (such as Mido or the Kokiri blocking the forest exit at the beginning of the game), you must pull up VERY gently on the left side of the cartidge. If done so correctly, the screen will become a bit fuzzy, and if you move forward, you can use this time to walk through people and objects that aren't completely solid. This trick gives you access to portions of the game you wouldn't be able to get to until later.

    Contributed by: MSuskie

  12. Giant monsters

If you continously kill the same type of monster, you will encounter a giant version of the type you've been killing. This works on Stalchildren, Guays, and Leevers.

    Contributed by: gs68

  13. Gossip Stone Fairies

There are fairies hidden inside the Gossip Stones. You have to play a song to draw them out, and the kind of fairy you get is determined by what song you play. The Song of Storms results in a fairy that replenishes both your life and magic, while any non-warp song grants you a regular fairy.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  14. The Bald Fisherman

If you go to the Fishing pond as an adult you will notice he is wearing a hat, if you get it just right, you can catch his hat, he will get mad at you, but from then on you will never see him wearing the hat again.

    Contributed by: Xeht

  15. Infinite money at will

In the past, there is a beggar in the Hyrule Castle Market that asks you to sell him things with C. In the future, that same beggar is relocated to Kakariko Village, which is perfect for arguably the fastest non-Skulltulla money trick in the game.

Behind the old lady's potion shop in Kakariko lies a grotto, and within it, a fish. Bring a bunch of empty bottles to the grotto, then enter and re-enter the grotto until you're able to fill all of your bottles with fish. The beggar will buy each fish for 100 rupees, and you can repeat this process as many times as you wish until your money is maxed out. This obviously works best when you have the Giant's Wallet and are able to carry a maximum of 500 rupees at a time.

    Contributed by: UltimaterializerX

  16. Scarecrow Song Encore

After watching the ending to the game, leave the game on during the "The End" screen. After a little while, you'll hear whatever Scarecrow Song you composed being played over and over again in various forms.

    Contributed by: UltimaterializerX

  17. Make the Sinking Lure legal

This will make the fish you catch with the Sinking Lure be legal, as if you had caught them without it. After getting the Sinking Lure, go to the fisherman and say to him "Let's talk about something else". He will then allow you to use the Sinking Lure, and the fish you catch with it will no longer be noted as being "Illegal".

Note: You will still need to find the Sinking Lure each time you come back.

    Contributed by: velemi

  18. Kill ReDeads Easier

Play the Sun Song anywhere there are ReDeads to freeze them, so they won't attack you.

    Contributed by: ratdogz

  19. Roll through spiked obstacles.

You know those spiked objects (like those found in Ice Cavern) that slide around on the ground? If you roll before you touch them, with proper timing they will pass harmlessly through you.

    Contributed by: MarioBros90

  20. Re-use bugs

Let a bug go near a bean bed, but make sure you're not too close. Once one bug goes in, catch one of the other two, and you'll have as many bugs as you need.

Contributed by: meatwad ate a pikmin

  21. Hidden secret in Hyrule Castle courtyard.

When you arrive in the Hyrule Castle courtyard, look at the left window. Now take out your slingshot, and shoot the potted plant. Someone will yell at you to stop doing that, and they will also throw a bomb at you.

    Contributed by: Megaman1981

  22. Hidden Nintendo characters in Hyrule Castle.

When you enter the Hyrule Castle courtyard, look at the right window. If you look inside the window, you will see paintings of Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Luigi, and Bowser.

    Contributed by: Megaman1981

  23. Never Lose Tunic or Shield

To not lose your tunic or shield when you are eaten by a like-like, put on the kokiri(green) tunic and the mirror shield. Since both of these are one of a kind and can't be re-bought,the like-like can't eat them.

    Contributed by: gamergirl1989

  24. Sinking Lure

If you want to easily catch really big fish in the fishing pond without having to spend countless hours, then make sure you have caught the "lunker" fish as an adult and have obtained the gold scale. Now go to the fishing pond and you will find a new lure in one of three places: 1.) in the feeder creek, 2.) in the grass around the perimeter of the area, or 3.) on the log jutting out of the pond. Once you find this lure, try fishing with it. It is irresistible to fish, so catching a 20 pounder will be no problem. However, if you set any records by using this lure, the fish you have caught will be noted as illegal on the aquarium and at the record board in Link's house.

  25. More Bottles

First equip a bottle, then go find something to put in a bottle (example: fish, bug, blue fire, fairy, or anything else you can put inside a bottle). Now, hit the C Button to catch the item and hit start directly after hitting C button. Select an item you do not want (Claim Check is recommended) and equip it instead of the bottle you were catching the item with. Press start again and you will see Link still catching the item. Now you have an extra bottle. Do this on all of your weapons and you will have 24 bottles! (Note: do NOT save after doing this or else you CANNOT get your weapons back!)

    Contributed by: DBM11085

  26. Free Hylian Shield

When you're a kid you can get the Hylian Sheild for free instead of wasting 80 rupees. First go to the graveyard in Kakariko village and wait for night. Then pull the tombstones that have flowers in front of them back and go down their holes. When You find the right one it will have a treasure chest inside. Inside that is the Hylian Shield.

    Contributed by: Coolmoppynix

  27. Butterfly Fairies

If you touch a butterfly with a Deku Stick, it'll transform into a fairy.

    Contributed by: discoinferno84

  28. Use any item as an Ocarina

For speedruns or just fun you can use any item as an Ocarina without having an Ocarina! Catch a bug in a bottle. Then drop it and catch it again. Then without moving backflip and while in the air press the button the bug is in and then the button of the item you want to play. If done correctly the player should be playing the item as an Ocarina! This is extremely useful for speedruns or if you don't have an Ocarina.

  29. Debug/Error Mode

NOTE: There is always a possibility your game data can be corrupted, so do this at your own risk!

Start a game in the Temple of Time, then gently and SLOWLY pull up on the left side of the game cartridge. If you do it slow enough, the computer will become lagged, Link will jump all over the screen, and the sound will become very corrupted. If you let this happen for a few seconds, the N64's processor will become lagged and the game will lock up; there's going to be a small yellow bar that will appear in the top-left of the screen. When you get the small yellow bar to appear, there are some commands that you need to input on the controller to get the "debug" code to appear on the screen. This will also show the time and date that your particular game was made. Enter these button combos to make the code appear onscreen:

    1: L + R + Z
    2: Control Pad Up + C-Down
    3: C-Up + Control Pad Down
    4: Control Pad Left + C-Left
    5: C-Right + Control Pad Right
    6: A + B + Start

The debug/error code won't be shown unless you push each button listed. Example: in the first step, you must push the Z button while HOLDING the L and R buttons.

  30. Free Masks At The Mask Shop

This won't work unless you've already sold the Keaton mask to the guard outside of Death Mountain. Once you've done so, before getting the Skull Mask you can ask to borrow the Keaton Mask again for free. Once you've done so, leave the shop, go back in and ask to trade masks. You can trade the Keaton mask for the Skull mask (he'll say you have to pay, but you won't) for free! It even makes the sound of you giving him the rupees, but you'll still have all your money. The same works for the Spooky mask and the Rabbit hood, you just have to trade the mask that you sold before it.

  31. Get the golden scale as a kid!

When you are a child, go to the fishing pond and start fishing like normal. Keep fishing until you get a fish that’s big enough to earn a heart piece. Instead of going to the fishing owner, go into the middle of the pond. Face towards the owner in the water and hold Z + R (lock and shield). Don’t let go and swim and run to him. Once you reach him, talk to him without letting go of Z and R. He’ll give you the golden scale instead of a heart piece!

This allows you to do many things early on. Such as entering Zora’s Domain without having to play Zelda’s Lullaby. Or getting the heart piece from the Lakeside Laboratory (letting you have both the scale and heart piece.)

If you help the family break the curse by killing Gold Skulltulas spiders and collect the required number of Tokens, then they will reward you handsomely for your efforts. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Cheats For GameCube

  1. Unlimited Bottles

Equip a bottle to any button. Swing the bottle at a bug/fairy/fish. Before you catch the bug/fairy/fish, equip an item you don't need to the button of the bottle. The item will be transformed into a bottle, and will never return to it's original state.

Warning: Do not replace items required for gameplay with a bottle, for you can not get it back. Replace items such as Masks, or the Trade Item after you complete the trade.

    Contributed by: DarkSkye

  2. Hidden Bowser broach

If you look at the broach that Malon is wearing, you will notice that it is actually Bowser's face.

    Contributed by: Megaman1981

  3. Turn a Gossip Stone into a rocket.

Place a bomb near a Gossip Stone. The blast will turn it into a rocket, which will launch after a brief countdown.

    Contributed by: Megaman1981

  4. Three Free Fairys

As Kid Link, go to a soft soil spot, and play the Song of Storms. Three fairys will appear.

    Contributed by: Timborules

  5. Hidden Nintendo characters in Hyrule Castle courtyard.

When you enter the Hyrule Castle courtyard, look at the right window. If you look inside the window, you will see paintings of Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Luigi, and Bowser.

    Contributed by: Megaman1981

  6. Free faeries

Stand infront of one of thoes "one eyed stones" that tell the time when you hit them. Play any non-teliporting song for two free faeries.

    Contributed by: Flame060

  8. BIG RED RUPEE!

After you gain the Master Sword and become adult Link, go to the lost woods and take a left to the skull kid. He will attack you because you are now an adult, so attack back with regular sword attack. Do not use anything strong and dodge his attacks, if you die or use any strong attacks, he will backflip out of there. Once defeated, he will leave a very large red rupee behind, which is bigger in width and height then Link in his adulthood.

    Contributed by: Pickra

  9. Unlimited Gold Skulltula Tokens

First, you must be young link and already have bombs, the boomerang, and the Song of Storms. Then go to hyrule castle, sneak past the guards, and go by the tree next to entrance of the castle(it's past the moat). Play the Song of Storms and a hole will open appear on the ground. Go into the hole and you'll see three bombable walls. One of these has a gold skulltula inside. You must kill the Gold Skulltula, then stand in front of the circle pad that transports you back up. Now, throw your Boomerang at the token and as soon as it hits the token step back on the pad(before the boomerang comes back to you). You will be transported back to the surface with a new Gold Skulltula token. The Gold Skulltula should reappear down in the hole if you did this right, so now you can easily get 100 tokens!

    Contributed by: BXBomber

  10. Infinite Lon Lon Ranch Milk

To get infinite Lon Lon Ranch Milk simiply play the Epona's Song in front of a cow. Every time you play it you will get you bottle filled with Lon Lon Ranch Milk. You can do this as many times as you want.

    Contributed by: PT

  11. The Bald Fisherman

As a grown up when you catch the fisherman's hat. He will get mad at you, but from then on whenever you see him he will be bald, without his hat. This can be very hard, and is usually best if you stand about where the sign is, and then just keep trying to catch it

    Contributed by: Xeht

  13. Get the golden scale as a kid!

When you are a child, go to the fishing pond and start fishing like normal. Keep fishing until you get a fish that’s big enough to earn a heart piece. Instead of going to the fishing owner, go into the middle of the pond. Face towards the owner in the water and hold Z + L (lock and shield). Don’t let go and swim and run to him. Once you reach him, talk to him without letting go of Z and L. He’ll give you the golden scale instead of a heart piece!

This allows you to do many things early on. Such as entering Zora’s Domain without having to play Zelda’s Lullaby. Or getting the heart piece from the Lakeside Laboratory (letting you have both the scale and heart piece.)

    Contributed by: OniLinkSword

  14. Free Hearts

For this glitch you will need an empty bottle and a bottle with fish (or bugs) in it. Set both the empty bottle and bottle with fish to any direction (for an example we'll be using Down and Right). Now you need to backflip and, BEFORE you land, press Right and Down. Link should drink out of the bottle as if it were Lon Lon Milk and receive some hearts. This can be done at any time.

  15. Infinite sword glitch

This glitch makes it so that links sword always registers as swinging, and will also not allow him to walk off edges, perfect for invisible walkways. To preform it, you need to take out your sword (works with any sword) and crouch in front of an interactive object. Don't use a sign that can be chopped or a person, but anything else should work, including bombs. Jab attack it and quickly press A. You want to interact while the sword is extended. If you do it correctly your sword should look like it's slightly glowing. DO NOT SWING. Swinging will cancel the glitch, and you will need to do it again. The swords hitbox will now register as swinging and permanently do damage. If you put the sword away, backflip and press B in midair.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Cheats For 3DS

  1. Skyward Sword poster in Gerudo's Hideout!

When breaking out of your prison cell after getting captured, jump to the ledge on your left, take out the guards and smash the wooden boxes. Behind the box is a poster of Link from Skyward Sword.

Skyward Sword posters can be found in numerous other places in the game as well.

  2. Mario level in Hyrule Castle Garden

When you go to visit Zelda at the beginning of the game, look in the window to your right when you walk in. In the original version, there used to be some paintings of Mario, Luigi, etc. However, in the 3DS version, there's something different. There's a mural of a Mario level, complete with blocks and pipes.

When you arrive in Lon Lon Ranch as adult (haven't tested with kid) go into Malon and Talon's House (Cucco House) go upstairs into the bedroom go to the dressers, and smash the two pots. Then go and stand where they were, look towards the dresser closer to the door, and go into first person view. Then, look down and you see a picture of Skyward Sword link slashing with some cool Hylian text in the background.

  4. Inside Lord Jabu-Jabu as an adult

Impossible you say? Think again! Go to where Lord Jabu-Jabu was as an adult and go to the left hand (master quest=right hand) side of the piece of ice where he was and run along the edge. After a few attempts you will be able to get inside Lord Jabu-Jabu as an adult and you can even active door switches and walk through the whole dungeon. Unfortunately, since the temple was cleared before, you cannot re-defeat the boss or mini-boss.

When you reach the top of the chain, try jumping directly over the town entrance. Doing so from either side will get you a red rupee. You can also wait until night, and then walk along the entire tip of the raised drawbridge. This will get you three red rupees.

  9. Extra Heart Pieces

As a child, go to Kakariko Village Graveyard at night and do Dampé's Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour. Normally, a single Heart Piece is one of the random items Dampé can dig up. Due to a programming error, however, the process will reset if you leave and reenter the graveyard. The game won't register that you've already gotten that Heart Piece. As a result, it's possible to get as many Heart Pieces as you want from Dampé. Only the first 20 Hearts are displayed correctly, but the next three are given unique symbols on the touch screen. Note: Getting 30 Hearts will crash the game.
