Mega Man Cheats For NES

1. Iceman stage glitch

   There is a point in the Iceman stage where you try to get a 1-up but often miss it. When you drop down to the next screen (the one before the Big Eye), use your magnet beam and try to climb your way up and try to hop onto the offscreen platform where the 1-up is supposed to be. The moment you step on it, the screen will glitch and show you falling to the screen below and avoiding the Big Eye in the process.

2. Unlimited/Reappearing Extra Lives in Bombman's Level

   This is a little tricky to explain without seeing a video, but it works and I'm able to replicate it consistently. (I discovered it accidentally after noticing that the Extra Life sometimes reappeared while playing this level.)
   
   Towards the end of Bombman's level, there's a Sniper Joe (i.e., the green enemy who shoots at you) guarding an Extra Life. After getting the Extra Life, you can make it reappear over and over again to basically get as many lives as you want. The trick has to do with NOT defeating Sniper Joe but rather walking off screen to make him disappear while he's firing his weapon.
   
   On this part of the level, you drop down a thin shaft and hold Right to land on the platform that has Sniper Joe and the Extra Life. (You can't actually see the Extra Life until you walk further to the right.) Rather than defeating Sniper Joe, run/jump past him and get the Extra Life - you'll most likely take some damage. Next, you want to make Sniper Joe jump to the right side of the screen so that you can run back left and make him disappear off screen. But don't make him disappear right away. For whatever reason, this glitch only works if you make him disappear while one of his bullets is still on screen. So, make him hop right, wait for him to fire, then run to the left so he disappears before his bullet leaves the screen.
   
   Once Sniper Joe is off screen, hop back onto the ledge that you came from. This is the difficult part. You need to jump back up into the shaft and land back on the platform. (Basically, by reentering the shaft, you're getting a pixel or two more to the left so that the area with the Extra Life resets itself.) Go all the way to the edge, do a quick hop to the Left and immediately hold Right to land back on the platform. Then, go back to where the Extra Life was and you'll see that it's reappeared. (Sniper Joe won't reappear.)
   
   You can repeat this as many times as you'd like. BEFORE REPEATING it though, run all the way to the right side of the platform that has the Extra Life. (Sometimes you'll see a glitchy sprite of Sniper Joe appear by your health bar for a split second.) Once you've gone all the way to the right side of the platform, then you can go back to the shaft, repeat the jumping step, and collect another Extra Life.
   
   I'm usually able to get a couple before I mess up the hop and fall down to the bottom of the shaft.

3. Reappearing items

   If you see any items/power-ups and any ladder to switch screen, you can switch screen back and forth, then the items/power-ups will reappear.

4. Iceman's Crazy Glitch

   In Iceman's stage, go on top of the highest platform after the first water section. If you jump and mash right and left, crazy indescribable things can happen. The game can reset, enemies can glitch up, the level can change colors, a glitched Yellow Devil can appear, Mega Man can become invincible, the level can end, and much more!

5. The Select Trick

   When using a weapon that goes through an enemy, press the Select button (this pauses the game with out bringing up the weapon menu) when the weapon is making contact with the enemy. While the game is paused this way the enemy will continue to flash. When the flashing has stopped, press the Select button again to un-pause the game and the weapon will 'hit' the enemy again causing more damage.
   
   You can do this trick repeatidly with many of the bosses making them very easy to beat.
