Item Duplication
You will only only be able to dupicate items that can be held in the Left Hand or Right Hand. A great way to get loads of Excaliburs to throw. Go into battle and select an empty slot in your item list. Keep pressing UP until you get to the equipment list for the Left and Right Hand. Select the item that you want to duplicate, then escape from the battle by holding L+R. Open up the menu and go to the character equipment. Re-equip your item. You will notice it has a 2 next to it. De-Equip it and then Re-equip it, to split it in half.

Skip Sealed Cave
In any version of FFIV, you can skip the entire Sealed Cave sequence and get the crystal early. As soon as Rydia rejoins your party and you have full control over your characters (out of battle), cast warp. You will be in a crystal chamber with a crystal on the pedestal. Take it! Now, all you have to do is enter the Sealed Cave to trigger the next part of the story. Of course, this means that if you do still want to level and loot, you're going to be doing it short a party member..

255 of Any Weapon for Cecil
First, equip any type of arrows to Cecil's right hand and any type of bow to his left hand. You must also have the weapon called "Avenger". Then, enter a battle. View Cecil's equipment by pressing up on the Item's list. Then, select the arrows and put it in an empty slot. Select the bow and also put it in an empty slot. Then, select the slot in Cecil's left hand and put the Avenger in it. Let Cecil finish off the enemies. Then, open up the menu and select equip. You will notice an odd symbol on Cecil's right hand. De-equip the Avenger. Now, select Cecil's right hand and put in the weapon you want to multiply by 255. Then, de-equip the weapon. In your items list, you should have Cecil's weapon with a weird symbol next to it. That symbol symbolizes 255.

Equip a stolen weapon in any character
Here is a glitch that I discovered in my PS game. Have Edge use his "Steal" command in a enemy that have a weapon or a shield. Then let the character you want to equip with the new weapon in waiting for command mode (blinking with a menu). The character must be in this mode in the exact moment that Edge steals the enemy. When Edge steals the enemy, go to the "Item" command, and the weapon will be displayed in white, meaning it can be equipped. With that glitch I have Rydia equipped with a Mithryl Shield(Tortoise), and a FireSpr(Flameman), and I have Cecil equipped with a Gaia Hammer(Staleman).

Item Duplication
Firsly make sure you have the item you want to duplicate, and enter a battle and select the item option of the person with the item you wish to duplicate. Then Scroll down to a blank space on the item list and press A to place a glove there, scroll back up to the equipped items then press A on the one you'll be duplicating, then press B to leave the screen.
Next, hold the L and R buttons to run from the battle, press X to see the subscreen, select Equip and the character who has the item, press A on empty spot the item used to occupy, then press A on the actual item that's now in the items list. You will now see that your character has two of the selected item equipped.Contributed by: NeoGamer

250 of a weapon!
OK, this glitch is a way to get 250-255 of a weapon. However, make sure you follow my directions EXACTLY how I say to, or else the trick will not work.
To start the trick, you need the Avenger sword, which you can find in the Sylvan cave in the underground, I think.
First, equip Cecil with arrows in his GOOD hand, and the any kind of bow in his BAD. Get into a battle (preferably an easy one), and make sure that nobody does anything. If a character's turn comes before his, have them parry (press right and the parry option will come up). Once it gets to Cecil's turn, enter the item screen. Grab the arrows he has equiped and bring them down to an empty slot. Without leaving the window, select the Avenger sword and move it up to his BAD hand.
From there, press B to exit the items window and his commands will disappear because the Avenger sword causes the person with it equiped to be berserked. Don't have any other characters do ANYTHING! Just let Cecil beat up all the enemies.
After the battle, go to the Equip screen for Cecil. Move the Avenger sword to an empty slot, and then without leaving the screen move the sword you would like to duplicate 250 times into his GOOD hand (the one with the numbers). De-equip, and re-equip, and voila! You should have a sword with a circle and a number next to it in your inventory. If not, make sure you followed my directions EXACTLY.
This works well for duplicating the excalibur, and having Edge throw it for massive damage. Happy gaming!Contributed by: the_ultimate

How to skip the Sealed Cave.
This has to be done right after the battle with Golbez in the underworld, right after the battle you get Rydia back. You cast Warp and you return to the Crystal Room with the Crystal returned. Doing this makes you completely eliminate the quest of the Sealed Cave.

No MP cost Sylph spell
Once you have the Sylph spell, simply arrange Rydia’s spell list so that Sylph is in the top-right corner. Whenever you cast the spell, Rydia will not lose any MP. Note, though, that if Rydia does not have at least 25 MP (the normal casting cost), you will not be able to select the spell for casting.
Unlike the duplicate weapon trick, this glitch DOES NOT work in the PlayStation re-release (Final Fantasy Chronicles).

Obtain the hidden summons quicker
The Mage and Bomb summon spells are very random to achive after a battle with either a bomb or mage. Hunting them down can very time consuming especially with a low encounter rate. A good way to enhance the chances of receiving it is with multiple kills in only one battle. You will need a lot of phoenix downs for this.
In a battle with either a mage or bomb (there must at least be two), memorize the party's attack order. With one member, select to kill the enemy. The next party member should IMMEDIATELY select a phoenix down and place it on the enemy. The result will be the enemy is killed and then resurrected by the next party member. You may repeat this for as many phoenix downs as you have, then finish the battle. The amount of treasure you earn will be a lot greater, and you will most likely earn a bomb or mage spell in the process.Contributed by: Neopolss

Unsealed Dark Elf's Cave
I'm sure most of you remember that if you use weapons, armor, or accessories made out of any metal or any silver in the Dark Elf's cave. However, there's a little glitch that can be exploited if you don't feel like using wooden gear or your bare hands to fight.
Simply put, make sure all metallic/silver equipment is unequipped before the start of any random battle. Then when you get into battle, equip your metal weaponry(and shields, if you want) and you won't be paralyzed for that battle! Just remember to unequip the items after the battle and before the next battle and you can dominate your way through the Dark Elf's cave! As far as I know, this works in the Playstation and WonderSwan re-releases, too, but I know for a fact it works in the original FFII and FFIV carts.Contributed by: JosephLithius

Easy Max Score on Rydia's Mathemagic Minute
If you're stumped on getting the max score (9999) on Rydia's Mathemagic Minute, there is a easy way. When you're about to begin the minigame, quickly remember the numbers and close your Nintendo DS screen. It will put your Nintendo DS in sleep mode. Write down the numbers you remember and solve the mathemagic. After you find your answer, quickly open up your Nintendo DS and prepare to copy the answer as fast as you can. Keep doing this until you get your max score (9999) and Whyt's Summoner costume at the end.

Developers' Room
Yes, there is a hidden Developers' Room, and it's in the hardtype version of FFIV, so here's how you get to it!
Go to the Dwarven Castle in the underworld. Get to the room where you can buy weapons and armor; there is a path in between both those counters. Walk up into the Rally-ho Pub. There, walk directly to the right (around the table of course) and you'll see an odd blackish section of floor. Walk right through the wall at that point and continue right and down the steps into the hidden Developers' Room!
There is also a hidden porn magazine in this room as well. Get into the Nap Room (from the entrance to the room, go up and right, then down into the Nap Room). Check out the left side of the bookcase nearby to find Smut, which is the magazine. Select it on the Item menu and the screen will turn purplish as Cecil looks at it... Then after it's over, the screen's back to normal and the Smut is gone.Contributed by: DBM11085

Enemy Suicide Glitch (JP v1.0 Only)
(Note that this glitch can be executed in several ways: however, to avoid saturation with technical details, I will speak in examples. Also be sure to note that this is only functional on Japanese v1.0 releases: this is, in fact, the only thing that changed between v1.0 and v1.1.)
To begin this glitch, begin by leaving one of a set of special areas: these include Mist Cave, the west side of Mt. Hobs, the Antlion's cave, and the basement areas of Troia (which must be done by Exit). From there, you must get to the Underworld and then get into a battle once there. The game mixes up various bits of data and loads enemies into the battle improperly to the point that the game must execute its fail-safe for when enemies are loaded very wrongly: that is, the game overrides their attacks such that they only will cast Stone on themselves until they die. This can allow you to easily earn EXP., Gil, and items.Contributed by: Anonymous
-
Peninsula of Power
Monster encounters in this game are encoded much as in previous Final Fantasies: they are encoded on a gridular basis so that every single grid tile has its own set of encounters. However, sometimes parts of the overworld can unintentionally cross these gridlines, allowing you to fight later-game monsters than intended for the purpose of quick-leveling or item drop abuse. In Final Fantasy II/IV, you can find such an area due north of Mt. Ordeals, letting you fight monsters from Mythril and Troia.

-
Event Bypass Glitch
Note that you'll need a Tent to execute this glitch. While on the world map, as you move between two tiles, rapidly press X: if you do it quickly enough, you'll enter the menu mid-step. From there, if you use a Tent, you'll fool the game into having its hit detection off by a single tile. This fact will in turn allow you to skip visiting Mist (thereby allowing you to keep Kain, but you cannot get Rydia). You can also now enter Mist from its east side to be able to peruse its relatively-advanced shops.
However, note that if you do use this glitch to bypass Mist, you must also use it later to bypass the events in Damcyan as the battle with Tellah and Edward will glitch, forcing the game to freeze.Contributed by: Anonymous
-
Skip the Sealed Cave
This glitch will allow you to skip the Sealed Cave dungeon. After Rydia rejoins the party as an adult, and after speaking with King Giott soon thereafter, have Rydia use Warp. You will be returned to the Crystal Room where you can pick up the Dark Crystal and leave to the throne room. When you proceed to the Sealed Cavern, the game will act as if you already earned the Crystal from within the dungeon. Due to the game's plot, there will now be no need to actually attempt to enter the dungeon for the Crystal within. However, note that, if you wish to obtain treasures from within the dungeon, you must go to it with one less party member.

-
Enemy Revival Glitch
This glitch will allow you to greatly increase the EXP., items, and GP won from battles. For this to work, you must have a character able to use Life or have the Life1 item. Use the aforementioned item/spell on a low-HP foe and then have the next character in the turn order kill the foe. (Note that it is much more reliable to use Tornado for this.) When the foe dies - regardless of cause, though it must be timed properly if you don't use Tornado - the Life spell or Life1 item will revive the foe. However, the foe comes back with 0 HP and immediately dies. The game will however consider that the foe was killed twice, thus increasing what you earned from it.

Stop Glitches
There are a number of spell effects that work oddly with the Stop spell to create odd glitches based on what spell Stop is combined with. To execute the glitch with the named effects, simply cast Stop on a foe who is affected by the named ailment. Note that not all of these will work on every version, and there is a possibility the game may freeze in every instance of this.
- Stop + Paralyze: This can indefinitely paralyze.
- Stop + Sleep: This can indefinitely keep someone asleep.
- Stop + Gradual Petrify: This can fend off the petrification.
- Stop + Regen: This makes the Regen status permanent until KO'ed.Contributed by: Anonymous

Equip Anything Glitch
To begin with, you will need Edge. You will also need the equipment that you want to equip (but normally cannot) to not be in the inventory, but held by someone else, and will also need Active Battle activated in the Config menu. Enter battle with a monster who has the preferred steal item and have Edge target the enemy using Sneak. The next character will be the one who wants to equip the unequippable equipment: if the turn order is not ideal for this, you must kill off the other characters. In any case, once this character gets their turn immediately after Edge, enter the Items menu: if you managed to do so before Edge stole the item, the unequippable equipment will not be grayed-out. This means you can go to the desired equipment, select it, and scroll up to the Equip menu and equip it. To actually apply stat changes, you'll need to go to the Equip screen for this character then their Status menu page in the field.

255 of Anything Glitch
There are two ways in which you can perform this glitch. For this first method, you need Cecil, the Avenger weapon, and a bow and some arrows. You must also have one blank slot in the inventory. Equip him with the bow and arrows in the field in his left and right hands repsectively. Enter a battle and then enter the items menu. Go to the Equip menu at the top of the list and select the arrows, then select a blank slot in your inventory. Then switch Cecil's bow with the Avenger and then have Cecil win the battle by having only him attack. Post-battle, you'll notice a symbol reading "A2" in Cecil's right hand. Unequip the Avenger and then put something into this right hand (the item to be duplicated), then unequip that weapon to earn 255 (seen as A2) of it.
There is a second method for this. You will need someone with a bow and arrows and the Berserk spell. The character whose items are to be duplicated must not be the one casting Berserk. Have the non-Berserker equip a bow in their weak hand and arrows in their dominant hand. Have things set up so that this character will go immediately after the Berserker (such as by killing off the other two characters). Enter a battle and cast Berserk on the character with the bow, then quickly make the bow-wielder enter their items menu and unequip the arrows. They will now have "A2" in their hand post-battle. From there, you can do the process detailed as in the previous paragraph to clone whatever you wish.Contributed by: Anonymous

Easy rare encounters with one 'Siren'
If you use the Siren item, the game automatically sends you into the rarest encounter on the current floor/part of the world you are on. With just one Siren and the handy soft reset, you can use that one Siren to get a rare fight when you need it, if a save point is nearby.
Simply save the game, then use the Siren and you will get the rare encounter. Do a soft reset (A+B+Select+Start) and the first fight you get into should be the rare encounter for that floor and you still have the Siren item.A test example that works great is to go to the Summoned Monsters town, then save. Go back to 3F of the Cave of Summons then use the Siren. You should confront two rairyuu/Thunder Dragons. Do a soft reset, then go back to 3F and walk around until you get into a fight. It should be with two Thunder Dragons. Use this to get some of the harder to encounter enemies if you do not have a large stock of the Siren item.Contributed by: Red Scarlet
-
Psycho Edward Glitch
This takes advantage of Edward's auto-hide property when he is in critical status (low HP). First, berserk him, then take him down to critical (tornado works well). He should hide in his next available turn. However, he retains his berserk status, and in his next available turn, he'll reappear and attack again. He will still be berserked, but he'll also still be considered "hidden." That means that he'll constantly attack and never be able to be targetted, even by spells that should hit the entire party, as long as one other person is still alive (he can't hide if he is the only person left alive). On the negative side, it also means you can't heal him, even with party healing spells.

Fight Flan Princess without using Siren/Alarm
The Flan Princess can be found in the final Lunar Subterane area on Floor B5 in the southeastern most room. This enemy has the probability of dropping a Pink Tail which can be traded for an Adamant Armor, the strongest armor in the game. The rate at which you fight the enemy and the rate in which it drops the item however is very rare (1/64 chance for both). Follow this process to be able to fight a set of Flan Princesses very frequently without having to use a Siren/Alarm item, and in turn greatly increase your chances to score a Pink Tail:
1) Get to the room on Floor B5 where you can encounter the Flan Princess. It is a room with a treasure box in it, and the room is shaped slightly like an unspide-down L.2) Quick save the game when you enter the room, and once you come to the Final Fantasy 4 title screen, cut the power off to your GBA system.3) Turn your game back on, go to the main menu on the title screen, and select Continue. When given the option to continue your quick save, press B to go back to the title screen.4) Select continue again from the title screen, and this time, select Yes when given the choice to restart your game.5) Walk around within the room. One of two things will commonly happen. You will either immediately fight a group of 5 Flan Princesses within taking a few steps.or You will fight a series of 5 battles. The first battle will be a Gold Dragon and a Silver Dragon, and the next three battles will be Dinozombies respectively. Run from these battles if possible. On your fifth battle, you will fight a set of Flan Princesses. For each battle you complete, you will score a large amount of gold and a decent amount of experience. You will also have a chance for an item drop. As soon as you finish a battle, quicksave, and restart the process as many times as you wish to fight as many Pink Princesses as you can.Contributed by: xybur

Acquire free Berserk status in any battle.
Step 1: Un-equip all beserk status preventing items such as the Ribbon helmet from the party members you want beserked.
Step 2: Equip the Avenger sword on Kain (or Cecil).Step 3: Enter a battle.Step 4: For the Character you want beserked, watch his ATB. You need it to fill up just as Kain attacks. Once this happens, Kains berserk status will be copied to this character and he or she will now be berserked. (You can get your whole party berserked this way)Step 5: Win the battle. Un-Equip Kains Avenger sword and equip on Kain any weapon you want. From now on until you restart the game, anytime Kains ATB fills up along side any of your other characters, they will be put in Beserk status, unless they are wearing a Ribbon.Contributed by: tritorch

Equip Adult Rydia with White Mage staffs.
When Rydia returns as an adult she no longer has the ability to use white magic, so she can no longer use staffs (but still can use rods don't confuse the two) First off you must beat the game with her in your party and go to the lunar ruins and start her trial. When she is young again she has white magic again so you can equip her with staffs. Finish the trial with a staff equipped and even when she returns to an adult she will still have it on. But if you unequip it she will not be able to equip it unless you return to her trial in the lunar ruins. And now your black mage summoner has a white mage weapon.

Easy Defeat of Lunar Odin
Firstly, you'll need a Black Mage with you. Anyhow, inside the Lunar Ruins, during Cecil's trial, you will eventually get to fight Lunar Odin. At the start, use Slow on him. For the next few turns, focus on keeping your party alive. After Lunar Odin's sixth turn, on which he'll cast Holy, have your Black Mage cast a Thunder-based spell (Thunder, Thundara, or Thundaga) on Lunar Odin. With good timing, you'll hit Lunar Odin on the same turn as "Lightning courses through Odin!" appears on-screen. Assuming Lunar Odin is hit with the spell, it is an instant-KO.

Piercing Magic Augment
In this version of Final Fantasy IV, you won't encounter Whyt. However, there is a sidequest in the Feymarch that involves an Eidolon whose companions went off and never returned. Once you talk to him, this quest begins, and can be completed at any time before the finale. The order in which the Eidolon's suggests are as follows: "The oasis": He's at the Kaipo Lake. "To observe a view": He's at the Mt. Ordeals Summit. "To fly to the sky": He's at the Black Chocobo Forest near Troia. "Getting drunk": At the Lali-Ho Pub in Dwarf Castle. "Making a friends with an Eidolon": Sylvan Hut, Sylph Cave, where you find Yang, on the second floor. "Wants to become brave": At the well in Koppol Forge. "Has musical taste": Hummingway Cave, Moon, he's at the northwest. "Went on a lunar excursion": Near Bahamut's Throne, Lair of the Father, Moon. Once you have all eight Eidolons sent home, talk to the Eidolon near the entrypoint of the cave and you'll get free transport to the Feymarch. Talk to the Eidolon starting the quest and you get the "Piercing Magic" augment, which enables spells to bypass barriers, including Reflect.
