Cheats & Guides

Dark Cloud 2 Cheats For PlayStation 2

  1. Name-Change Ticket Trick

In most cases, the Name-Change Ticket only changes the name of a weapon. If you enter the name of another weapon in the game however, the ticket will actually tranform the old item. This method allows players to obtain the most powerful weapons earlier than is possible in the game and without having to build the weapon from scratch. To perform this trick, follow these steps:

1.Recruit Mayor Need and purchase tickets (costs 40 medals each)
2.Select an unequipped weapon in the menu and choose the option Change name
3.Replace the old name with the name of the weapon you want to obtain. Make sure to follow correct case, spelling, spacing, etc. when applicable or it will not work. Press OK after you are done and the item will transform. Here are some of the common name choices for this trick.

    Max weapons: LEGEND,Grade Zero,Supernova,Sigma Bazooka,Last Resort
    Monica weapons: Five-Star Armlet,Island King,Dark Cloud,Muramasa,Griffon Fork,Chronicle 2

  2. Duplicate Lures

Once you have a lure rod and 2 two of the same lure (available in chapter 4 after you've recruited Olive), you can duplicate it as many times as you want to. just equip the lure rod and a lure. Then press R2 so you will have Monica displayed instead of Max. Now select the same lure and equip it as many times as you want, it will seem nothing will have happened, but you will now have multiple lures equiped and still have the one in the menu. once you remove the lures you can have up to 999 lures (don't go over 999 or it will reset the number to whatever you had before you did it) then you can sell them all for a lot of money.

  3. Easy money.

There are many ways to get money cheating but this is the easier way:
Create a Turkey (spheda club) by taking photos of:
    Special Peking Duck;
    Tree;
    Windimil Feather.
Then, buy three rolling logs and three scraps of metal.
To buy the items you wil only spend 90 gilda and you wil sel the turkey for 230 gilda.
Repeat the cheat as many times as you want.

  4. Easy Level Up

To level up weaker weapons faster, just change your character. First you kill the enemy with your strongest character, imediatly after the enemy dies, press L3 and change your character.
The character you switched to will get the ABS equally divided between the short-range weapon and the long-range weapon.
A good trick to level up Monicas weak bracelets.

  5. Use Fishing Rod Before Finishing Dungeon Floor and Never Die!

For this glitch, you'll need to be in the field and equip the Fishing Rod. Get rid of all of Max's weapons, Lure Rod included, except for one. Use the Name-Change Ticket glitch as described previously to change the name of that lone weapon to a gun, sword, or armlet, thus giving Max no weapons other than the Fishing Rod. When you enter a dungeon, you will be able to fish at spots where you can normally fish, but you don't have to wait for the floor to be cleared of monsters. Furthermore, even though you take damage when fishing, you will not be able to die while the Fishing Rod is equipped!

  6. Julia Glitch: Chapter 5 Boss

During the first part of the Chapter 5 boss battle at the end of Mt. Gundor, while the boss runs at you and while Julia is one of your support characters, have Julia confuse the boss. The boss will glitch, and be stuck running in place, and will remain stuck until you use an attack that knocks him back. A noteworthy example of an attack lacking this knockback are the Machine Gun Arms on the Ridepod; using such attacks, you can quickly eliminate the boss's health without any risk to yourself.

  7. Julia Glitch: Duplicating Self-Sacrificing Enemy Rewards

When Julia is a support character, defeat an enemy that normally is capable of killing itself - such as the Bomber Heads in Mt. Gundor that can explode to hurt you. Once defeated, before it disappears, activate Julia's ability. From here, you can do this twice more (provided Julia has enough energy), though you have to let the enemy in question kill itself since from this point onward you cannot directly deal damage to the monster. Each time the monster dies, it will drop money and perhaps items, allowing you to duplicate the rewards you earn.

  8. Fish Cloning

This can be done once you have an aquarium and any desired fish to clone. Once you have the fish to clone, assure it is in the first slot of your inventory outside of the aquarium. Pick it up with Square, then repeatedly use Select to sort your items menu until the aquarium is in that first slot. Then press Circle and Square in that order - you'll still be holding the fish, but a clone of it will also be in the aquarium! This can be used to clone fish to cook for healing, to sell for money (though the Lure glitch is faster), and to just making breeding a bit easier. You can also more easily win Fishing Contests as you only need to catch a big fish and clone it twice as opposed to catching three separate big fish.

  9. Enable the Debug Mode Camera in Dungeons

When you're in a normal map - i.e. a Georama - use R2 to go into first-person mode, then go to any dungeon floor by entering the menu and using Move. In the dungeon, immediately go to the menu and equip the fishing rod and exit the menu. Just like that you have glitched the camera to be much like the debug mode camera, in that you can go at any angle desired; pausing and unpausing will change the camera distance. Unequipping the rod will rectify this state.

  10. View 3D Item Models

Normally, viewing the 3D item model for items (bar special cases like equipment) is limited to the game's debug menu. However, if you have a Lure Rod and are willing to discard it, you can bypass this restriction. When in the item menu, pull up the stats for the Lure Rod, and then discard the Lure Rod: its stats will still be displayed onscreen however. Pick up an item and carry it to the spot where the Lure Rod was. While hovering over that slot, press Square twice, then Circle; you will have done this correctly if the Lure Rod's name is replaced by the item's name. Then equip any weapon or article of clothing and you will see the item's model. Do note that this only works one time and to do it again you'll need to procure another Lure Rod.

Note that trying to display outfits crashes the PS2 version, and often does so for the PS4 port as well albeit with varying effects.

  11. Damage Storage Glitch

This does not work for Max while he has a beam gun equipped. When in a dungeon, attack with your melee weapon (hammer/wrench/sword), and as it touches the ground, press L1 to cancel the attack and quickly open the menu. If performed correctly, you should see some sort of streak of light near your character, leftover from the attack. Switch your long-range weapon (gun/brassard) or view a help video, then exit the menu. Going forward, simply running into enemies will be sufficient to damage them. Depending on how many attacks you store, you will be able to hit a given enemy that many times. (Store 3 attacks like this and all enemies can suffer damage 3 times each from running into them, for example. You can store up to 63 attacks: any more and you will not be able to damage foes, nor they you.)

    Contributed by: Eevee-Trainer

  12. Out of Bounds (using Angel/Devil Coins)

To be able to go out of bounds, you must find an Angel/Devil Coin that has spawned near one of the dungeon's boundaries: bottomless pits are usually great for this, and depending on the dungeon walls will also work, though this does not appear to work in the Moon Flower Palace. This is most easily done when you have the Baron Balloon or Skeleton Soldier Monster Transforms available.

With either monster, walk along the boundary towards the Coin, as if trying to squeeze the two. You'll be prompted with a message; exit out of it, but do not let go of the analog stick. Provided that the Coin was close enough to the boundary, you should be pushed out of bounds. Once out of bounds, walking too far in a given place can result in you falling through the bottom of the map and warping to the top; you can walk around as you fall as well, which leads to any number of potential other benefits and sequence breaks. (For example: you could get inside the Star Path force fields long before Chapter 6, or fish in the early parts of Starlight Canyon where it's normally impossible.) Note that depending on where and how you do this, you might end up stuck and be forced to leave the dungeon.

  16. Recruitable NPCs

Once you're introduced to Georama midway through Chapter 2, you will be able to recruit people from Palm Brinks to immigrate to other regions. You can have them live in the towns you build, and add them to your party as a non-playable support character. Each character has their own unique abilities, and many of them run shops as well. When not placed in a town, you can find them onboard the train. Each of these characters has a short task you must complete before they will join you. Sometimes, they will not give you the task unless you speak to them with a specific character. Some people also only appear at certain times of the day.

  8. Name change glitch

Buy a name change item with medals and rename a weapon such as a basic battle wrench into any weapon you want it to become such as legend make sure you use exact capitalization and punctuation the game uses it becomes the new weapon good way to get weapons before the chapter restrictions and great way to add a ton of stats later on. Five-Star Armlet is my favorite for that since it is the only one I know of that has base stats on every element.
