So, the story seems to be better than the gameplay.................

Why do people like these books? There's no protagonist and no character development until about 200-ish pages in.

@nechiken There is 5000 pages of character developement.  The best characterization of any book I have read, and I read a lot.

@nechiken stick to watching TV mate.  It'll be easier for you.  You would be disappointed with the following 3000 pages...

@nechiken No protagonist? How about a dozen protagonists. No character development? Each chapters is told in the third person from a specific characters point of view! That aspect alone provides more character development then many other books I have read. There has been a ridiculous amount of character development so far, and I am only on page 90. Why do people like these books? Because they are great books.

Move along.

@lo_hairy_lee Yes my guess is that the reviewer hasn't heard George Martin or any character in the series talk about "Westeros" otherwise he would know how to pronounce it. Shame someone who clearly doesn't know anything about it is review the game.

I have to admit that this review is a little boring, but the games dialogue is very similar so keep up the good job Mr. Mc Shea!

On a serious note: Does anyone think this game is worth playing before I buy it???

Huge fan of the books and the show, so I'll be getting this. But it's clear this is far from the game fans have been waiting for. I'm sure someday we'll get a gr8 game set in this universe, but not today.

I'm as big a Westeros fan as anyone and I can tell this game sucks serious ass from the trailer.  Movie games always suck but this looks rock bottom, there is nothing about the graphics that would indicate the game is from the game of thrones world.  Damn shame because the potential here is unlimited and they rushed out this drivel to add a quick buck.  A GOT game should have the freedom of skyrim with armies, factions, strategy and massive battles not made up characters like every other lame movie spinoff game, very disappointing!

@abemacdaddy Yeah everyone can tell which kind of games is the best or how a must have RPG must look like. You can't tell they rushed this one, they started far before HBO think about the serie.

@MaxPayne1051995 No, because the combat in Bethesda games lacks depth, as well as their universes. I'm not saying the WORLD is lacking in depth, though. The world is very detailed and fun to explore, but the characters have no depth, and the combat system is just plain bad. And A Game of Thrones is a mature game, and TES can be picked up by a child and they can understand whats happening. I like to compare A Game of Thrones to the Whitcher in level of maturity, in fact.

I'm not sure about this one. I won't buy it for sure, looks short. I might rent it, but that's all the money i'm going to spent on it.

great fan of the show, unfortunately never had a chance to get a hold of the books... this game doesnt seem so enticing

Looks pretty cool, but I think this game will be overlooked... I do like how the game doesn't completely STOP and stays in some-what REAL-TIME with it in slow-motion as you navigate combat menus. That is pretty sweet and looks fun to play.

@SsangyongKYRON No...this is a different story but in the same universe but it doesn't have anything to do with the books

btw is the story of the game expanding just over the storyline of the first novel "Game of Thrones" or further?

@RO-nIn187 Just the first. Takes time around the first chapters and carries on from there.

i will play it for the story but gameplay and graphics dont look quite that good... some characters look great but the facial animation and overall movement just look too artificial... cant wait for the next book though :)

Well I had some high hopes for the game. I may eventually play it, seeing as the story has been highly touted by all of the reviews. However the graphics just look bad at times, and the idea of fast traveling around random points sounds a lot like Dragon Age 2, which was one of the main things that made me dislike that game.

It's almost as if the way the reviewer is talking is more like he's focusing on how a good or professional review "should" sound, which is completely taking the soul out of the review and making me feel like I'm listening to a robot. Even when he brings up opinions of his own, the delivery still makes it sound robotic. I think it might help him if he tried to imagine who he was speaking to when he talks during the review. I'm sure if he tried imagining who this review would cater to or who would appreciate its sound, he'd realize there is nobody like that. No PERSON would be talked to like that. He needs to just talk as if he's talking to a group of young gamers who might want to buy this game. If he did, I'm sure even he would agree that it would sound completely different in a good way.

@iBuSHiDo EXACTLY! Thank you! I've thought the exact same thing for so long but was never able to put it into words. Tom's reviews are so painful to listen to because it always sounds like he's reading someone else's review out of a book. A very boring book.

wish there was more scruffy, rough, dark medieval stuff out there.... seems everything is about rome or some kind of fantasy that doesn't really capture the period.... I know this is fantasy but it feels medieval.... anyways it's not like I don't like that stuff but dark Medieval is great

@uglypinkmoose sounds like you need to play dark souls, i look for the same things in video games based in/around the medieval period

Looks like Dragon age 2, which mean it sucks! Why dont they make these games more like Shenmue? I hate this combat system.

supertom221
supertom221

@MasterTae Dragon Age would be a compliment to the battle system, though highly unimmersive as no one in GoT is that acrobatic or uses crazy magic s**t like  that except for specific ones.

I like said above me though, combat pacing sucks. Even as a water dancer, it takes the character 3 seconds to barely finish one swing. That's pathetic, and stupid.

JACOBDRAGON666
JACOBDRAGON666

@MasterTae the combat os more like DA 1 i would have perferd it a button smasher -_- the attack speed in this game blows.
