Polished and buffed - Full Spectrum Warrior - The Sequel

User Rating: 8.4 | Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers XBOX
Ten Hammers is the sequel to the popular tactical shooter FSW for the xbox relesed a couple of years ago. The core gameplay hasn't changed, in this game you will take command of up to 3 specialist miltary units, usually Rangers in an attempt to bring a bit of peace and balance to the fictional town called Zekibestan which is being torn up by civil war.
The first game was originally designed in conjunction with Ranger units and the US Army and was rumuroed to be used by the military to help train marines who are heading over to countrys like Iraq and Afganistan.
This release of FSW now feels more like a game than a training program, the controls have been updated along with the graphics and more work seems to have been put into the map layouts and enemy AI.
Most missions you will still take control of the two fire teams Alpha and Bravo however in Ten Hammers each team members abilitys have been updated, you can now use each individual team member to either supress, snipe or even use a grenade independntly of each other.
Also team managment has been altered so that you can split a four man team into seperate two man fire teams allowing you to flank enemies easier an compete your mission, this however comes at a cost, a two man fire team is not as effective at suppressing enemy posistions as a four man team say.
The other main difference in team control is the ability to call one fire team to a move position whilst controlling another fireteam, this allows you more control over movement without the faffing around of keeping two teams together by switching from one to the other.
Charlie units have been nicely updated as well with the ability to control on some missions anything from a lone sniper to a tank and when i say control i do mean control the tank, which is fun to say the least.
The controls will take you more time than learn than the original game and if you were a fan of the original game you must "un-learn, what you have already learned" as Yoda would put it.
All round a better game than FSW in terms of graphics and size, but the original FSW struck me as being easier in terms of controls and gameplay which means that Ten hammers should only be played as a sequel and not as a beginning to the FSW world.
