For me it was Gears of War. Played it online at my mates house and my ps2 just looked pathetic in comparison. Fully fledged xbox gamer now. Loving it.thedudesrug1
For me it was Skate, and my PS2 looked just like yours. :P
Dead Rising was the first game I made my friend buy when he got his 360 for his birthday. I played the crap out of it and when I got the opportunity to buy a 360 for really cheap from another friend, I jumped at it.
Not really a game made me buy my 360 but live did. I had never played online before but played it at a friends house and was addicted. The first game i got though was COD4.
it was the best console at the time i wanted to upgrade to a next-gen (now current-gen) console. it had exclusives like gears of war and mass effect, then there's the upcoming games like alan wake. it was also the cheapest console at that time.
The announcement of RE5 motivated me to jump to the current gen (I'm a latecomer, I know). There wasn't one specific game that made me choose the X360 over PS3, it just seemed to have better overall quality of exclusives.
Been an Xbox fan ever since the original Xbox had the internal hard drive and I discovered I didn't need memory cards anymore. Also, Xbox Live was decent on the original xbox and it has served me well for over 5 years.
I loved and still love my PS2 but, the PS3 just didnt impress me. I completed my PS2 collection and played through my game library before finally settling on 360 and getting Oblivion, which i still play!
Wow, IMO that game was terrible. PGR2 was the best in the series I think. I was really excited for PGR3 as well but then I got it and thought the game was crap. PGR4 is getting closer to PGR2 but not quite there.
Gears of War because it looked like one of the best video games ever and it was. I still remember first seeing the graphics when i had my PS2. I could not even comprehend how great it looked. Mainly Gears of War but also Bioshock.
Halo 3, for the most part. Although, I've played plenty of other fantastic games on the console outside of Halo 3. One game often pushes me over but often times I try to make sure there are a good amount of games on a console I want to play before I get it.
Not one game but Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect were influences though. It was more of Sony's decisions and the direction they took with the PS3 that I didn't like. A $400 price tag compared to the $600 of Sony and the constant amount of exclusitivity changes GTA IV, Assassins Creed, Devil May Cry 4, and the better online just wrapped it up. Although you still have to pay, you get what you pay for and in that case PSN may be free but the end result is you pay for nothing, you get nothing.
