my god i wonder how many of the 360s "sold" are actually replacements. micro thinks they save money by making a cheap console rather than hiring capable people and quality parts?

On my 3rd. First one got the red ring of death. Second had a disc tray that would only open/close 50% of the time. Even with all the problems, I think it's the overall best console. That's taking into consideration the available games, on-line service and user friendly dashboard.
first one broke 6 months after i bought it. i thought i could fix it myself, big mistake, ruined my warranty. sold it on ebay. bought a new one on ebay. broke two days after i got that one probably bc my hard drive was corrupted. shipped it off. three weeks later im on my third which has yet to broke. it works odd bc as it starts up, it freezes for a few seconds then goes....
I had one for 3-4 months that I bought used from EB and it never messed up. The only reason I don't still have it is because my ass is broke, and I had to sell it. Totally getting an Elite in 2 months when I have the $$$. Seriously, I never had a single problem, ever.

I wouldnt waste my money on an elite, reason: The elites are made with the same disc drive as the first launched 360's!! Which is ridiculous Microsoft needs to be more focused on customer care then they should be on making an extra buck!!
I got mine in mach 06', replaced it march 2nd 2007, replaced again in april 15th 2007 and I have another replacement coming in a couple of days. Im on my soon to be fourth xbox 360 and it sucks.
well i got my first one feburary 28th and it kept freezing so i took it back to gamestop today and got a new one i had the prp i hope this one lasts how long is a warrenty with microsoft
Well I bought mine on November 13, 2006. The system lasted me till late March 2007 and then it broke down, the system started making loud sounds and the screen would get pix-elated and turn black. I called the store where I bought the system, (because I had also bought a warranty from them) and they told me that I had to contact Microsoft first and use their warranty before I can use my store warranty. They told me that the manufacturer warranty had to expire first till I could use theirs. I hate Game-Crazy, my advice don't buy from them or their protection plans. Other store warranties that I called (fony calls) told me to bring the console to the store and they'll check it if anything is wrong and that if a problem/defect was found that they'd replace it with a new one. I paid like $64 or more dollars for a year warranty. Well short story long, I called the stupid Microsoft help line and they decided to run some system checks first, there was nothing to check, the console froze as soon as you hit the power button, it was almost instantaneous and no red lights. They sent me a package I received it and I shipped my 360 out(of course it was all free) and the system came back to me in less than 3 weeks. I think they sent me a new or refurbished one because the plastics on it were a little different and some marks that I had made on it were gone. They also game me a FREE! one month XBOX LIVE card, so I also one something back, ONE FREAKIN FREE WEEK!!! of XBOX LIVE. LOL! My advice on the manufacturer warranty is to bug the hell out of them, I called every freakin day sometimes twice a day till they gave me the good news "your console has already left the shop, it'll arrive to you within 3-4 business days" and it just took 2 or 3. How happy I am now. (Yes "am now") Last thing just to show off I already have almost every XBOX 360 accessory except the HHD DWDD BVD player, hoping on getting it soon so I can test it off on my 1080i 40 inch HD LCD tv. (It sucks I baught it when it was supposedly the highest resolution, but then 1080p had to come out.)
I guess I should resign this...my second finally quit today (I've had no problems until today so it shocked me)...Halo 3 beta crashes...next thing I know I can't get to the dashboard and get the ring of death. :( Not only that I have to pay $104 (the discounted price since this happened to me before) to have it fixed since my warranty ran out...the second one was from the launch month as well...manufactured on the 27th in 2005. I'm a little pissed, but I love my 360 so I'm willing to pay.
I've had my 360 for over a year it still works. I've had three red lights once but I pulled out my hard drive and plugged it back in like the service told me and it seemed to work. I'm starting to wonder if I should send it in anyway??? It's been working just fine ever since. I bought the 2 year warranty on mine so I think i'll just play it till it takes a crap then get a new one.
Im on my 3rd, and right now I think most xbox's are being returned because of failing disk drives, all my 360's had disk drives that failed, and never the 3 rings of death.

im on my fourth. but i swear, believe it or not, ive taken good care of them. after my second one broke, they sent me a free game:D. even though a lot of people get all bent out of shape when their console craps out on them, i dont thinks its a big deal. as long as MS is willing to keep replacing my xbox, im happy. and hey, last time i called 18004MYXBOX, the support woman told me that if this one breaks down on me, they will send me a brand new one, free of charge.
Like i said in my post, i was told that if my fourth was to break, i would recieve a brand new xbox, as opposed to a fixed-up console. Are you getting a new console, or did they not say anything about this?
