I actually thought an intercooler was very necessary at first. However, they all just bring in more heat and they get really loud after a month or so. My first xbox died with and intercooler and even 1 of my cousins xboxes had its circuits and chips melted because of it. Im on my second xbox so far and Ive not had an intercooler on it for the year and 6 months Ive had it so far. I also play my xbox VERY often for long periods of time. Its in an open area and there is no vent blockage. If you think an intercooler will save you from overheating then go ahead and get it. It hasnt done any wonders for me, my cousins and plenty of others I know that have used it. LOL you are better off creating your own method for cooling your box.
well increase life span thats funny more like decreaseing
the intercoolors drain power from the xbox makeing it work harder
if u have a njew xbox dont worry about it
I thought the same, need intercooler with console.
then were I decided to put my 360 it had to stand up. so I bought a mad katz 4in1 stand. it has 2 fans remote controll holder and an aa battery charger as well as console stand.
I have had it for over 1 year now. on a 2006 made console. Yes console was made 12 months before I bought it brand new.
No, I have only heard bad things about intercoolers, and I haven't had any issues with mine for almost a year without an intercooler. FPS_Gamer123yeah but mine is in a pretty confined area too everyone else: I mean if I do get an intercooler, is there a specific type I should get?!?! and if so what type?
well the thing is though that my 360 is in a pretty closed space and thats where I want it! I've felt back in behind when it was runnign for a while and it feels extremely warm, so are you still sure that I wouldn't need it guys?maninatrunk
Wow, there is no way I would take the chance of running my 360 (or any other modern, sensitive electronics) in a closed space. When I first moved into this apartment, my roommate wanted me to set up my consoles in the cabinet section of our entertainment center, because she was afraid that if I put them on the top they would get knocked over easily. Instead what we wound up doing was putting the remotes and spare controllers and cartridges under there, because they don't need the ventilation. I would much rather risk having my 360 knocked over than put it in a place where it can't cool itself.
Also, I've never used an intercooler. My 360 doesn't get very hot unless I run it for a very long time.
I have a friend who has had his 360 since launch has had quite a few crashes. But since I told him to get a intercooler he has had none. I got one and it is a cheap insurance. For those skeptics I would get one and see for your self. PC's as well as consoles do produce a lot of heat and you do need to disapate it. A intercooler is great for that. If you crash or get freeze frame sydrome or other crashes this may even illiminate or at least reduce the frequency of this problem.
The old saying is "When in doubt, check it out" would apply to the skeptics. Using an intercooler should not cause your 360 to crash. Over heating will cause it to crash.

I personally think you should get an intercooler. My 360 was one of the first to hit store and I'd like ot think it hasn't red ringed because I was proactive about it. It's worth the money.....rather than having to send it in repeatedly.
