How Scary do you think Dead Space is

On a scale of 1 to 10 how scary world you rate Dead Space

It was scary but not over the top. After an hour or two you pretty much know what to expect.

This, I'd give it 5/10 mainly for the jump out factor, It was not that scary.

It was surprising...but not scary at all, 6/10 my favorite game on the 360.

I would say 8/10, I still have a hard time playing it for more than a half hour with the lights out.

I was scared to play the game as well lmao:lol:...It took me a full 2 weeks to put the game in my xbox 360 because the videos on youtube looked pretty frightening...BUT I gathered up enough courage put it in and it turns out that after the 2nd chapter it's not really that scary at all.;)

The game is like a 5/10 but the ending was pretty scary.crambles

The game was more gross than scary. I had a couple jump moments pretty early on, but the game quickly became a bit predictable. If you've played many id games, you'll be used to having some confrontation as a result of some other progression in the game. Hit the right switch, baddies pop out. Get the elevator powered up, same thing, etc.

The ending was also really predictable. I loved the game, though. It did have a cool atmosphere, and the level design and exploration aspects reminded me of other games I've loved like System Shock 2.

In the beginning, 7/10 but towards the middles 5/10. Things don't scare me when I'm very well armed with powerful guns and plenty of ammunition.

I found it had more annoying scares than real scares. 2/10

It was scary in the sense of "OH MY GOD THAT THING IS HUGE AND IM GONNA DYE NOW"

But seriously it wasstartling in the beginning but after a few levels you know just from where the baddies are gonna pop up

how can you get scared by a game?especially one where you play as an 7 foot asthmatic?

0/10, after a long line of horror movies watched none of the jump tatics worked.. All the mild blood didn't work also because I'm completely desensitized to violence.

I agree with most on this. The game does have its moments...but you are more aprehensive than scared I think. Just gets the adrenaline pumping. The sound is fantastically eerie though, and makes for a great experience. I would give it a 6/10.

Played in the dark with a goood set of headphones and it's eerie! Has a few really good jump moments aswell. I've poured hours into it and still jump at bits.

I (and prolly darkslayer too) have played SO many horror games that im immune to most "scare tactics" used in todays games

The Ending scared me pretty bad and so did the whole game but after awhile i got used to it. 8/10

Maybe 5/10 max. Most "scares" were predictable as hell but it gets at least +2 points for the ending (man that creeped me out) and the Necromorph that [spoiler] attacks you in the first elevator you enter. You know, where the doors are already closed and he opens the doors and sticks his head through but then the doors slam shut, decapitating him. [/spoiler] I swear, I thought I was necrotoast :P The atmosphere was largely well executed but bloody corridors and flickering lights only get a game so far.der_spudmeister

First time around, I nearly crapped myself. 2nd time around it was a breeze! And it was also pretty funny to see how the monsters scared you so bad the first time!DeadSarow

I would give it an 8/10. I usually try to scare myself though by turning out all the lights, only playing when there is no people to distract me, and put on headphones with almost full volume.

It was a very good, creepy, disturbing game. The sound of Dead Space was what really shone through, I think. I mean, dear God, how awful was it to listen to those things? The gameplay was impressively stunning and the storyline, though maybe not entirely original, was rock-solid. Focusing purely on the scary aspect, I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. On the whole, I'd give the game itself a 9.5 out of 10. It is simply very well put together in all ways.
