yep, i do more research on games than i have ever done on any research paper in high school. I hate making bad game purchases, especially now in these hard times, just cant afford it. I love when demos for my prospected purchases are available, makes things so much eaisier.

I'm the guy usually doing the research. In fact, a bunch of my friends and I have created DirtyTruth- Real Reviews by Real Gamers.

I always research now games are way to costly now to just go out and buy random ones. Also there are way more bad games then there are good games now and i dont feel like wasting my money so I weed out the bad ones with research

Research. Replay value and a multiplayer component is a big plus.

I'm in agreement with some of the other comments that i will pretty much always read revies and research a game before buying it unless it is like Cod 4 or something that i know i'm just going to have to buy!

I usually know which games are going to be good and which to get like if a new Rainbow game or Ghost Recon game or somthing like that came out I would maybe just check one or two reviews and buy the game.

I generally research games before I buy them, but if a game is coming out that I expect to be utterly top-notch, especially if that game has high-quality predecessors (Halo is a good example in my opinion), I preorder or buy without waiting for reviews.

Unless its games like CoD 4 and halo 3, Yes!

It's so important that you do that! It's the golding rule of buying games! Always, always, ALWAYS know what it's like before buying!

I almost always research games before I buy them, that way I know if the game will suit me and give me good value for money. The only time I think I've ever bought games on impulse are when I've bought a game that's been in a 'Buy One Get One Free' or '3 for £20/30' because I wasn't expecting to have to get a second game.

i read reviews but i never base my desicions on what a reviewr says because its his/her opinion. i watch videos and generally never make a bad purchase....except when i had my wii and bought sonic and mario at the olympics.....that game was horrid.

I always research my games before buying, I think it is kind of dumb to be buying something off the shelf without having a clue of what you've just purchased.

I used to only buy games that got good reviews (7s and up) but now I'm not paying attention to reviews as much and I just buy games that I think look great.

I believe it would be foolish not to research a game especially when they cost so much. In fact I research every big ticket item I put down my hard earned money on.Reviews for consumers are the best because they present both sides of the review. "The good, bad and ugly."

I always do my research in reviews and previews. Unless the franchise has already prooven itself (Halo, GoW, CoD)

There are too many games, and at 60 bucks a pop they are too expensive to simply buy one because it looks cool, or I heard someone say it was good.

Usually read the reviews, but sometimes it's impulse (Fracture, and recently Far Cry). Far Cry was cheaper than it usually was so I'm not upset about that one, but Fracture is $15 at Gamestop/EB right now and I bought it for $60.
