DayZ on next gen Consoles "Almost a Certainty" (Not April Fools)

DayZ creater Dean Hall was interviewed recently where he talked about what the Standalone meant in terms of hacking among other things and how working on it has lead to the possibility of a Console version of the game to come. A console version isn't being developed yet as they're trying to nail down the formula on PC first and then port it over but he showed strong posibilities towards it

"Certainly I think if we don't, for want of a better word 'fvck up,' the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain," But what consoles would be likely to see a DayZ title in the future? At the moment it seems like the PS4 may be the leading candidate. "It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see," he continued. "We've talked and met with Sony, and they're very - you know, they're obviously interested."

Personally I think it would be great. I'm not a fan of such great games and experiences being limited to one platform and the new changes to DayZ in the standalone could easily work on consoles I think. Not current ones but next gen ones. Not sure what interest console gamers as a whole have in the game though, going by here it's just a stupid PC MMO garbage game but then again, relying on SW for impressions of a gaming community is not very smart

xbox fans thinking 720 will be the best place to go for the biggest and best PC ports and western developed PC games might be in for a rude awakening

how so, dayz is'nt really that graphicly intensive of a game, any GPU can run it decently even my crappy computer. I don't consider a couple hundred people getting graphics cards as being alot of people. I'm pretty sure 35 times more people decided to upgrade their PC's for Scarcraft 2 then they did with DayZ.

By no means am I saying that DayZ is a bad game, its actually really fun. But the amount of people upgrading or getting gaming PC's is most likely pretty small.

DayZ is CPU dependant, not GPU. 

But I do agree I haven't seen a lot of people say they got gaming rigs for DayZ, more for things like Crysis 3 and BF3

Don't see why not. DayZ isn't unique because it's overly complicated. In fact it's the opposite. It's unique and awesome because of how simple it is.

If anything the console verison would be the one I would rather have. No hackers.

I've not tried DayZ yet. I'm guessing its not like Arma and has loads of keys being used? Otherwise they would need to strip the game down.

I, as well, doubt that, but I will say more people are buying ARMA 2 and the expansion packs more probably BECAUSE of DayZ.

It makes sense. Something like Arma would be a huge undertaking, but a console-refined DayZ would be awesome fun. Especially given that it could actually match the original, rather than having horrific scaling (360/PS3).

I thought this was pretty obvious. DayZ was the guy's Playstation ID when they showed off the PS4 (first trailer).

I still haven't played it as I'm waiting for the official release, but knowing how much better the PC online community tends to be I'd probably pick it up there.

Would be great. I play DayZ for roughly an hour on PC and liked it but it was rampant with hackers and glitches. An ironed out and hopefully upgraded version (seeing as it's PS4) on PS4 would be awesome.

I did about 5 months ago, since then I have been a full fledged PC gamer. cant remember the last time I bout a game for consoles now. This games is loads of fun once you learn everything.

I had 8gigs ram i7cpu and and gt520 w/2gigs ram and dayZ ran like crap, upgraded the video card to a gtx660ti and I can play with the graphics settings max, so I doubt its cpu dependant
