Sold. The ability to avoid battles completely is pretty cool
What a terible acrticle. I can barely read the info. Would it have killed him to brack some of that up?

I don't want to avoid them as such but the option to do it set off bells in my head. You can kind of know what the gameplay will be like if it allows this sort of stuff. You know now that guys can't see you from half the continent away and hit you with blinding accuracy. Far Cry 2 to me felt like it took most of the power away from the player but this seems to give it back to you and make you feel like a badass killing machine which is what a game like this should be. It's not a realistic military FPS game so don't treat it that way.

FarCry 2 forces you to avoid confrontation when possible, and be slow and careful, especially on higher difficulties where you die in 4 hits and have to start the mission over. FarCry 3 looks like more of a "one man army" game: a lone guy overcoming impossible odds. It will be a good change of pace.Black_Knight knows what I mean :P

With a big open sandbox like this that is exactly how you should feel though.Just Like making Just Cause 2 realistic would ruin that too. Im looking forward to this game now a lot more. Seems they have fixed some of the issues I was having with FC2, which was a huge shame because I really really wanted to love that game. It had the potential to really wow me. Still a lot of fun though
Sounds more like Far Cry Instincts that Far Cry 2 which is a GREAT thing!
I LOVED Instincts so much. One of the best shooters I have ever played. The online was just superb and the campaign was fun.
Far Cry 2 on the other hand was boring and totally lost my interest. One of the biggest disappointments ever...
If they turn out to have predator powers in this game I would be sooooo happy. The Predator gametype in Instincts was such an awesome and unique game mode.
Also, they best have the epic mapmaker in this game!

Instincts was one of the best games of last generation. But Far Cry 2 was pretty cool.
I'm still yet to finish Far Cry 2
I get the feeling the Jackal is Jack Carver.
Ilovegames1992
Close, it turns out the Jackal was just your alter ego and doesn't exist, and also you were dead the whole time.
Yeah its full of twists.

I think that's entirely dependent on difficulty though. Far Cry 2 on Normal could be played like a one many army type shooter, while Just Cause 2 on the hardest difficulty becomes insanely difficult. Hopefully its the same here, since I like being able to find a comfy difficulty level that suits my playstyle, and while I LOVE being able to play stealthy and free, I would hate for the game to limit others because its too hard.

I barely played much of it. Tried to love it but just couldn't. I thought it was pretty awfu;, especially when compared to how great Instincts was....
God that multi-player, having to level your **** up EVERY ROOM you went into....
The single player was just bad too...

You fuking bastardo.
Yep. Completely open like Elder Scrolls. You should pick up FC2 too. It's dirt cheap.Wait, so is this game open world like The elder Scrolls and Just Cause 2? Or is it open world like Crysis which had a set beginning and end point in a level but allowed for objectives to be tackled from many different directions?
hoola
Looks like a big improvement on Farcry 2 and looks more like the first games of the series. Really looking forward to it.

Yeah I was, but for that insult I will for real spoil it:
At the end of Far Cry 2, you go to arrest The Jackal on top of some building and you call your chubby black buddy to help you arrest him. Unfortunately on the elevator ride down you get shot in the head by the other Jackal (Jackal 2), who then shoots your chubby black buddy. Jackal shoots him, then makes it look like he was the arms dealer all along while he was innocent, but then Mark Wahlberg shoots him in the face in his apartment, then the game ends.
That is what you get for calling me a bastardo.

Its shaping up really good. FC2 was a major letdown but this seems to be the game that i wanted FC2 to be. I just hope i can do some scuba diving & some shark hunting :D
Im hoping they also work on the stealth as well, & not have every single enemy alerted to your presence, know where you are at all times, & have deadly accuracy from 20 miles away. I also think something like the last Known Position feature from Splinter Cell Conviction would work great for a game like this.
You'll be glad to know the last known position AI routine from Conviction is in FarCry 3, except without the ghost-Sam. It has been confirmed you can break the line of sight of the enemies and they won't know where you are anymore and will converge to where you 'disappeared'Its shaping up really good. Having finally played conviction this week I will say that's a good feature. At least it let's you know what's going on and you're not guessing all the time. It will allow for fast tactile combat. I'm sure higher difficulties will have it removed though
Also those pics look insane. I'm almost having a hard time believing they're all 100% in game. But they seem to be legit. looks great

hahaha you cracked me up :D^Looking forward to the new SC! :D
Is Far Cry 3 going to be a PC-release only or is it possible that it will be coming to consoles? Were any of the previous two games made for console as well or were those also PC-exclusives?Metamania
No its coming to all the consoles.

The first Far Cry is technically a PC exclusive. There was an indirect port that followed the same basic premise while giving the player some abilities that released on the consoles (Xbox, PS2, maybe Gamecube, I forget). Instincts itself had a sequel called Evolution for the Xbox and they also put both Instincts and Evolution on the 360 under the title Predator.
Then there was a crappy one made for the Wii, I forget the subtitle.
Far Cry 2 was then released on the 360, PS3, and PC.
