You know the answer to that already. So I hear there's a new GOW game out? How about that? Or is it GoW? GeOw? When did Kratos get a gun with a chainsaw on it?

I am desperately trying to think of a sexual/gender based pun for 'Ghost of Sparta'...but I can't.

However, I do have a shameless plug I wanted to post here. My IRL friend and I started a Youtube channel based on resistance training (no specific type, it's a hybrid sort of thing). If possible, I'd really appreciate if some of you guys could subscribe, like or maybe even comment on some of the videos.

If not, hey, I tried.

Something along those lines, but also...entirely different.

What?

Due almost entirely to old entries.  DSP is done with GoW1 now (maybe GoWII in the near future).  Deeb still has plenty of videos.  Adel and Tid have a few too.  Lucas has a collection of NURs to look at.  Zig has a write-up to comb over regarding some updates and SBK has a full run for GoW:A (PAIN+).  Xcalizorz is having a go with GoW:A right now too.
ADVICE for GUILE

Put on High Lightning RES, Use Fireweapons, Use Pyromancy, Poison (?), Bait Ornstein Away, Keep Smough between you and

Ornstein, block Smough's shit or use pillars, etc.  (Super Ornstein) Keep close if not using poison.  Pyro him.  Use fire attacks.  Dodge into his grab.  Watch for his ass stomp (evade away 2-3 times).  Keep enough stamina to evade as need be (don't get greedy).  Summon Solaire to help by at least distracting Ornstein (or fighting Smough while you distract Orn and maybe get some cheap shots on Smough).

Smough can be bled easily enough and isn't too resistant to poison/toxic until he's Super.  Orstein resists Bleed well, but not the others.  Smough takes decent damage from Lightning until Super.  Orstein will take almost none in either case.  Fire works well at all times for both.  Magic works well on Smough and slightly less so with Orstein.

Stone Set and Havel's both seem to have better Lightning Resistance, but will be heavier.  May or may not be an issue.  Might be worthwhile to switch to Eagle Shield for more Lightning block.  If you have a ring to reduce that damage further, that would be good.
Part 2 dropped. Trilogy of Terror upgraded toSeptology/Heptalogy (7 part series *one for each magical wishing orb*). If these were the Earth balls, Shenron owes Gokeks two wishes. Spend them wisely.

>any recent posts

I came back after my five year hiatus (not with teaching, just playing) to finish up with GoW:A. Even did the bonus credit (Clone War still remains in GoW1).

>sign up again

As it happens, gent appeared from nowhere to do much the same on YT (didn't respond after I asked about his conversion to Islam, prison time and fondling his niece). I'm justified in wanting the details am I not?

Sad to see that Unions look no more than a discarded afterthought rather than a full fledged feature of Gamespot like they used to be. I take it the God of War soft reboot didn't tickle your fancy? I quite enjoyed it, different as it was.

>I'm justified in wanting the details am I not?

Certainly. It appears I'm out of the loop as I wasn't aware of any of this. I hope he is okay and able to work these things out though, all the same.

>No "Mr"?

It seems this is no longer allowed, or at least, any variation of name I tried with a "Mr" prefix "wasn't available", and by the end I was getting pretty silly. The curse of being a trend setter I suppose...

>Nero

Ah yes. I actually don't hold any resentment for Nero. He doesn't have close to the presence of the brothers, but from a gameplay perspective I find him enjoyable and much less stressful than the complexity of Dante. Plus he's a little less whiny in 5.

But the Vergil add-on is a nice touch and by the far the most fun to play, IMO. Plus, it's Vergil.

I added the Vegeta video you posted to my Watch Later on Youtube, along with the other 200 videos that I will watch later.

>discarded afterthought

If you can believe it, that's what they were even back when I originally joined (2003's end). Looked much better and functioned correctly, but they were already being neglected. Truly fallen. In unrelated news, you see AKheon's coverage for GoW1's speedrunning history? I haven't gotten around to watching it just yet. Did get around to watching ThaRixer's version (more about fluffing Satvara's boner). Been shitting on the dipshits in the comments while helping the ESL to grasp what is lost in translation (they've got narration in the language of the modern GoW proper scene, but that doesn't cover the English screen capture excerpts).

>tickle my fancy

My disgust was such that I didn't even touch it (where with GoW:A I deprived them of dosh by way of waiting two weeks to get it used *no Plat as I refused even offers for the MP code to turn on the tutorial*). I've no time for shitty movies from failed actors wasting the talent of a competent combat dev (put a sound guy in charge of gameplay was a mistake *fucked up what little I found to have merit with his gross take on RPG mechanics*).

No, the task was left to SBK (as my truest successor), Wulf (modding extraordinaire would go on to find within the PS2 data of GoW1/GoWII that a working cheat code existed for unlocking and getting MAX everything *which the cunts at SSM should have given us on the first secret website instead of fake HD garbage*), Findlestick (glitching as ever), etc. tended to in my place. Royboy (more recent edition) dabbled. I don't believe Zim bothered (current best and most decorated runner). Xristos Zimnas was the first to show the beating of ToA W1 in VH PAIN+.

Alas, high level challenge runner work of the greatest purity does not attract many views (and one such as I cannot promote the work as things are). I'd probably have to make use of the less fine quality of Ranger that lets him net karma with Reddy, Twatter, etc. to get some circulation for the lad (as a favor to me for teaching him). Just doesn't sit right that one with such fine work should be so soundly ignored. Algorithm isn't going to do him any favors. Much of the existing scene is just BR time attack kids. Need someone who can show and teach that lot the things already learned in the old community (would be folly to re-learn and re-discover the hard way).

>aware of any of this

He's just been away. No reason was ever given. He had touched base with a chap or so before me, but all of these were years after last speaking with us. Merely making jokes as to the cause based on his past (memes about him) and his home country (how things are now in particular). Having a laugh, as it were.

>no longer allowed

God, we are POWERFUL and INFLUENTIAL. TUGOWU was truly the CHADS of GS (GFAQs kneels, of course). Speaking of such talk, I still enjoy helping kids to know GoW proper, but also DB. In particular, REMINDING the Gokeks that their jobber MC is terrible and always puts over his prince (Bejita-sama). A kissless idiot for all time, Milk will never lose her lip virginity (as the royal bull shall not bless the lips of this wench belonging to a low-class vassal *pitiful warrior that he is, even giving up the big 3-0 was always his for the taking and cannot be used as a bartering chip*).

>resentment

He's just a waste. Never needed to exist. His attempt at grabbing is just another style Dante should have had (and done better *more notes should have been taken from Kratos and Bayonetta as the superior there...where even Starkiller is better*).

>much less complicated

That is a different issue. Trying to please the cuhrayzee community (apparently crushed accidentally while exposing them to truth *between myself, SBK and Hotel primarily*, so some guy made a topic about use a decade later still mad about something I don't remember at all)...Well, let us say the went for quantity over quality while still managing to lose lots of great options. I wasn't impressed with DMC4 (not just about being incomplete with backtracking rehash strats halfway in).

SBK is right to shit on the series for multi-characters for what that leads to with enemy balancing (as if the franchise didn't have enough problems with being laughed at for a bunch of glorified sandbags to dick around with *Itagaki correctly saying NG's enemies are there to kill you while with DMC they are there for you to kill and feel good about little different from Musou*). Ultimately, it went down a path I could not and would not follow (wishing evil on them like DmC2 as they get rewarded to their tastes with DMC5 and we're further punished after GoW:A with Nu-GoW abandoning the formula as the latest cash-grab betrayal by the executives).

>Vergil

Seems to shine wherever he turns up. Just dominates (as with MvC). His kit doesn't change much, but he does well enough for himself with what the series has been since the third outing. I wonder how he would fit in with DMC1 or DMC2. The latter's gun focus would see his Summoned Swords likely just wreck house. The former...is sort of a mix. Would his SS be buffed for direct damage like guns? If having the confines of the entry, he might see his ways cramped just a bit. DMC2 had gear not in the others. I wonder if he would just opt out. He certainly seemed fond of amulets before he became a poetry-loving emo.

>Watch Later

Plenty that could be recommended, really. As for that which you specifically highlight, it is part of a series (as I describe above). The third part was not expected for months and might still go down that way. However, P4-7 are to be done as one (a mini-movie). Supposedly another week or so before that will drop. Haven't seen JaG for a bit, so maybe he's working on that. Or maybe it is more personal woes. Hard to say. Could have lots of contracts, as well.

>Gamespot

Old school forums just don't seem to be where it's at any more. Whilst I prefer the more organised nature of sequential posting and quoting, Reddit just seems to be the place to be nowadays. I'm not a fan of Reddit's "cascading" effect where every reply becomes smaller, it does make me long for "threads" like these, but ah well, things change.

Discord seems one of the better options for maintaining a community at present.

>New GoW

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The most notable mark against it being the lack of boss variety, but on the whole it was a good experience. I don't have any plans to get a PS5 in the near future, but Ragnarok will be on my eventual wishlist.

Your old-GoW rambles however; why no new videos from you? Why must we suffer through the potato quality of yesteryear still? I'm a little spoiled by being a PC vidya gamer now, so if I wanted to record, it's easy. Though I'm not sure if PS2 gameplay has become easier with time?

I don't keep up with gaming "communities" exactly, so I don't know how prevalent challenge runs are in any of them. Speedrunning has obviously taken off big style in recent years. Perhaps you just need to make GoW into the new Mario 64, and people will perfect it for years to come...

>The Gent

Which video of yours did he spring up on? Is he still using the same youtube account? Perhaps if I spam his videos with some comments he might come out of his hidey hole.

>Nero

Can't say I agree with the "grabbing should just be another style for Dante" angle. Distance management in DMC has always been a pain point, in the early days it was simply "we haven't figured this whole 3D action thing out yet", now it has matured into a more "git gud" approach. Nero is distance management on easy mode, and his new arm types, alongside existing mechanics like Exceed make him a distinct enough playable character that I think he slots in well. The same cannot be said for V.

>DMC criticisms

Can't say I really have a horse in this race, I don't play games as much as I used to, and I care to debate the finer points of them even less. But to play devil's advocate, I think this fellow you mentioned may not have fully digested the concept of "game design", wherein mechanics that may not be to someone's preference were still, in fact, an intentional choice on the part of the developer. If Capcom wanted to make a game like NG, perhaps they would just make a game like NG.

I think 5 was a return to form for the DMC franchise on the whole. Hopefully the gap between 5 and 6 will be shorter than 4-5.

>DBZ

I'll try to remember to actually getting around to watching that video then.

>not where it is at

Not invasive enough. Needs your Real ID to be part of the new wave. Ridiculous. You use a screen name? Your avatar isn't your 'pfp' (of you)? Weird. Bunch of willing cattle. Elites did their work well using public education (and higher education), media, etc. Nice narrative they've got going on for their antics.

>Reddit

A place founded by greedy scum who used bots and alts in a 'fake it to make it' set-up (aside from the right backing they were able to get owed to connections). The idea itself is just to steal clout by presenting that which is readily available (on a wide scale). A bootleg newspaper (that doubles as a shitty forum set-up). All that helped get it started into legitimacy was one activist who was ideologically opposed to them (only to find himself Epstein'd when accidentally uncovering such antics as with the noted at MIT). Once they had their foothold, the usual corruption could set it (scapegoating some silly feminist tool when it was the creator and those backing him causing this betrayal). The likes of Epstein's gal pal were big in the scene, you see. Pushing for access to kids. Lots of Karma.

NOTE: Karma as a concept in pop culture has flowers, but it is a poison used by the powerful exploiting that religion by a prince to keep the low born in their place. The caste system is reinforced by the notion that if you're born lackluster that is your past life's sin manifest. YOU are to deal with it (nobody should help you). The royals and other privileged? Clearly they should be celebrated for ice-skating uphill. They were great before. Just live your life 'right' and accept your place until you die. Do it right and you'll move up in the ranks, bro.

Reddit would use this concept in a more extreme fashion than the already corrupt GFAQs. Massive amounts of botting and alts to upvote oneself if not saying 'the right things' (not doing something praiseworthy or being actually smart *let alone correct*) to get absurd tallies you will NEVER get for just posting neutral feats, testing, etc. The closest you can come that way would be with 'content creation'. Nowhere near as effective if not playing to their politics. If you go against the concensus? Expect to be downvoted into oblivion (not even by humans necessarily *though they are happy to play NPC for the PC on their PC...or phone*). Don't expect to last with an account if speaking to the heart of things in politics. The mods and admins issue is part of the problem certainly, but the design itself encourages echochambers, groupthink, hivemind and such. Rather forced and disgusting. One such as myself sticks out as a sore thumb even when going light.

>Discord

I dislike their set-up (and culture), as well. I've wholy rejected talk of a TUGOWU there. I hate voice and video shit, additionally. The former was only tolerated for the sake of out-reach where GFAQs was lackluster. Hard to even get at them with the systems in place to prevent "trolls" (people disagreeing with the approved outlook). One would have to set-up a fake and act the part to that end. Play their game. With Discord, they only exist for me to work one fellow to the end of REMINDING the Gokeks, really. To Hell with the new age crap. Image Boards are as far as I go away from this formula, really. Even then, I wouldn't seriously discuss matters much outside a 'general' (itself forbidden). The likes of /dbs/ overpower the rules with force of will. Accepted as containment shy of getting their own board (not as massive as others of this sort going that route).

>boss variety

Re-use or something more? Having one boss be a regular foe (major grunt tier) with inflated HP amused me (along with a bug to insta-kill him).

>no plans for PS5

Too pricey and not enough in the way of games (as the field moves into waters I don't care for *ever closer to streaming and subscriptions only to make you accept owning nothing, eating the bugs, living in a pod, etc.*).

>why no new videos

Nothing changed. I never really updated by set-up for videos. I don't have any familiar with my current (old) PC on the front of editing. I don't have a great connection (just passable). I was going to spend the money for a cheap and simple set-up to that end before the Rona dashed that (along with the home I was getting). I was always successful with raising up new vets with some of them showing things for me. I continue to do just that (as with Xristos Zimnas *better still, finding things of his own and showing them off as fresh content*). Investment paid in full with interest. Love to see it. The prospect of recording, editing, uploading, etc. against doesn't appeal even before considering what YT has become (and how it would take to my old approach using music on muted, edited sections of the game). To Hell with the whole thing. When I'd started YT had only just recently been bought out, but was still growing its base before the knife would be twisted (time and again).

>why the potato

The truest experience with high level play, really. Look no further than Zim. The CHAD camera versus the virgin capture. The only capture I'd done was for showing Oni my SL1 NUR+ in DaS3 since it was built into the machine. Helped with teaching him how to approach fights (though he was playing vanilla where he would happily over-level, cheese, etc.). PS2 is not like that. Having a 'newer' phone can help with the 'cam' quality along with a better TV. It will be slightly more viewable. But a capture? Not so much, I'm afraid. And the PS2? Don't have it after the move. That is why I couldn't use Wulf's finding. Frustrating, indeed.

>taken off

Hilariously corrupted into a bunch of wig and stilletto wearing mental midget degenerates with their feelings on their sleeves. The things one would (deservedly) be ridiculed for are often celebrated (if not shielded) among them.

>which vid

I forget. Probably the last one? Or maybe it was a BK vid. He seemed attached to fighting him (and 'purplization'). Could have been the 'secret website' thing. Don't really recall. Don't know with Findlestick which it was, either. Never checked. Probably didn't say anything unique between the two, so either suffices. Went by his real name, which didn't sit well by me. Perhaps a lobotomy while he was away? Beaten down away from the chap you knew into one more able to make it in UK society?

>spam his vids

I'm not sure he logs into that account or the attached email (if he gets notifications as such). Might just be wasting your time, lad.

>same account

No. He always fancied sock puppets more than myself (even beyond trolling necessity).

>Nero da Cero

Were you wanting a longer talk with someone who actually cares to bother with him (and what DMC became), you would want my protege (SBK). Not sure you two ever got to meet. I doubt it. I've long-since washed my hands of playing the franchise (a once-through of DMC4 was it for me). I only regret not getting back to DMC3(SE) for challenge run work to insult that crowd (/cgg/ while it existed) with shit-talking during a run ignoring style as much as possible while beating everything along the way. Get them low ranks while playing efficiently otherwise. Would be hard for me to force myself to go in with the item spam just for the sake of pissing on them (as it would devalue the run itself). Likewise, I wanted to work Bayonetta (wouldn't fuss over ranks, but wouldn't spurn them to that extent either). Kept having bad luck (lost a 100% file three times just before I could do NUR and higher for each character on VH).

>distinct

Not really the issue.

>V

Ignoring the previous concern alluded to, this one is faulted for being what he is (to a more extreme degree). I'm to understand this is another rip-off of 'Chaos Legion' as with their version of Mary (Lady). Just that they did a bad job, so people don't readily accept him.

>horse in the race

I think you were still present back when I would mock the lot with "hard cambows". Made sure they were unwelcome in TUGOWU with that mindset. Bunch of ****-abouts. Disgusting. Anti-thesis to my ways.

>the fellow

You don't now Itagaki? That's surprising. Perhaps you forgot.

>the concept

I think he understands just fine. Just that he rejects it. Took a swing at them. A fun low-blow to something that has truth to it. Most of the enemies exist to be styled on. That's a fact. The enemies most reviled for what the series would become are those that deny them this. Bayo2 started having enemies able to escape (to some extent) and that was a fiasco. Don't mess with their art show performance with their willing dancing partner (stuck from start to finish in some foppish bit of expression). Fun to tease with things even if not necessarily one-hundred percent accurate.

Kids loved coming at us with PoP talk. NG always got shat on for OLC UT (in particular). DMC? Their fucking jump having i-frames was one thing (now ER dabbles with it), but OP items (easily grinded)? HA! This without getting into absurd displays like Distorted Real Impact. Well worth taking shots at them when their attitude and ego gets too out of pocket. Have to humble the brats. If they could have withheld their jealousy, there would be no need to be so cruel with them (also if they stay in their lane *no corruption desired as executives are keen enough to sell us out*).

>return to form

Some form, anyway. A more completed title. Even if that means enemies that are there to be juggled like the flashy balls they are lacking the sort of depth one can get with just a single character to build and balance around. A trade-off was made (seemingly for keeps). Not sure it is one I'd make.

>4-5 years

Still holding out for DmC2 to punish that lot. I'd heard talk it was actually possible. Would be good for a laugh. Maybe add multiplayer and online (no co-op to that end) to waste resources in DMC6. A curse upon that community. No need to do that to NG as it is dead as is. Bayo 3 keeps pretending it exists...and Nu-GoW isn't GoW at all. An identify thief wearing a mask. TLoU, Souls, etc. bastardized into this...thing. I wonder if Derek will have his toil squandered a second time in a row (or leave them partway through as in GoWIII). That piece of trash Jason may well finish the project as director at this rate. Just keeps climbing ranks.

If lucky, he'll stay the Hell away from gameplay (only combat remains given what was done to platforming). Maybe it has a chance as something else? Probably the thing that most aggravated was an even more casual version of the mainstream appeals manifesting with a more advanced concept (delayed input strings) that he was NOT permitted to include in the past (not even for a sub-weapon). Who gets to work them? Cuhrayzee's mind-rotted bunch. No justice. Riding the wave for the Nordic fad was also unsightly. Already they seek to cast it aside. Pathetic.

>try to remember

See that you do (lest you deprive yourself). Good for a laugh as these are comedy videos (as much as they pose as informative collections *useful if you don't know a thing about a subject matter, but if you're advanced it is only for the commentary you give a view*). You can enjoy my antics in the comments, too. As you should expect, I'm very gentle with my adversaries. Quite patient with their misunderstandings, too. Not at all would I dream of using them for my pursuit of schadenfreude. Not in my nature, as you know.

>Not invasive enough.

Whilst I'll be the first to bemoan the current state of privacy, this is a bit played out. None of the forum "replacements" I mentioned require an ID, and the amount of people with a profile picture of themselves (a choice, I'll add) is miniscule to the point I'm not sure I've even seen it on Reddit.

The only platform I use that bothers me for not giving them my ID is...youtube. No age restricted content for me.

>Discord

Not sure if you're aware, but if you're not a fan of voice and video communication you can just...not partake. A server also has zero requirement for these channels to even exist.

Discord serves a purpose, and serves it reasonably well, with a healthy share of flaws like any platform.

>boss variety

Yes, the same boss re-skinned (and at one point, twice in the same fight) was a bit meh.

>pricey PS5

Indeed, and I have a very competent PC so it doesn't really make any sense to stray elsewhere for a couple of games at best.

>Speedrunning

I must say, it amuses when someone is quick to inject the elite into a conversation, and then in the next breath play Judge against proles. The existence of the elite is predicated on us caring about what other poor people are doing rather than pointing the finger at the real divider (class). You (in my opinion correctly) point out how well the elite are doing at conditioning people to accept a lower level of privacy, but it seems you might also be falling prey to their other tactic; division.

I don't much care what speedrunners get up to outside of their speedrunning.

>SBK

Meh, I can't say I'm particularly interested in musing about this at length. Games just don't occupy a big enough space in my life now. I simply don't find Nero's character that bothersome.

>I think he understands just fine. Just that he rejects it.

Cute, but it's not really something you can "reject", the game design exists whether or not he wishes to acknowledge that. And ultimately I don't see the "DMC is not NG so it must be bad" argument as a very compelling one. They're largely different games, born to be compared due to being in the same genre.

Which tangentially brings me to something I'm curious about. I don't remember this place ever picking up GoWIII with the same enthusiasm as it did I and II. Why didn't GoWIII receive any of the love?

>played out

All good things with time. Like rules where 'misbehavior' (or 'thought' *speech*) 'breaking rules' (vagueries) on one results in ban cascades (among other fun things *illegal to "troll" in the gent's neck of the woods with an actual police division checking your loicense even for whacking it*). For now they've eased up on their fake vax pushing, so that's swell.

>profile pics on Reddy

Might be less terrible than their latest alternative.

>YT

A host of issues to be sure. Tons of blacklisted terms/phrases in English alone. This to say nothing of the uploader side. Comments are largely ignored by human mods with no real punishment even now though I had noticed an amusing flag more recently.

>if I'm aware the instant messenger style of chat has that option

I never liked that shit, either. No a/s/l for me. I only deal in ESL (like with the Gokeks).

>not partake

As it happens, I tend to liberally make use of this (for most of these "platforms" *read: publishers*).

>boss re-skins

ER doing it proud as a fellow Norse-flavored title. Instead of boring walk-and-talk, just tons of mule ass galloping across a vast wasteland (or half dozen). Was never much for open-world, either. One of the biggest issues I took with Dragon's Dogma.

>make sense

It would have to be a Hell of a title from a favorite franchise to not just wait a few years or so for emulation if not some sort of official project (so many titles just end up on PC now it makes consoles more and more pointless).

>division

I'm not interested in the matter of "elite" in the sense of cash, friend. No, I mean it in quite another way. You've been away for some time now, so it can't be helped if it would be interpreted in the more traditional sense. Rest assured, I'm not a commie nor even socialist by any stretch of the imagination. Take this matter of the Slavs slapping each other. Who to side with? Neither. Their leaders on both side are puppets to the higher powers that only one thing can right. And it isn't dialogue. Moving away from more serious matters just a bit, if you're privvy to AoT/SnK, my stance ought to be an easy one to guess at. Two words say it all. King Floch.

>care what they get up to beyond running

All corruption proves unsightly to me. Worse when it begins directly affecting the communities (as it will when left alone). Were it something that could be ignored sensibly, why not? Were it only so. These types will come for anything and anyone.

>big enough space

Short on time? As it is with me. I don't play anything these days. Were I freed up, it would be different certainly. Instead, I mostly troll idiots and evaluate the work of newcomers with familiar titles. New content is merely entertainment.

>his character

I'm not at all considering him as a person. Just a thing that doesn't need to be (and never ought to have been). The concept for him was the belief casuals needed a tutorial character (simple). After combining styles as they did with Dante, well....

>it exists

And he rejects it as a good or valid path.

>don't see it

All you need to see is that he ridicules the titles for too many sandbag foes just there to be treated as a circus clown's prop. Whether or not one can base a game around dicking around (clearly they can) is another matter. He just finds an angle of attack and did so (without being too kind about it). A fun tool to use against the 'cuhrayzee' community when they get too full of themselves. One has to have their weapons, you see. You're not unfamiliar with the bouts of old between top HnS titles. I'd already briefly touched on some of the top ammo against NG and GoW proper (no need to get into Nu-GoW again).

>largely different

Were one so inclined, they could say they are largely different in that regard (enemies that are engaging by way of providing a challenge through actually trying to kill you in a way that isn't a hollow prop). Wouldn't be very charitable, but it is an angle to work. Itagaki was a funny fellow (his face, especially *then there was the shades wearing habit in the dark plus the dumb leather jacket*).

>GoWIII

I wasn't able to be here. Simple as that (Neuro had a hand in getting that ball rolling). GS hadn't yet made TUGOWU difficult to reach (no more so than usual). That might not have been until after the final entry. We worked with alternative boards in that era (along with GoS *much of that talk is lost when not resorting to GFAQs and hoping to come across quality chats*). By the time of GoW:A, much of the community was wrecked (even before that title sent away most of the vets that remained). Bad enough most will bow out when the main trilogy is concluded (prequels and interquels don't tickle people as much as sequels). Also, GoWIII isn't as good as the PS2 entries.

Been a little busy, back now.

>Elden Ring

I'm looking forward to playing this. I'm not in a rush to get it, perhaps when steam has a sale, but I do like Soulsbourne games, so it'll probably be in my wheel house. Open world games are hit and miss but in general I've always enjoyed them. They need to be fundamentally good games, as well as open world, but I do like freedom.

>Rest assured, I'm not a commie nor even socialist

Well, that doesn't really assure me (or affect me at all, but still). Do bear in mind that I'm from the UK, and whilst in many ways we are America's cousin, and whilst our leading government party wants us to turn into the near-dystopian nightmare that is the US, we still don't undergo the same amount of capitalist conditioning here in Europe as you guys do over there.

That being said, I don't believe we (the western world at large) can even really debate capitalism, because we don't live in it. It's corporatism masquerading in my opinion.

I'm not familiar with AoT/SnK, at least not from the abbreviations. Enlighten me?

>Short on time?

Indeed, work takes up 40 hours of my week (but no more, thankfully due to working from home), I still try to get a few hours of training, mostly weightlifting now, in during the week. I do still spend a few hours a week gaming, but it just doesn't feel like it used to. More of a distraction, brief glimpses of fun rather than something I thoroughly enjoy and feel passionate about, like when I was a teen.

What keeps you busy nowadays?

>Were one so inclined, they could say they are largely different in that regard (enemies that are engaging(...)

Well, I'd actually completely agree with this. Perhaps I should clarify my position in case I wasn't clear enough. I actually do think the NG games are harder on the whole. The enemies are certainly more bloodthirsty and being off-screen doesn't prevent them from attacking you. My contention is that this makes NG automatically a better game. Different, yes, better to some, why not? But tougher enemies != better game.

Part of the difficulty of DMC is playing it "cool", it's more intrinsic. It's still harder than a lot of action games, but can you look good playing it?

I actually have fond memories of NG2, the sycthe and arm/foot blade weapons (the name escapes me right now) were excellent and I loved the limb severing mechanic that led into special kills. If they brought the series back with this spirit in mind, and less of the weird crap they pulled in the third, I'd certainly be interested.

>GoWIII

A shame. I played it through once on a friend's copy and I think I liked it. But the fact I have barely any memories of the game also can't be a good sign.

>been busy

These things happen. I've got some gents on the backburner myself. Need to get back to Wright, at least.

>Steam sale>maybeMore probable than my ever getting around to it.>fundamentally goodThere are good fundamentals, but I wonder how much is undermined by the time it was made in (and how much that excuses the incomplete nature of the game). Balancing is one thing, but it is a curious thing to see NPC questlines being updated with patches regularly. SBK was taken aback by this, so opted to wait things out (until it is 'finished').>not assuredWhat would?>the UKAh, yes. That's it was. As with the gent, then.>capitalistAnother ploy by these same types, yes.>here in EuropeJust not the EU (anymore). Not that it means much (given the masters remain the same *as they are here*). It would have been fun to tease about enforced anarchy while it wasn't quite so apparently a thing even in my region. Now I just need the child sex trafficker gangs to run rampant as with some of the fine stops across the pond. Rascally "Asian" fellows.>not true capitalismWhat really gets to be 'true' (for long)? Even history is a troublesome matter. Don't go asking the wrong questions now.>not familiarAn anime. Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin. An unfortunate affair, indeed. Amusing now to see reactions to the final season (three parts, which is just dandy). Observe the different takes on what should be a rather obvious and logical conclusion. Makes for a good insight into the viewers (along with those in the comments).>40 hour weekAs it is with me. Just not this week (happenstance led to it being a team move to give up a shift to help with a scheduling blunder, so I made use of it to visit my mother).>weightliftingBeen a decade since I'd touched the stuff.>feel like it used toI'd be largely the same as in my youth if I had the time (I don't enjoy short sessions). Not quite so obsessive as before that I would just make it work (else I probably wouldn't be making time to respond now *at least now without delay*).>keeps me busyTrolling, teaching GoW and work (rather than school). Largely as it was before sans gaming.>harder on the wholeNecessarily the case given it is by intent (things being faster, hitting harder, being more aggressive, etc.). One lacking in reaction time is left in a poor spot (as with myself). Really have to be on your toes (likes to punish turtling, too).>off-screenSmall mercy is shown in DMC with lots in GoW. I don't recall NG having much of any on that front.>automatically betterJust a talking point used as a jab (like mocking GoW for QTEs, CS mini-games, etc.).>playing cool is part of the difficultyIf one humors the optional style system. I was amused how commonly it is tacked on to run conditions as a default (just assumed one would be going for it). A bit presumptuous.>look goodItself subjective. **** about play disgusted me more and more as the years went on (preferring more strongly meta *love of efficiency*). Expression can be had, but the manner described as 'cuhrayzee' has long since last luster.>scytheA pity we never got one in GoW. Lunar had some things I would have liked for SoD.>TalonWanted this as Stheno's Claws in GoWIII.>limb severing mechanicOT, yes.>weird crapSoB comes to mind, but I forget much of the NG3 fiasco.

>think I liked GoWIII

A fine sign to recall it so well, indeed. Perhaps you could feel the departure of some original devs (as with the combat team). Skorpius in particular irked me for higher level runs (as more of the issues began to stand out *aside from begruding an overgrown insect being in rather than the final gorgon sister*).

NOTE: GS has fucked my formatting up hilariously (like the old days *maybe you recall how "style" would get a post deleted among other fun recollections*). Don't have the time to try fixing it (already gave it one pass).

>Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin

Ah, I see. I've not seen it, actually. The only anime I can really say I've watched is Dragonball Z/GT/Super (never did get around to watching plain old Dragonball), Death Note back in the day, and One Punch Man. Some of it seems cool, but I dunno, I've never felt drawn to trying more of it.

>Off-screen

I respect it as a control mechanic in some games, like GoW as you say. I also don't think it's a thing in NG, crowd control is important in both but for different reasons.

>Scythe

Ah, indeed. A cool weapon to have in any game. I wanted Thanatos' scythe in Hades'. Have you seen much of that? It's a fun little game, if it weren't for the reasonably fast pace of it I'd say you might enjoy it.

>NG3 fiasco

Likewise, I only ever played the demo and I barely remember that, except for not liking it. Even though I don't think NG2 did well critically if memory serves, I think it was what it should have been as a game. They should have just continued in that vein, and maybe tried to figure out what it was that made NG Black so highly regarded.

>GoWIII

Perhaps you're right and I did subconsciously notice a lack of polish and quality. It always seems to be a risk to develop a game in the early days of a new console.

>Formatting

I remember those days fondly..."style" and..."class", if I remember rightly? With a bit more knowledge behind me now (I am not a front end engineer by any stretch, but I know enough to get me by) I suspect this may have been because style and class are CSS attributes, which interfered with Gamespot's HTML. It should have been validated better but...these things happen.

>watched GT and Super

Such suffering. Presumably this is an anime-only account, then. That would be the norm. We talking original run ENG dub, then (Ocean into FUNI)? I'd seen a mix of JP with it (only sampled the alternatives) as I'm impatient enough to have peaked well ahead during the three years or so of Radish arriving on Earth.

>no DB though

Both a relief and a pity. DB is markedly different on most levels until the Pickle Senior (editor change shifting towards what would be later marketed as Z *departing after Cell*). It is a difficult thing for me to power through (even to report hilarious jobbing instances and create new ammo while furthering my understanding of canon). I still have to rewatch the whole of it, as it happens. A daunting task, indeed. Not even sure I've seen all of its films, actually.

You learn funny things by peering into the past. Chaps mocking Bejita for losing to a woman (read: cybernetically enhanced human far surpassing even the space slum lord with robit parts glued to him)? Better not read the source as the conclusion of the first arc sees their 'hero' being fooled (as a teen, not a child) by arrows taking him to a dead end, getting trapped like a rat and then jobbing to normal gas. He is then robbed by his superior (that being the normal human female Mai *whom super pairs with the royal family known for defeating the vassals, so this does give her a solid qualifier other than AT raffing in 'SS' of another sort*).

>Death Note

Bit of a disappointment in the second half, I'd say. The manga didn't exactly help the matter with its alternate take.

>OPM

S1 was great. S2 was dogshit. Part of it was the light bloating being felt in the manga adaptation of the webcomic, but really the studio change severely sabotaged the momentum. Then the manga quality dipped severely in a series of redraws stalling long-awaited events, massive alterations were made, etc. The "hype" indeed died. This while ONE has effectively gone MIA with updating the source. JP has a problem with ending things properly. I wonder if Miura would have bungled Berserk had he lived long enough to conclude it. Definitely not the man he was during the peak years of its tone.

NOTE: Plenty of options to consider out there. Many decent rides, but with a good finish? Few and far between, I'm afraid. SnK/AoT? Not among them. Not at all. Worse even than Prison School's disaster.

>not a thing in NG

If it has any influence, it is minimal. Royboy or AD could expand on it, but I got the impression you would just continue to get pelted with whatever while being challenged to keep track with the camera or be aware of incoming attacks (however one might do so). Only so much to be done with moving about (while trying to go on the offensive) let alone changing the venue (as one tends to get locked in for an encounter from time-to-time in these games *some do it more than others*).

>Hades

A more recent title. No, I never got around to watching anything from it.

>highly regarded

Among a certain crowd. I'm not sure how one can really court the mainstream with a franchise like this. Was a matter of time before executive meddling would casualize the series (even sanitize the fetish stuff).

>early days

Yes, it was a bit of a different situation from GoW1 (near the dusk of PS2 while GoWII was in the deep of midnight *a proper swan song*). I forget where PSP was when RAD made CoO, but I know GoS was effectively a showcase for the platform (about at the end of its potential *and real support*). Vita was (thankfully *and surprisingly*) skipped. Starting so soon into PS3 was clearly to try and keep some momentum (also atonement for the 'NO GAMES' era). Too bad they were already trying to screw us even then (just to cash-grab with a milking session to close the door on us *GoW:A*). The audacity of trying to blame the formula they bastardized as an excuse for Nu-GoW. It is a fine thing we pressured them into admitting their bullshit.

>style and class

Yes, old "forbidden" words. Might have cheerleaded them were that still a thing. S to the T to the Y to the L to the E, for instance. Got to keep it C to the L to the A to the S to the S to the Y (something exploitable for YT's blacklist *secret no-no words and phrases with the latter pertaining to even combos of words mixed in any order throughout parts of a message at one point*).

>these things happen

And apparently some fuckery still is. Imagine the shock felt seeing more bungling here.

Not quite the Goku (Jobber) Part 3 (to 7) I was going for, so we'll have to see about putting that back on the menu. Until then, have this:

Limitations on editing old posts prevent me from just using the last one (hard times). No matter. This is the follow-up the previous installment promised. Apparently we're going over Marvel first (probably DC later *didn't watch yet*):
