Your top 6 games from gen 6 (PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Dreamcast, etc)?

Gen six is considered one of the greatest ever. It was the last time I can think of where there were four consoles that all had strong libraries. With that said, here are my top 6 from this era:

• Metal Gear Solid 2 - the whole 'information age' thing still relevant today
• Resident Evil 4 - best RE game to mix action and horror, and one of the best action games ever. Pretty much the reason why I got a GameCube.
• Resident Evil REmake - still the best RE remake in my opinion
• Shenmue - didn't play until I got the HD version, but still great 20 years later
• Okami - this game came out of no where and was amazing. loved it.
• Tie between MGS 3 and Shadow of the Colossus - a lot of people loved MGS 3, I thought it was good. The boss fights were creative (especially the River of Sorrow). And you can't forget SNAKKKEEEE EAAATERR! But Shadow of the Colossus was an amazing narrative achievement in games. Still one of the most unique games out there, and was a performance achievement for the system. I have my HD collection handy!

Honorable mentions: Windwaker (played HD version), Twilight Princess (played HD version), Final Fantasy X, Smash Bros Melee, God of War, Marvel vs Capcom 2

Never played: Metroid Prime (hopefully it comes to Switch!), Tales of Symphonia, Silent Hill franchise (I have the games, and I hope to get to it some day), Viewitful Joe (I have it, and played a little bit of it, but really need to do a playthrough. I love the gameplay and the aesthetic).

@SolidGame_basic: You should get some gaming culture and buy a Dreamcast to see what real great gaming was back in that gen.

There are a ton I didn't mention which were amazing. Such a great generation.

Final Fantasy X and Super Smash Bros Melee are the two easiest choices to put in there. After that becomes much harder.

Shadow of the Colossus is definitely one of the most memorable games I've ever played so I think I would include it.

Then I think it might look something like God of War, MGS3, DMC3, Ratchet Going Commando and UYA and Burnout 3.

Six games from Gen 6 (my all time favourite generation)? My list will contain a few more titles because I played the hell out of this gen.

GameCube: Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart Double Dash, *Splinter Cell, Sum of all Fears, Super Monkey Ball

Xbox: Halo CE/2, Rainbow Six 3/Black Arrow, Ghost Recon/Island Thunder, Half Life 2, Project Gotham Racing 2, Burnout 3: Takedown, Splinter Cell/Pandora Tomorrow/Chaos Theory, Mech Assault, Crimson Skies, Carve

PS2: Nothing stood out to me. Maybe Socom 1/2?

Never owned a Dreamcast.

* I list Splinter Cell twice due to the GameCube version having a GBA connection which changed the game somewhat

I was thinking back to gen 6 before reading some of the comments and the more i saw the more i thought "man that really was a cracking gen".

I forgot Deus ex was during that gen too. i keep thinking its the tail end of gen 5 for some odd reason :S. anywho:

@SolidGame_basic: Not really in the order but Crazy Taxi made me discover The Offspring band at the time and depending on the thread relating to top games, I'll put it higher on my rating but this isn't one of them.

Its got nothing to do with being an expert, its clear that you didn't even own any Sega consoles from your past 2 "top" games list.

As for me I can't name a top 6 or whatever because it would change all the time, occasionally when i'm bored I entertain these threads, and when i'm done I think of dozens more games that could easily replace the ones I put down, so to ME to the process is pointless.

Not only that, but these threads get recycled 3 or more times per year.

lol, the 5th and 6th gens I wasn't even a grown adult with disposable income. Had to choose the best console! But I respect Sega immensely. I had a Genesis and a CD, but again, didn't really have a lot of games back then. Shenmue 1 & 2 are definitely one of my favorites of all time. I played Crazy Taxi in arcades where it belonged! Jk. It was fine on console. I played Power Stone with friends, but it wasn't my thing. Soul Calibur wasn't my thing back then either. I heard the sports games were great, but never got into them. I played a little of Sonic Adventure, but I could tell it was a cool game. Have it on Steam.
