Your favorite/worst Grand Theft Auto game series you played!

As you can see, these are all the GTA games to date and I just about played them all except London & Advance.

GTA III will always be special and unique for me personally because it was absolutely revolutionary for it's time on PS2 and unlike anything else, really hard to believe you could do all those things in one game. That said, Vice City improved on the formula with a really cool 80's theme but kept dying when you land in water and that was a bitch, and San Andreas is probably the best and most expansive one looking at it objectively which improve everything including ability to swim.

GTAIV is the least of my favorite of the main titles with a boring city and sloppy driving physics, and GTAV while certainly better didn't capture the same magic as the PS2 trilogy. Story was lackluster, controlling 3 characters was cool. Still lacked the variety that San Andreas had (where's San Fierro and Las Venturas) but overall, it's still the latest GTA game released and how will GTAVI? Only time will tell. That said, what's your faovrite & worst GTA game?

Looking at that list, and those I've played, I'd say GTAV.

Fav: GTA 5 pretty easy for me having played it over 2 playforms

Worst:GTA London the top down ones have aged very poorly.

Fav: Sanandreas

Not fav but ok: GTA 5

Underrated : GTA 4. The internet hates this game too much.

My favourite is Chinatown Wars, but I haven't played a lot of the rest of them.

Favourite: GTA

Other ones I like: London, GTA2, GTA Chinatown Wars

Least favourite: GTA4. It sucked.

Other ones I don't like: All 3D GTAs. And GTA: Advance was really rough.

GTA IV was underrated but I did enjoy the DLC more than the full game.

Exactly. The Ballad of Gay Tony is what GTA4 should have been but i enjoyed it either way.

Fave: San andreas. Easily had the most content. My fave story and loved the setting and Radio

Least fave: Liberty City Stories

Not that it wasn't good but playing it on the PSP made gameplay difficult with one thumbstick

There are a ton of games here that I consider classics, but some might not have aged so well: GTA 2, Vice City, The Ballad of Gay Tony, Chinatown Wars

All of them have something truly unique and I'm especially fond of all the ludicrous missions many of them had.

Least favourite:

Even this wouldn't be a bad game though. Even the spin-offs like Liberty City and Vice City Stories had a ton of care and polish put into them, where they could easily be ported and were ported to consoles.

So I'd say the most overrated one is probably... GTA V, eventhough it has a tremendously fun multiplayer.

Vice City is my fav for sure. Expands on III without bloat and stylistically is a masterpiece.

My least fav is SA. It expands into bloat territory where the density is to much to bear.

Grand Theft Auto was never a particularly deep game. But it's pacing matched that be it the map size, the mission length or the story campaign.

SA is an ocean an inch deep, a person at an all you can eat buffet who doesn't know when to stop.

Another one I really enjoyed was vice city except the flying mission if I remember correctly. The soundtrack was great.

My favorite is GTA San Andreas. My least favorite is GTA IV.

I haven't been able to bring myself to finish any. I guess 5 had the most compelling variety of activities and stories. 3 is also somewhat special to me being one of my first ps2 games and the first 3D one

GTAV is the best.

GTA4 sucked.

VC and SA were awesome but aged badly. They are unplayable today. Same with GTA3.

GTA1&2 are okay if you are into top down retro styled gameplay.

Best: SA/VC
Worst: IV

San Andreas - favorite. It plays perfectly fine, 3 distinct cities. Not trying to be realistic. Garbage checkpoint system hurts it though

4 - good story, clunky movement. Episodes had more entertaining missions from what I remember, been a long time since I played them. Like Vice City's vibe but it has terrible camera and controls. Also has the terrible checkpoint system.

5 - least favorite. clunky movement, not funny, lame characters. GTA Online has some good stuff but riddled with mtx and now they basically just milk it instead of actually making games. (Outside of RDR2 which is also riddled with mtx)

Fav: GTA 2 and it was ok

Worst: All of them. they are some of the most overrated games ever ever made.

Best: Vice City

Worst: IV

Chinatown Wars I like when I played it on PSP. It was the only time your able to sell illegal drugs which I thought was cool to do.

Don't feel bad, I never finish Vice City myself and it's the only GTA game I have never completed.

GTA is hardly overrated, just fun to play around with.

These are the only ones that I’ve played:

1. GTA V - is my favourite.

2. GTA IV

3. Vice City - really enjoyed it.

4. San Andreas - didn’t care for it, got bored with it and sold it before ever finishing it.

Overall Best: GTA San Andreas

Love the story: GTA IV

Overall Worst: GTA V

I never liked GTA V all that much tbh. Loved the map but found the missions to be really boring as fu

I came to this series late and only played some of the pre-IV games (Vice City and SA).

favorite (and honestly the only one I really enjoyed): GTA V

I enjoyed GTA IV for a while but didn't end up finishing it. coming back to the older games I thought they were pretty crap and didn't enjoy them much at all. they didn't age well, might have felt differently if i played them when they came out.

I like GTA4 and Vice City better than the others. I didn't think GTAV was all that great.

Liked Vice City the most cause of the setting, music, ect..

glad i'm not the only one with good taste, I think if I ranked the ones i've played it would look exactly like this (though I didn't enjoy Vice City that much its probably because i only played it many years after it came out)

agreed. san andreas is the quintessential gaming jack of all trades master of none.

the first part of it is brilliant tbf. very vice city-esque. several hours in i thought it was going to surpass the godly vc. it nails the 90s gangsta rap theme in the same way vc nailed the 80s miami theme.

then there's the twist, your brother goes to jail, and suddenly it goes from menace 2 society to the whacky adventures of carl johnson. i dislike it all the more because it teased me with what it could've been then cruelly snatched it away

Gotta say as well, Samuel L Jackson was really fucking distracting. Vice City used Ray Liotta, but I wasn't consciously thinking of him while playing it. By comparison Jackson stands out like a sore thumb.

Why are you judging them by today's standards?

I think the series have always improved, so my favourite is GTA5 (singleplayer, i couldn't care less for the online).

My least favourite was probably GTA London or GTA2.

Favs are Vice City, Chinatown Wars, and 5.

Least fav has to be 4

The the only GTA I played is number 5. I'm fairly new to Rockstar and GTA. Looks like most of players are either old from a long by-gone era or younger people that like playing retro games.

From what I played.

Favorite: GTA 3.

Worst: GTA IV.

If you could alter your character's look by eating or working out in GTA V it would top San Andreas for me. Not to say that GTA IV is a horrible game, but for me, it just doesn't hold up to the other games.

Believe the hate for VI is because of anti-Russian, better than V, it's story was shite. SA is the best, deserves a modernisation.

My favourite GTA is still San Andreas (followed by Vice City).

My least favourite (from the ones I've played) is GTA IV. Just couldn't get into it.

Played 3 never finished it, played Vice City never finished it, played 4 and did finish it and made me decide to never buy a R* game ever again.

Im actually surprised that you dont like GTA. its exact your time of game my friend. open world with cars. lot of cars.

The cars drive like shit, the gunplay is average at best, the world is almost lifeless with not much to do. And while i'm not a graphics man I will say that 4 looked like dogshit smeared on a cars windscreen lol.

Finally this is where we can both agree with each other. everything about GTA is crap from driving to gunplay.

Boring uninspired games, zero innovation, same old same old, uninteresting story. At least GTA 4 had grounded design, realistic driving mechanics and likable characters.

Best GTA was 4, realistic driving mechanics, Niko Bellic a likable character??? damn that's a hell of a drug you're taking there bud.

I'm really surprise Cloud likes GTAIV more so then San Andreas & GTAV combine. I couldn't give two shits about Niko and for a Russian guy, he wasn't that interesting to say the least.

GTA V and SA are my favorite of the series. The top down ones are kind of unplayable to me, so I like those the least. This series was reborn with 3.

If I was comparing them of when I most enjoyed them for their time period, it would have to be GTA SA which hasn't aged well now but then GTA V. I did not like GTAIV near as much.
