Well , i can say i'm shocked.

Most of the list is nothing but COD , so why even bother if they just want COD?

Just tell Activision to make a collection like Prototype so the list will have games we want , like Blue Dragon.

I presume he means adding one game at a time. Xbox 360 gives you instant access to all games.

Yeah I saw that earlier ...oh well. With cross platform multiplayer XboxOne-360, it is a little more than just simply doing a remaster, so it would be great for COD fans but I don't think Activision will be fond of lost revenue from future remasters.....will be interesting to see what happens here.

@APiranhaAteMyVa: Ah, yeah i get that. But I dont think they are actually adding only one game at time. This is just to gauge demand. Plus there are the benefits that come with playing them on the x1.

LOL do you think anyone has to tell Activision this? I bet they have a person keeping track of that list gauging interest and are already underway at making these $50 collections. Activision is the last publisher I imagine letting games go BC. There is very little money in it for them.

Why let them bring the games over when they can milk them with collection and remasters?

@Ant_17: Valid point. Seeing as how MS allowed EA access on the X1 I am hoping that having Mass Effect already on the BC list is a sign that they will play ball in good faith but it is EA after all. Leaving it up to publishers is a way of finding out who is "for gamers" so to speak. We'll have to wait and see.

So there was no point in the MCC by this statement , but sure.

After playing some Mass Effect on the X1, I decided to give up on the BC until it's in its completed state. Playing ME and it coming to a complete stop during some combat sequences due to the frame rate is just no good for me.

I imagine we'll see a CoD MW Collection with MW, MW2, and MW3 and a CoD Treyarch collection with WaW, BO1 and BO2. I don't see these getting BC due to the greed of Activision. They'd rather sell it again, not give it for free to previous owners. They want double dipping action.

I understand MS is making the previous Halo games available with BC, but they play better on the 360 anyways. At least Halo 3 online coop does. MCC is still not the most stable game unfortunately.

@Ant_17: Hell yeah there was. Being able to play Halo 2 campaign and multiplayer, including the updates they made. Also the first Halo multiplayer for the first time on Xbox live. Also having all the Halo's multiplayers and campaigns all in one package. It is great.

@primorandomguy: chill out big boy, voting on which old title you want is no one's idea of simple backwards compatibility.

All they had to do is release Halo 2 HD for $20 in the store and give you BC.

Don't see the point in a collection on a console with BC.

@primorandomguy: it is great they brought it, voting on what title to bring is unnecessarily convoluted though. It's basically one step above the Vita's selective BC where Sony doesn't even care anymore.

@Ant_17: They didn't even think BC was coming to Xbox One when the MCC was Being developed. And there are some people who didn't own Halo 3 or 4 on the 360.

So, while people were hyping this feature to the moon right after E3, it's going to be harpooned by the PS4 when rubber meets the road. Ainters gonna ain't. Enjoy your yearlies that no publisher planned on seeing a red penny out of after Gen7, anyway.

@Blabadon: It's still up to the publishers, just because a title is number one requested doesn't necessarily mean it's coming, and vice versa. I really don't get the most requested aspect either. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i don't think it'll make a difference.

MS will splash some coin to pull publishers off the fence. That's the reason. They more or less have to, since they are competing with a streaming service that can actually generate revenue rather than feelgoods.

@Shewgenja: That's an assumption. And keep in mind BC for the one is free. PSnow is a streaming service that costs money.

If you think about it , it's bad for the publisher , because if they allow it then they loose money on all those potential suckers buying the remaster or collection.

I hate to say it, and I still think it's a shit argument, but from the argument lems had last gen being the only ones paying to play online. "You get what you pay for"

You have to understand that Shew flips from championing the gamer one day to championing the 'suits' the next.

Looks like today its the suits. Who cares if MS has spent time and effort on a feature thats been requested over and over by the fans - it makes no profit for the publishers therefore its bad.

You want to know what would have made PSNow inferior?

If the XBone was a product on message for core gamers at a competitive price point at launch not constrained by terribad PR over destructive DRM practices. If MS simply traded places with Sony from the hardware design department and was enjoying a massive lead in marketshare.

Why do I bring up these things? Because, that means MS could have come up on stage and just said "Ladies, Gentlemen, and Caitlyn Jenners, the XBox One is backwards compatible." and ended the statement right there. Instead, they have an awesome feature but on a machine that is dangling from the publishers nuts by a thread. So, they have to make concessions that don't serve you worth a **** to keep the fat cast like EA, Square-Enix, and Ubisoft happy little remaster churning factories.

THAT is the Shewgenja perspective on this, and so far it has been pretty dead on accurate. As it stands, it looks like PSNow will have more games to play on PS4. Considering the PS3 did not enjoy anything resembling a market advantage, that means at some point there is a large swath of PS4 owners who are willing to shell out a little money to play PS3 games they missed out on. That's not the definition of inferior. Free or no free.

The only reason why Lems and MS are even talking about this feature (because, let's face it, when you see the final list of supported games you are not going to be celebrating it. You'll be too busy talking about Halo or something at that point) at ALL is because it is a much better sticking point at E3 than the fact you are already being pimped on a pair of barely functional AR goggles all while being given smoke bombs on the subjects of The Cloud and DX11.

To be clear.

Backwards Compatibility wasn't a killer app when the PS3 had it.

BC wasn't a killer app when PS4 started doing it WITH THE CLOUD.

BC won't be a killer app on the XBone.

It's only purpose is to pay lip service for the table scraps publishers won't double-dip on like yearlies so that MS can give you something other than an empty 2015 and empty promises to talk about at E3. You might not like the truth but it doesn't mean it ain't the truth. To their credit, though, it worked. The system warrior is just a faster stronger idiot. Streaming from PS Now for a fee isn't really backwards compatibility

Having hardware that can do backwards compatibility but waiting for the greenlight from a publisher weighing rather or not they can remaster a title for maximum wallet-reckage isn't exactly backwards compatibility either.
