Even though Nintendo as a publisher was a pioneer of console FPS's, first with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, and then with the Metroid Prime trilogy of games (please don't let this thread degenerate into a 'Metroid Prime isn't an FPS' discussion), they themselves have never actually quite made an FPS.
With many top Nintendo execs, including Miyamoto, expressing interest in the idea, and with Nintendo shooters, including this year's Kid Icarus: Uprising, having generally seen great success, the idea isn't completely alien.
So, my question to you all is, would you like to see a core Nintendo team develop an FPS?

Geist was a pretty good FPS by Nintendo. Perhaps something similar wouldn't be bad or a sequel altogether.
The Conduit was a Wii exclusive; does that count?
High Voltage Software developed The Conduit. SEGA published it.Nah. I think it would be average at best. Nobody at Nintendo simply has the experience to compete with western giants in this genre.
Even Yu Suzuki underwhelmed everyone when he tried FPS, Nintend wouldn't be any different.

What about GoldenEye and Perfect Dark ?
The same team members that once worked under Nintendo also did TimeSplitters.
If you are talking about a BF3 killer no just no. It has to have stylized graphics and arcady gameplay. Imagine TS4 made today. Smaller maps, cartoony graphics, lots of parody with characters like monkeys/mad scientists/zombies/italian mobsters, insane weapons. Do not look at typical western output with cliche voice acting, realistic environments/weapons, real life soldiers; those are boring games.

What about GoldenEye and Perfect Dark ?
You realize those were done by a UK developer, right?Western made. The TC specified Nintendo making it, not just publishing it. He wants a japanese-made Nintendo FPS.What about GoldenEye and Perfect Dark ?

We can't comment on that then since there is no track record to go by.
Nintendo EAD aka "core Nintendo team" has never really made a first person perspective game period.

Yes I think that goes for most of us. However after many years the competing developers are slowly but surely starting to create nintendo-esque games. Mostly Mario Kart competitors. So, Nintendo can't just crawl into an ever shrinking corner. They will have to keep innovating, but maybe this is also an opportunity to try and be good at more variations of games.Eh, IDK. I usually go to Nintendo games to get away from everything else.

First person adventure like the Prime games? Sure.
I really dont care to see anyone make a fps at this point. So sick of em and the last thing we need is for Nintendo on that bandwagon.
Unless the game really sets itself apart like the Prime series, or Oddworld Strangers Wrath I could go without fps for the rest of my days.
Prime were adventure games?[QUOTE="Wiimotefan"]

Please man, I don't care for a semantics battle. You know exactly what I'm saying.
No, its not even close to being a traditional adventure game. Happy? But its hardly your standard fps experience either. Guess I'll say first person action adventure. Cool?
Cool because first person action adventure is exactly what it is, which is a completely different genre from adventure. Metroid Prime plays a lot more like FPS than adventure game, so you either squeeze it into FPS or just call it for what it really is -action-adventure. The second option makes much more sense.Guess I'll say first person action adventure. Cool?

i think japanese devs can make a good fps just as good as a western dev doing it. shinji as made vanquish(would count re4 to but i dont want to start a battle now) and last time I check people love that game and saying it was the best tps(well maybe before max payne 3 came out) this gen.we also got shadows of the damned and binary domain and those are suppose to be pretty good.so i dont see why cant a japnese dev cant do a fps.
Goldeneye was amazing, Nintendo allowing the James Bond license and Rare to slip through was a poor move. Now we have Rare slowly dying in creative ventures while the Bond license stagnates under Activision (though they have made good efforts, but EA's Bond games were much better, especially Everything or Nothing).
Nintendo letting Rare go was stupid, although from what I understand, they initially tried very hard to retain the team, and then when the core talent had left Rare, they decided to let them go, because they figured that they wouldn't be worth the cost of keeping around.Goldeneye was amazing, Nintendo allowing the James Bond license and Rare to slip through was a poor move. Rare imploded just before they sold them to MS for an insane amount of money. It was probably the best decision Nintendo ever made.
No way. We don't want another first person shooter. There're just too many of them out there already. They all play the same anyway. Unless Nintendo do something entirely different with the genre, I'm all for it. But if they just give us a new paint with the same crappy gameplay like all the other first person shooters out there, then no.

Yes, they should make one in the same vein as a Conker but using Mario or one of their other many characters. :D

Like that's new to any other fanbases.
Yeah, and I want them to call it Mario Galaxy 3. Mario can be like a mushroom kingdom space marine and have the cliched solid snake attitude.
He can have his music played in a slow orchestral minor.

Ive said it before, nintendo makes simple N64 3D games with gamecube quality graphics. They are stuck in the past and never put any money or effort into their games. Let me know when nintendo actually makes a big budget game and not something that couldve been done on the N64.stuff238Super Mario Galaxy is something that can be done on N64?
No. A nintendo made FPS would suck. Nintendo has yet to prove it can make any game with good enemy AI. All nintendo games feature enemies who stand still waiting to be killed or enemies who walk back and forth. A current FPS has smart enemies that take cover, flank you, shoot back at you and use strategy to kill you. Nintendo doesnt know how to program games with that much AI interaction or animations. Even the mighty metroid prime had some of the dumbest AI ive even seen in a game. The bosses were horrible too because they followed to N64 standards of hit this boss here, wait, do it again 3 more times until he dies bs.
