In regards to the sales of the Wii U. Will it be enough to get people excited for the Wii U, or is the damage already done?

@Desmonic: My post didn't need clarification. The Wii U is not a next gen console and not worth that money figure. I'd get one for the likes of X but I'm not spending that on it. Over priced and under powered. That should be Nintendo's slogan.

@KBFloYd: Still too much. You have to remember I already have two last gen consoles and a pc, all of which do multiplats better because of the support they receive so I'd be buying one for a tiny window of games. As in, one.
$199 with a decent game and it will sell. I've been saying that for a while now. That's the sweet spot.
@Desmonic: The PS3 and X360 cost $200....and have very similar performances, and tons more games, and are getting better support still. What makes you think the Wii U is actually worth more than them? Really? The stupid gamepad which hasn't been used well?

Agreed. The PS3 plays blurays, has tons of great games that can be had for less than $10 used, and has as good or better graphics. I've never seen anything on the Wii U that looks as good as The Last of Us.
@emgesp: Mario Kart is going to make a big impact. Not the kind the console needs, but if there's any game that needs to come out, it's Mario Kart. A price drop simply isn't happening. They were losing money selling the console at 350$ and they're losing even more at 300$. Dropping to 250 can't happen right now.
But I think Wii U sales are going to see a big jump in May. I think we'll probably see 300,000 consoles sold -- sad that's a big jump -- and the game will easily sell over a million.
As far as the other half of your post, I don't think the Wii U is going to be saved sales-wise, but I've been saying it for awhile, that's a good thing for people supporting the console. Nintendo loves to not try when they're on top. The longer Nintendo struggles, the more games I get to play on my Wii U.
@Desmonic: You're quoting the age to me like it matters. We're talking about the price of the wii u. One of the reasons I think it's trash is it doesn't outperform that 8 year old hardware. Which is unforgivable. And considering the package you get with one of those and the struggle Nintendo is having with wii u support justify it being more money. I'm serious. Don't quote the age, the tech is a similar standard. Justify why it should cost more. You don't get an online, you don't get third party, the mass of existing titles, so much as a DVD player let alone a blu ray, you get a paltry memory storage. Justify it!

He can't. If it wasn't overpriced in the mind of the consumer then it would be selling. That's just basic economics. It's sold like crap because most consumers think it's priced higher than what it's worth.
@Desmonic: we're having a perfectly reasonable discussion and you pull that out, just to dodge the question you obviously can't answer.
Yeah, Id probably pick that up. At least, it would be hard to resist.
Rainbow Road
$250???
how is that a deal at all?
Seems very over priced.
I'll give $75 for that bundle, thats about as far i'll go
Make it 200$ for a deluxe system with Mario Kart and it will
was thinking same thing. $199 is where they need to get WiiU. The average consumer has caught on to the fact that it is some what lagging behind the other two in tech
A Mario Kart bundle would help, but nothing is going to make Wii Us fly off the shelf at this point... unless they start pricing it at $150 which isn't happening.
