Personally, I'll say Mario Kart 64's 6.4. Absolutely horrible.

http://uk.gamespot.com/n64/driving/mariokart64/review.html

"Even with all its bells and whistles, Mario Kart 64 is very likely to disappoint you after about a week."

I can still play the crap out of that game today with the right people. That review alone makes me question GS's reliability. Mario Kart 64 is a game that represents pure gaming fun for me - the peak of gaming. It's easily one of my favourite of all time.

What's yours?

The Legend of Dragoon on PS1 is a game that I loved and GS gave a low score. One of my favorites of all time, but I wouldn't say it's their worst review ever though.

Oblivion

Just a quick glance at the review gives :-

"Oblivion is hands-down better "(that morrowind)

" There's a compelling main quest for you to follow"

" you could play it like a pure action game, or like a stealth game, or like an adventure game, and it'd still be at least as good as, if not better than, games that are specialized in these regards."

"the quality of the voice acting and the writing is generally excellent."

"Almost every character in every town is unique"

"the main quest in Oblivion features a solid good-versus-evil storyline "

"You can actually role-play in this game, something that the vast majority of role-playing games have stopped offering in recent years".

"From the quality of the story and character interaction to the pure thrill of the combat to all the pleasure to be found in the game's little details"

"Impressive artificial intelligence and hundreds of believable characters"

Lost Odyssey, which got a 7.5 but was a superb game. And I remember the first smash bros. got a low score, even though it was one of my favourite games of its time.

I don't agree with 70% of Gamespot reviews. Haha.

The one that grinds my gears the most is how Twilight Princess recieved a 8.8 on the Wii and 8.9 for the Gamecube. They didn't even say why it was better on the Gamecube, but it clearly was not.

Have you noticed that reviewers all have similar patterns? I mean, PD:Z was rated AAA by a ton of critics. You'd think they'd have actually played the game in-depth before writing a review....

yeah you'd think that, but they obviously didnt. at least it sort of shows with the game only being at 81% on both metacritic and GR.

both games deserved that score. Uncharted was short as hell and had little replay value. and DMC4 was a step down from DMC3

I liked Oblivion better but that is just because the combat wasn't dice rolls if they could have the Roleplay and everything else like morrowind but the non-crappy combat like oblivion well then its good to go

Speaking of Morrowind, would you guys recommend it to me? It's insane that I'm a PC gamer but have yet to play the title =/. I enjoyed Oblivion, but a few friends of mine keep claiming that Morrowind is so much better, aside from combat. What do you guys think?

Agreed also when they originally reviewed it they docked points for it being too hard, and it lacked Mii support but they changed it after that was posted because RPGs don't need Mii Support.

Actually they said later on that the Wii version was better they just gave the GCN version a higher score since the GCN versions Graphics were great for the GCN's Hardware. While Twilight Princess' graphics still looked good on the Wii but the Wii is capable of better graphics.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. When they gave it a 7.5 and the reasoning behind it, I lost all respect for GS's reviews and haven't looked at or read one in well over a year.

"Once you know exactly what to do and skip as much plot as possible, you can run through the game in three hours or less." Ohhhh Jeff.

Nike_Air

I'll agree with this. The way Jeff explained it almost felt like he was describing a speed run, where you skip as much as needed for speed purposes, including major parts of the game...which story would be in a game like Metal Gear Solid.I mean,it's not like I would say in a review of say...Twilight Princess,"Once you know what to do,and skip as many dungeons as possible, you can beat the game in less than five hours." Granted, both games are completely different, but the idea is the same. That's my main criticism about that review.
