Wii U vs Vita: Which one is a dumber name?

Seriously, looks like stupid names for consoles and game systems are in these days. Barely half a day after Sony announced that its handheld would be called the Playstation Vita of all things, Nintendo decided to one up them by announcing that their eagerly awaited next console will be called... Wii U. No seriously, what kind of a name is that?

The WiiU is more ridiculously but i have gotten used to both names after any initial aversion i had to the new names wore off.

Well I think I understand why the name Wii U exists given Nintendo's E3 conference was all about making the Wii for YOU, so they could try to regain some lost fans, or something :P

I have no idea why the PSP2 is named the PS Vita, so I'd vote that.

No problem with PSV. "psp"..."psv"...that actually has a nice ring to it imo. WiiU I'm unsure about, and wouldn't doubt if it changes. Don't care really, though---thought "xbox" was pretty lame back in the day.

Will U at least has some meaning behind it and builds on the previous console. PS Vita is just dumb. I think it would have been better to use a Japanese symbol than some Italian word. I like PSV just fine even though the V seems like a Romain numeral. Anywhoo, does not change the fact that i will be getting the PSV before the WU.

Proberbly Wii U, because it would be better if it was called "Wii 2" or "Wii HD".

Wii U is okay, kinda confusing when thinking of a new console I'm used to seeing a number to designate a new model. PS2 to PS3, Xbox to Xbox360, Wii to Wii U makes me think its an add on like sega cd or something. Even though I'm interested in picking up the PS Vita imo its the dumber name I dont know why i just dont like it, doesn't seem to roll off the tongue like PSP. Most of the time I just call it the PSV.

I can't decide, they're both REALLY dumb.

Wii U sounds retarded. When you speak more than one language it becomes even weirder and odd. For example I speak french and I was trying to explain what the Wii-U was to some french people and it's even worse when prouncing it in french "le wii-u"... just sounds bad.

these are names that i would have used for parodies if they hadnt already been used as actual names.

Here's my opinion:
PSP Vita: Would fit if the console turned white, it feels kinda weird when it's black. It means life right? So you imagine something bright, some white light or something.

Wii U: Wii is a decent name actually, I've grown to like it... But Wii U just sounds ridiculous.

PS Vita is pretentious, Wii U is just dumb. They're both horrible, and I don't even feel like endorsing one over the other because it might make it look like I'm actually supporting either name.

Vita just sounds stupid but Wii U trumps that by 100 times.

Wii U by a long shot. I guess I am one of the few that like the name "Vita".

They said that sorta, but then they said U is whatever you make it. U could mean unique, *other U words here*, or even....Utopian. I facepalmed. I thought they would get rid of the name Wii in favor of something more retro that attracts the core gamer. Never the less, they stuck with the friggin Wii.
