The obvious solution is to get a CORDED controller. Wireless and having to charge is for the birds. It is something companies tell us we have to have. For the little convenience it offers it is also a pain when they start to die.

I have never cared about the 360 controller using AA batteries. If I wanted a rechargeable battery I would have bought it. I think it's worse to be forced into a rechargeable, non-removable battery like you are with DS3/4. If your battery dies you need to buy a new controller.

A. it's an obvious grab for residual revenue (a peripheral for a peripheral device?)

B. it's not a next-gen concept at all.  Even WiiU's tablet is rechargeable.  PS3s controller is rechargeable let alone the PS4s

C. It's not environmentally concsious.

the fact is some people care and some people dont. Sony fans are running out of new things to say to put down the console so even the small things become the most egregious. In reality it has its pros and cons but to be honest the cons do out way the pros and at the end of the day its just a small issue.

I love it. instead of the built in battery pack that dies like the PS3 one's where the batteries get old and you get a 2 minute charge out of them lol and the controller has to be replaced. with the X1 i have an option of AA batteries, rechargeable AA batteries which are made by lots of brands, or the Xbox battery pack that can be replaced after it dies w/o replacing the controller. personally the fact cows like a removable hard drive, but not a removable battery is beyond stupid.

Not sure why wired is an issue for people. I mean maybe if it was dreamcast controller with the wire coming out of the bottom. That would affect game play. But on the 360 controller you don't notice it at all and never have to worry about charging.

Yet you don't need to replace the controller if the battery dies. A replacement battery costs less than $5 and comes with an additional mini to USB cable even. You are late to the party, level 4. This has been covered in all the other battery threads.

The only reason wired is an issue for people is because the PS3 doesn't offer a wired option. They just offer $60 wireless controllers while true gamers want $25 dollar wired controllers.

Its for the same reason they spend $300 on wireless TB's even though the headphones are shit. 100% wireless is the absolute most important feature of gaming.

Well it's annoying and it comes across as cheap, but it's pretty much just cows here making it a bigger deal than it is.

The new controller looks pretty damn awesome, the use of AA batteries isn't going to be a dealbreaker for anyone.

Well The One's controller is both wireless and wired. The only question remaining is if there will be a cash grab like you can't recharge while wired, you need a special charger sold separatedly. Once that is cleared I don't think there will be any more problems.

Well I have a similar arguement with most on the official playstation boards about the Pulse Wireless Headset. This thing is gimmicky and very over priced and you can get 10 times better performance from a $50 wired headset. The answer is the same almost every time. Must be wireless and Pulse offers that. Meanwhile they just spent $150 for $20 speakers.
