Why in the blue moon is SquareEnix not remaking FF7

FF7 was not my favorite of the series, FF6 was the best in the series, and imo the best game (along side zelda) as the best games ever created.

That being said, FF7 is absolutely HUGE, the money they made off it was in the high millions, it has a huge fanbase, so It makes no sense why they don't remake it.

Square Enix has not made the best games recently, they have been losing money, and need a huge boost. Why not give the biggest boost you can do, and row in dough with a FF7 remake.

Makes no sense 2 me.

since we saw the tech demo in E3 2005, fans of the series have been begging for a remake, but I guess now people are tired from begging and they've been asking for final fantasy vs xiii's release date. And none of those games are confirmed, I personally lost hope if we're ever going to see it before the next-gen starts

I'm one of the people who wish people would stop pestering Square Enix about a remake (just let it go all ready), but I don't buy this excuse. We're still talking about an old game with small areas that, like most FFs, is pretty simple in its overall design. If they refrained from trying to remake the game with FFXIII graphics and just stuck with proficient but somewhat modest graphics and let the art design do the talking, they could easily remake the game at a reasonable cost.

It just seems to me that they want to make the game with super graphics or not at all.

I like their "it would take too long" excuse, because it's true. For Square Enix at least. Final Fantasy Versus 13 began in 2003 (If I've heard correctly; that means conceptual design etc, not just programming). No game should take 8+ years in development.

I don't have a clue why they haven't already done it, they would certainly make a fortune from a remake :?. Whatever the reason Im grateful because I don't think classics need to be remade, Im actually getting sick of Nintendo rehashing the same games now (as in direct ports with gimmicks added like 3D :P).

I would rather have them focus on Final Fantasy Versus 13 over having Final Fantasy 7 and add 4 more years of development to Versus and 8 more years for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Because making games in general doesn't cost money to them apparently lol. They'd rather take the easy way out.

But hey its good they don't. You though Remakes were bad now imagine after the success of FFVII-2 how bad they'd be. They'd just remake everything and we'd never get a new expereince. But then is that even worse then the crap they are now?

We also have to accept we won't see games as large and expansive as PS1 era FF from Japanese devs (Xenoblade is the exception).

If they make it a 360, PS3, PSV and WiiU multiplat, i think they could hit the 10 mil+ mark.

It would cost them more to make it now then it would then and chances are less people will buy it this time around. Because of the way the game is designed, most other FF games would be cheaper to remake in HD.

Really, the window to remake the game ended last gen.

How many copies of FFVII were sold x current game prcing.

Vs.

The amount of time and money spent recreating every single asset used in the original in 3D. Remaking Midgar alone would take the amount of effort put into the entirety of most games, if not more. And then there's the rest of the game...

i rather see a FFIX remake on 360/ps3/wiiu or an HD port to PSVIta
