Who's your favorite dev? And why?

My favorite is Kojima. He invented the stealth-action genre single-handidly, wrote the most awesome story in a game ever and created the most awesome game character ever: Solid Snake.

What I like mostly is the total control you have over Snake, wich is totally unique. Snake can Run, walk slow, stalk, duck, jump forward, shoot while standing up, crouching and lying down and you can crawl fast, slow and stalk, hang from rails, drop from rails, lean against walls, knock on walls, hide in cardboard boxes, choke enemies, break their neck, slit their throat, interrogate them, stun them, knock them out, put them to sleep, and not to mention the CQC moves and the whole FREEZE! thing wich is awesome, and in MGS4 you can do all of the above and more like roll while you're lying down, fire and throw grenades while lying on your back, pretend to be dead, adapt to your surroundings using the octo-camo, hide in barrels and knock enemies out with em, choose a side on the battlefield and fight with them, and probably more things that are yet to be announced.

So that's why Kojima is my favorite. No other game lets you do so many things with the character. And of you throw in the graphics quality, the screwing around with enemy guards, amazing story, characters and bosses you just have to love MGS.

I voted expecting to see some balanced results and then all of the sudden I see Kojima at 100%. Only 2 votes?

Ew. MGS has anything but an "awesome" story. Reminds me of the old dimplomatic adage that states that if you can't convince with reason, baffle with nonsense.

As for my favorite one of all time, I've always been partial to Warren Spector, though maybe I'm biased because of my irrational love for the System Shock series, as well as Deus Ex.

Miyamoto, just because the games he created and shaped helped to revolutionize the industry. Mario, Link, Samus etc. are all icons of Nintendo and even sometimes gaming in general. His creativity has influenced many other series and game developers as well. His original franchises were successes (Plus, they're great), and are still around today, and that's why he's my favorite game creator.

Where is Yasumi Matsuno on that list?

The man made two games that had perfect score in Famitsu magazine.

Also Toriyama isn't game designer. He worked as character designer.

Or Will Wright. They are the two greatest game creators for me. I do like Sid Meier more. I don't want to think of how much time I spent saying 'One... More... Turn...' while playing a Civ game.

Pet peeve of mine. Kojima did not invent the stealth-action genre. Tenchu: Stealth Assassins was the first stealth game released, andwas alreadyin production before MGS was announced.Thief was also in production at the same time as MGS. So at best Kojima helped shape the genre. He didn't invent it

1.Mashiro Sakurai for the Super Smash Bros series. So goddam awesome!
2. Miyamoto comes in at close 2nd for all his gaming contribution. Mario 64 was his crowing achievment IMO.
3. Tom Fulp for creating Alien Hominid andexcellent, yet freeflash games.Scores points for being funny too.

Nice try, bucko, but GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. Sakamoto is just a JOHNNY-COME-LATELY to us OLD SCHOOL GAMERS.

The TRUE Creator of METROID deserves to be PROPERLY Respected, heck, he created HANDHELDS for NIntendo too, the man was a genius, and you don't seem to know who he is. If you want to be a NINTENDO fan, you need to look this stuff up much better, do your research.

*NOTE : Sakamoto has done well to preserve suchan old license but the creator and ideas for Metroid belong to another man.*

Considering that Thief outscored MGS with a 9.1 , and Tenchu: Stealth Assassins got 8.3 (scoring only .2 behind MGS), I wouldn't exactly call them crappy games. IMHO, both games kick MGS square in the balls.

MGS wasn't the first, nor was it the best stealth game. Was it memorable? Yes. But that doesn't mean it was first or best.
