IF you have a gen 8 console, do you still use any of your gen 7 consoles?

I still use my ps3, I've recently played through the uncharted series again and god of war 3, and i use it all the time for netflix. I would love to play some 360 games but i no longer have one.

I play my PS3 more than my PS4. I'm waiting for PS4 games to drop in price until then I'll keep playing my PS3. I can't bring myself to pay full retail for a game thats less then 15 hours of game play.

I still use my PS3 pretty much every day, mainly to watch Netflix and Youtube -- although I wasn't well over the weekend and ended up laid up in bed considering playing Vagrant Story (PS1 game). Played Prime Trilogy in December, first time the Wii had been plugged in for over a year I think (and likely the last time it ever will be).

Have my 360 hooked up through the HDMI-in port on my XOne. Use it now and again, will probably download Witcher 2 in the next couple of days and play through it since its free.

PS3 in the upstairs bedroom, use it only for netflix really. Never use the Wii anymore.

I just do it because I can really, but its nice to be able to still run and snap apps while playing 360 games. Only downfall is that i still need to switch between the XOne and 360 controller.

@polishkid99: I regularly play all my systems, which includes Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and Xbone. Used to have a 360, but we sold it last summer. I mostly play the PS3, PS4, and Wii U, though.

I sold my PS3 to make room for my PS4. There was room enough on my dresser for both of them, but I was tired of the PS3 so I sold it. I got like $60 cash for it.

Do I regret it? Not in the least.

Yup. My 360 is my go-to platform, most of my multiplats are on it. My PS3 is in my bedroom and used for BR player, a few games and that late night Netflix with my girlfriend. I already have a stand alone Panasonic Smart BR player and it's my prime Netflix player. I sometimes switch between my 360 and BR player for Netflix in my living room, though.

Wii, not for years. 360, not for about a year. PS3, not since December or so after getting PS4 the previous month. Too sluggish, too clunky, too old and too ugly.

I have a Wii U and 2DS to play newer games that can't be found on older hardware. I still have a PS3 and I don't intend to upgrade it anytime soon due to many of the games that I want to play still coming out on the system. Why upgrade to a PS4 when I can still play games like Mortal Kombat X, Battlefield: Hardline, Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pains, Dragonball: Xenoverse, Etc.

I know there are some games on the PS4 that can't be found on older hardware, but it's nothing that requires me to spend $400 on a new system. I can just play many of the newest games on the PS3 and wait until the PS4 eventally drops in price.

For me, the 2DS, Wii U, and PS3 are all I need to play the games that I want to play right now.

Of course. I see no reason to buy a PS4 at this point. Plenty of games left to play for PS3. Just got CoD: Advanced Warfare Hardened Edition for it and having a blast. Might pick up Farcry 4 sometime this year.

2015 will be the deciding factor.

Got 2 PS3, Slim and original Fat.

Just recently upgraded my PS3 slim's HDD to 1TB. And my PS3 Fat has more than enough space left in it's 500GB HDD. Old but still kicking, but rarely do I play games on it. It's in my bedroom, so nothing much other than Netflix and BR I use for it.

Yes. I do daily. The PS3 is for instance, a better media hub over the Wii U, Xbone, and PS4.

Not to mention PS+ and GwG (to a smaller degree) have me booting up the older machines as well.

I play the hell out of my 360. Still replaying classics and have plenty of games I never played on it :P

Using my gaming PC for new games like Shadow Of Mordor, Far Cry 4, Ass Creed, Alien (though I've yet to start this, I'm a pussy :P)

See no need for an Xbone or PS4 since I've the PC for multiplats, and haven't played my WiiU since the summer.

Actually, hooking up anything to the Xbone adds slight latency/lag which I noticed on twitch games like fighting games and FPS matches, there is audio limitations (audio degradation like limited/no uncompressed sound, 7.1 and beyond, some bugs on certain STB's, etc ) and the Xbone HDMI port caps the resolution of the additional machine to lower resolutions and upscales them (PC, 360, PS3, PS4, Blu-Ray player, etc). Some resolutions in fact, aren't even supported. Think of it this way, The Xbone features lag due to the fact it is running all the video thru another layer of the operating system for these games running on another OS. In fact, the HDMI port was for TV viewers, but even then they are risking a:

  1. Loss of fine picture detail commonly expected with an HD signal (you may notice the grass for instance as being more fuzzy)
  2. Significantly darker picture, like a filter or shade was over the screen
  3. Image stuttering in fast or complex motion sequences (action movies especially)

As I have done with my Xbone, you can calibrate and make adjustments to remedy some of these issues (but not all), however it should be well known by now that pass-through image quality likely will never be 100% the same as the direct-to-TV signal. That's just for TV, after my lengthy game testing, I certainly wouldn't advocate hooking my gaming systems to the Xbone...and I did so at first until I noticed within minutes the issues of the HDMI port on the Xbone. It's pretty immediate if you are used to a higher quality. With surround sound for instance, It apparently down-samples to 2.1 and then tries to split that signal back out to 5/7.x in software. I'm an AV enthusiast though and I realize many in SW are not. A lot of people may not even own a quality AVR. The point is, you should take this information accordingly and decide if you care about these limitations or not. These limitations are also documented on various trusted sites and magazines.

Here's one of many links: http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/20/5117320/microsoft-xbox-one-review

"But while the ideas are great, the execution just isn’t there. For starters, passing my TiVo through the XbOne darkened the picture and stripped the signal of its Dolby Digital audio encoding, taking away surround sound. There’s an option to transcode Dolby into DTS or PCM audio, but it didn’t seem to work for me, and Microsoft says it might cause additional video distortion with some cable boxes. If you have a home theater system, this is an immediate deal breaker; I wouldn’t let the Xbox One near your cable box until it can pass the signal unmolested."

The issue at the time was the Xbone didn't support Dolby, but only DTS/PCM. If you feed it Dolby, it attempts (and sometimes fails) to transcode it. Does audio even matter to users playing through TV speakers or a soundbar? No, probably not. To them though, they may be more concerned with the visual degradation or unneeded Xbone use. In general, the more you daisy chain, the more the degradation.

Furthermore, your Xbone now has to be turned on all the time even when it's not going to be used. That puts added stress on the machine that is unnecessary unless you honestly don't have another HDMI port, I wouldn't recommend it. My Xbone is fired up when I'm ready to play Xbone. All electronics burn out, and these new machines are an unknown commodity. You may burn out your Xbone faster than your friends who own one and don't use the Xbone to play the extra HDMI. Was the machine designed to be turned on all the time, even when you are playing games on the Xbone? That's what we are lead to believe, but ultimately you have to put your faith in Xbox engineering. I had 4 RRODs last gen, 1 E74 error. I don't have that confidence. Hell, I have had so many machines burn out across companies and worked on electronics I know these things have a limited lifespan. To me, it's not worth subtracting years from the Xbone's life for to play another device through it.

Who are you to decide how it's called?

Did it beat the 360 in the numbers of no exclusives games? And getting more remasters isn't a good thing

I do, because it's got a lot more digital classic content than my PS4. I can't play Castlevania on PS4. I also use my PS3 as my blu ray player as I'm less likely to need a disk in it. So yeah, classics and films.

And there's nothing wrong with that dude. There are tons of great games to play. Besides, 8th gen is lack-fucking-luster thus far.

To answer the OP: hell yeah I still play my 7th gen consoles. Way more than my PS4 or X1.

Guilty. I don't even own a current gen console. Playing MGS Legacy Collection on PS3, The Wolf Among Us on Xbox 360, even on PC I'm playing Fallout New Vegas, haven't bought a new released game ever since the new consoles came out.
