Wasn't the first freespace a spinoff of descent and Freespace 2 was its own game? Anyway its a godsend to the genre and may be considered the last great true space combat sim........:cry:Ocarina of Time FTW

Freespace 1 was E P I C.
I might install it again just to play through one more time. It's unquestionably good.
The descent series wasn't bad either...but I remember it giving me headaches. Too much 3D. I never did beat it.
...and yes, Freespace 1, 2, X-Wing, Wing Commander and Tie-Fighter were all I needed in my younger days. I wish the space flight sim genre could be resurrected :(
