i was actually thinking a few days ago that it might...just might...be the witcher 3.
but the more i play it the more the flaws are showing themselves. still a cracking game and a very strong contender got GOTY in my book though.
if they had just eased off on the hand holding in places and some of the nuts and bolts game mechanics were lubricated with nintendo oil...who knows?
so its still the first deus ex for me. must play that again actually. *sigh...adds to the backlog again and reinstalls it as is tradition*.
@bobrossperm: man Super Metroid is so fucking good. Game shows almost zero signs of aging.
How well it's aged compared to everything else is what determined it's greatness to me. To this day there isn't any game with controls as responsive (well, maybe Super Meat Boy). But the connected levels and the way you progress through the game with upgrades still blows my mind. Just the most satisfying game I could ever ask for and I consider it perfect. Really really love that fucking game.
Streets of Rage 2. There's no other game that I've had more fun playing by myself and with both friends and family, especially for over 20 years. It's perfect on all fronts.
The Order 1886.
I don't believe you're taking this subjective thread seriously?
On topic,
Planescape Torment
Edit: or Tie fighter
It's a stupid question. It's like asking what's your favourite song of all time? You'll give an answer then change your mind five minutes later.
I've never played The Order 1886 (and don't intend to) but if I answered it would be all based on my long experience of playing games so probably....
Planescape Torment. Loved it, but wait, Morrowind was better. Also Ultima VII was amazing for it's time, how do you choose the best? System Shock, Ultima Underworld.. even Doom 2? Final Fantasy 7 was incredible too.
This should be a top 20 at the very least. Give one answer you will almost definitely change your mind several times and quite possibly still won't get it right.
Edit: already I've forgotten Everquest and Baldur's Gate 2.
