You need to get a new account without your PC specs. If you were a PC gamer you would know that cards today can do that.

Yeah. Nvidia cards can do that easily, heck i just got back from playing mass effect 2 with 16x nvidia's ssaa. ATI cards need two gpus/cards though i think.

Why do Ati's need 2? I run most of my games 16qaa with a gtx 260, some games have to run at 4aa but its still great at 1080p

You need to sell your computer so you can afford a new sarcasm detector. Your current one seems outdated.

Yum.

Though to be fair, either the game has to be fairly low end (e.g. Prototype); or you need a beefy GPU to crank it all the way to 32x.

mw2...yes mw2, it looks amazing on the pc.dakan45

actually I agree with you. MW2 doesn't have the most technically impressive textures or other effects, but with the resolution and AA turned up the art style and attention to detail makes most of the environments look very rich. And it performs well which is a plus!

I don't have anything to back up which cards can do what but here's my personal experience.

When I had 1 GTX460, I could force it to 16xQ.

Now in SLI, I get all the way up to 32Q/64xAA.

In other words, I believe single Nvidia cards only go to 16xQ, at least 460s and below. Vid Memory may have an effect on it.

Ok, as i mentioned, I could force up to 16xQAA with a single GTX460, here's what 2 of them looks like:

Photobucket

If the game you're playing already supports AA, you choose to "improve program setting" (whatever it's called in your language) and chose the kind of AA you want. Set the AA level to whatever in game.

Photobucket

If it does'nt support AA (like every single UE3 console port), you choose "ignore program setting" and force the kind of AA you want.

Edit: Sry about the non english pics...

Editedit: And to actually answer your question, The level of AA you get is what you choose in the control panel. I suppose the point of being able to "improve" AA in a game that already supports it, is to get it higher than the game allows. World of Warcraft FX, only supports up to 8x.

Ok so enhancing an aa profile doesn't actually multiply the aa in-game? If a game is 4aa and I set nvidia control panel to 16xq enhance mode would the 'overall' aa be 16xq and completely ignore in game aa?

Now there is an option to enhance AA for the App. Which adds a higher level of Coverage Sample Antialiasing to add to that AA already used in the game. But when you set AA setings in the Nvidia control panel those are the settings that are used and the ingame settings are thrown out.

You need to have your eyes checked if you think this looks outdated.

mo0ksi

That first picture is from Clear Sky.

That second picture looks more like concept art than an actual in-game screenshot. I wish CoP looked that good.

And that third picture basically proved my point.

-

Mind you I think Call of Pripyat is great, but the one thing that holds it back is the dated X-Ray engine. It sports nice little bits here and there, but for the most part it's looking a little ugly.

I know this post is ancient...but I'm curious. If COP looks "dated" (LMFAO @ that btw), then what do you think of the console port travesties that are skyrim, and far cry 3? They look awful compared to COP.

You need to have your eyes checked if you think this looks outdated.

That first picture is from Clear Sky.

That second picture looks more like concept art than an actual in-game screenshot. I wish CoP looked that good.

And that third picture basically proved my point.

Not "dated", I meant to quote "a little ugly".

Sigh... Not a week goes by that a new user doesn't use their very first post to necro a dead thread from years ago. Make a new thread if you want to talk about it.

He can't, you need to be level 10 to start a thread. This is pretty much the next best way for a new poster to start (or restart) a topic.

@op

The thread may be 2 years old but the consoles haven't changed, so I guess it's still relevant and a lot of the games listed as graphics kings still very much are. i.e. Witcher 2, Total War, Metro, Stalker (modded)

although it does go up to 24x sampling using the edge-detect method.rpgs_shall_rule
and why would anyone go for that much in a modern game anyway? I've never had a reason to use 24x sampling+SSAA unless it's a very old game that does 500FPS...
