Most pc gamers seem to love games with outdated graphics. All the top games are way behind the graphical curve.

Hasn't the game been in early access for quite some time? You sure that 1.5 million isn't the grand total?

Also do the donators still have to pay for the game as well?

How did Wasteland 2 end up selling 3x more then Divinity when its only been out for less then a week?

Edit: This game only has 6000 players playing currently, this can't be true. I bet its 1.5 million in profit.

Pretty sure these headlines are wrong and they're counting early access sales. Leaving all those early access sales out of the announcement makes zero sense.

Cool. Might check it out myself. Never played the first one, but it looks interesting.

I still don't think it sold 1.5 million. The game hasn't been in the top sellers list for very long, and its not even at the very top currently. Not even a triple A game like the Witcher 2 managed to reach one million in a month.

Most PC Gamers love gameplay, competition and complexity.... holy moley batman graphics are not everything!? damn... if only the console peasants (Not Nintendo Nobles) realised this less trashy graphic whoring shooters games would be made! or racers with less and less content! or dumbed down RPGs! Need I point you in the direction of a Star Citizen, stella graphics, depth!

"Digital Hoarders" exist by means of cheap deals and bundles... not a full priced game. (or even £20 in this case)... but you could be right about total sales, not within 4 days. still, an impressive number for this style of game... and given its non-peasant-friendly nature "buh buh too complex".

Peak players... seems more inline with early access I agree.

Was totally impressed by 1.5 million sold, but $1.5 million in revenue is not that good. PR person should be digging a hole right about now.

Budget 6 million, they put in 2x more money than the kickstarter raised. So they haven't yet made a profit, but they will soon. I was merely talking about the misinformation of 1.5 million copies sold vs $1.5 million raised.

Too much for a game with outdated 90s mechanics and graphics.

gotta admit, I'm a little jealous of Hermits. I remember playing the 1st one waaaaaay back in the day. Fun stuff.

well just slap it onto whatever pc youve got, it might well run ^^ but the size of that game is a bit odd O.o Anyways it is a very good game, and it is interresting how they chose to change how the game felt through the halfway point. Overall though I am not sure if you would like this if you are a wasteland 1 fan, There is something about this game that feels very distinctly like a mix of FO1 and Tactics. (Best way to describe it). For some reason it does not catch the wasteland 1 vibe all that much (or it is just a really long time since I playied Wasteland1)

I spent an hour downloading it to my PC, but I have yet to launch the damn game. Was reading some of the manual and I still want to listen to the soundtrack. I created a new GoG account so I could get this game and Jane Jensen's Moebius game and they threw in like 5 free games into my library. Then when I got Wasteland 2, they also gave me the original Wasteland and Bard's Tale games. lol!!

GoG is fantastic and the perfect competition to Steam. We need GoG to stay alive so that Steam can never go fully corrupt without a fight. (For instance in case Gabe ever leaves the company.)

If you werent an idiot you would know that high end graphics bring absolutly NOTHING to the gameplay and the best selling games dont ahve the best graphics. Why spend moeny to have amazing graphics when the fanbase you aim for AKA hardcore rpg players dont care about them? The better the graphics the more scripted the gameplay is. No one wants to have the best graphics around. Funny how your avatar comes from a game that just discovered 2011 graphics.

The better the graphics are the better the graphics are. Are you saying The Witcher 3 will be more scripted than Witcher 2 since the graphics are improved? Is Star Citizen going to be scripted?

I'll probably buy it during the next Steam sale. Unfortunately, I don't have time for a RPG right now, but I did pick up the new Gauntlet, and it's definitely worth it if you were ever a fan of the series. It also seems to be being praised by users.

I see that Cranler has created yet another alt with a mute gimmick trying to pass oft stats from five years ago and a survey of less than .01% of the PC gaming population as proof of something; how unsurprisingly distorted and moronic.

Only about 100 million consolites and they have 1000s of choices too.

The 700 million part doesn't help your case. It makes those sales numbers look far worse.

This is a very niche title and was never labeled as anything different. people hyped it here on quality, not popularity or sales... but carry on grasping.

Wrong, the 700 million number speaks to the fact that because PCs gamers have diverse tastes and a library spanning decades, they're less likely to behave like next-gen consolite lemmings who purchase every single new major release for their given platform because they're already bored of the paltry, mediocre offerings of next-gen libraries.

The game was fully funded + a ton more, and I'm guessing it sold really well during early access too

It does look kind of interesting but I don't want to be stuck with a game I might dislike.

Well, in all honesty, there was 18,576 all time peak players on Steam. I don't believe GOG numbers are much better, so it's quite possible that's around 35,000 copies sold :-/

The thing is, there are many out there like myself who have every intention of buying the game when they have time to play, or once its gone on sale. Sales numbers will continue to increase over time for these reasons, and, like I mentioned, the PC marketplace is different than consoles when it comes to rates of adoption for a variety of reasons.

I still primarily attribute it to simply having more options when it comes to what to buy as well as the knowledge that it will eventually go on sale.

I chose Gauntlet over Wasteland due to my own time restrictions and a desire for something that I can pick up and put down easily.

As MBirdy88 already mentioned, it's also a niche title that's likely going to primarily appeal to an older group of players who probably played the original, but don't necessarily have the gaming time that they did when they were 13.

Some may skip it entirely, but many will likely pick it up at some point in the future.
