I guess I'm leaning towards forgettable. Just because the series was actually pretty good, but was overshadowed by all of the shooters that were out at the time. But yes, I did like Resistance. What about you, SW?

First one was one of the best shooters on either system back then, it wasn't a graphical powerhouse but it had great gunplay and controls, great setting, and cool enemies to shoot.
Second game was good but a little rough around the edges, and I haven't had a chance to play the third.
Underrated.
It was forgettable from the get-go. Glad that Insomniac is onto better things since then. Sunset Overdrive was awesome. Their latest Ratchet and Clank is very polished. The upcoming Spiderman game looks super ambitious.
I was pretty disappointed with the first Resistance game but assumed it was rushed to meet the PS3 launch deadline and I gave them the benefit of the doubt that the sequel wold be better but it just wasn't. I heard the praise of the third game but wasn't going to bother, after all the previous two games I hated got lots of praise and I just wasn't going to take the risk.
When you look at their great games they seem to do really really well with the light hearted silly / humorous games, and games with off the wall weapons. Something that didn't seem to translate well with the kind of game that it was trying to be. They also felt sloppy, unpolished, unfinished. Their crazy weapons didn't quite feel well with the more serious tone of the game.
It's probably worth considering that working on multiplayer really takes a lot of development resources. I think they probably could have done a better job just focusing on a single player experience. It probably didn't help too the system was new, online gaming on console was still in its infancy.
But, as the series went on, there were just too many more competent games worth playing that the Resistance series just became a low consideration. Better FPS games with much better SP and/or better MP. Glad though the series didn't hurt Insomniac though.
Its garbage. Played the original years after it came out... hated it. Rented the sequel and thought it was even worse (shit art style). Bad series, almost as bad as Crackdown.
Only played the first one back in early 2009. I was hungry to get any shooter on PS3, as their lineup at the time was extremely limited. I thought it was ok. I liked Killzone 2 better, and looking back it was kind of mediocre too.
The only good one was Resistance 3. By the time it came out no one cared about the franchise anymore. It's a shame though since it was one of the best single-player FPS last gen.
I didn't own a PS3 but Resistance 2 was my most played FPS of last gen. Co Op on that game was my life for like 2 years everyday. So I really enjoyed hem.
What's wrong with you?
It was the best exclusive shooter for the PS3 back then. In fact, it is still the best exclusive shooter available on the PlayStation 3 even including the PS4, though I do feel that SOCOM 4 on the PS3 was really good too, the online in S4 was DOA sadly. Resistance is by far better than Killzone.
While it couldn't compete with the likes of the other console, the Resistance franchise got better with each release, with R3 being my favorite.
I enjoyed them and they are metascored 86, 87, 83 respectively so I don't believe they are underrated. They are great games with great scores imo.
Honestly I never got into them. Thought about it but something about the world never interested me. Killzone had a more interesting universe to me so thats what i played.
I only played the first one, but liked it a lot. I think it suffered less on a lack of its own merits than it did being held up against Halo. It was less colorful, had less "cred" for reinvigorating FPS on consoles, and everything in general felt drier. Yet the mechanics were solid and I thought the dry tone and brown palette suited the setting the game was going after (actually kind of unique "Harry Turtledove: World War" type thing) - in fact I think it might have been a standout had it never been up against a more exciting series on a rival platform
I like the idea where aliens attack earth during the 20th century, but that's all I remember that stood out to me.
Underrated, not in scores cuz it got fine very good scores (R2- 9/10, R3- 8.5/10), underrated in the sense of people didnt give it a chance and half of those who played them wrote it off.
R3 is such a great game, and R2 had such fun awesome multiplayer (30 vs 30 with all those crazy weapons, 8 player coop, something we have yet to see on this gen)
I had some fun with the mp in the first one, but it was forgettable. Can't remember shit about the second one and I don't think I played the third.

Same here, I like the Resistance series. But I don't feel they are overrated, underrated or forgettable.
Those who liked it, liked it and those who don't, meh.
Resistance 2 was forgettable though. Took a few tries, but finally pushed myself through the game. I was really let down by the fact that it tried to much to be like other shooters.
I liked Resistance because it felt like its own thing.
I think 1 and 3 hold up better then 2. 2 tried too hard to be like COD for the most part, still enjoyable but 1 and 3 are better. Also always bothered me that they got rid of the tank/stalker sections and that they kinda scrapped everything 1 and 2 were building towards in 3.
The game when it was first released it was crazy mindblowing. The graphics is truly next gen back then, and the gameplay was so much fun. Its a really great throwback to a time when you need health pack to regenerate health. Crazy too look back booting up the game and see now it looks like a ps2 game lol.
It's all 3 the first game is as forgettable as a chia pet.
The second game was overrated to holy hell but was good.
And the third game is criminally underrated.
I remember being excited about the first one before it came out, but after playing it I couldn't regard it as anything but mediocre back when it was new. I also played the sequel, which I thought was even worse than the first. Now, I'd say they were overrated, forgettable and outright bad games all of them, but I haven't played the third one yet.
It's solid series. The first one had a good campaign and pretty good multiplayer with it's large 40 player battles.
Resistance 2 was weird. Campaign was really disjointed, especially the narrative, and I had no idea what was going on half the time, but it looked great and had some fun set pieces/sequences. Multiplayer was a step down as well, the increased player count (60 I believe) did nothing but turn it into a massive clusterf*ck and the abilities were completely unbalanced. 8 player co-op, however, was the shit. Spend most of my time there.
Never played Resistance 3. I hated the multiplayer beta (played almost identical to CoD) and they dropped the 8 player co-op campaign so I didn't bother. Although I've heard some good things about the campaign.
Resistance Retribution was pretty good and probably my overall favorite in the series. Campaign was fun and they had a fully fleshed out multiplayer for a handheld. The ability to play it with a Dualshock 3 was a pretty neat gimmick I wish more PSP games had.
