It was likely doomed from the start but were you looking forward to it?

Ouch, i guess was rough year for Sony pictures. Did any of their movies do good this year? Sony pictures so stupid. Or was i should say was, smart move here.
After the disaster Ratchet movie and Sony's reboot of Ghost Busters and failed recent Spider-Man franchise, Sony is hurting in that part of their business. So killing off yet another movie flop is a good move to stop and prevent even more money bleeding.

Trying too hard man.
I try my best mate.
TC gave me a fright.
Had to go check my PS4 to make sure Uncharted 4 was still on there. We're good.
Straight gold.
Hmm I wonder if Ghostbusters bombing caused the Uncharted Movie to loose funding? Well probably better anyway. Video game movies tend to suck. Plus I've already seen Nathan Drake and the Last Crusade. It was really good, but the Temple of Doom one was sort of crappy.
I honestly would have gone to see it. Uncharted 2 would have made a better movie than a game.
All the Uncharted games would be better as Movies.
I don't know why it's so hard to make a Movie Adaptation of a Video game. You'd think it be easy, but apparently it's not.

Silent Hill was great.
@GarGx1: I was. I would like to see some great characters and series make the jump. Halo, Uncharted, the Witcher no doubt, son! If they do a Deus Ex movie and I get a call about a girl close to being murdered and the subway is shut down, do not default to the Protagonist walking non chalantly through the tunnels to the next area. Kills immersion.

Silent Hill was great.
Yeah I'm not saying they're not ALL bad. I'm just saying there's some heavy stinkers out there. I loved the Warcraft Movie, but then we get garbage like Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li.

Yeah, the vast majority are monster turds. But even then a small amount of the "not great" ones are still enjoyable.

Wait, WTF? Ok, maybe the Crystal Skull can be seriously criticized, but the original 3 Indy movies Shit on most action movies, and Raiders of the Lost Ark is the action movie by which ALL action movies are measured by.
How old are you? This feels like that scene in Civil War when Spidey says "Hey guys, do you know that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back?"
they pull the plug on this popular game franchise that most likely would have made them money but green light that all female cast bullsh!t ghostbusters?
smh oh sony.

IIIINNNNNDDDDYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............ Kate Capshaw was the worst part of The Temple of Doom and was only in the movie because she was sleeping with Spielberg at the time...
But yeah, I agree. The original three Indiana Jones movies were awesome, especially 1 & 3. Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls was a dud, though. Shia LaBuff (or whatever his name is) ruined it.
Having never seen Captain America Civil War, I can't believe that line is in there....
@The_Stand_In: Watch Civil War, dude. Its a great line and is applied well.
Oh, good. I mistook the context of your post as meaning it was awkwardly said and made Spidy sound like a hipster millennial =p
Probably a good thing.
I always wondered how that would work.
Sure, the games have great stories, but a huge part of that is the tension created by actually playing certain sequences.
Just watching it takes away from what makes uncharted........uncharted.
Watching a climbing sequence isnt that same as actually playing it.
Would be some boring scenes unless they changed it substantially
Playing.

I've heard one theory from The Game Theorists, citing a film school professor (I think, I haven't seen the video in a while so don't quote me on it) that the reason why is because with a video game, YOU direct the action.

While that's true, it shouldn't excuse The Director's for making a crappy movie.
Like the good examples we put out, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, and Warcraft. What these movies essentially did was Take already Existing Characters and already Existing Lore and Backstory and put it in Movie Format.
I'm not huge in Warcraft Lore, but my friend who was very familiar with it said that the Warcraft movie was pretty spot on with it and thus the Movie didn't suck. The only thing he thought was wrong was The Half-Orc Romance and the Son and Father thing. Other then that Everything was where it should be.
Unlike say the Mario Brothers Movie where the Directors and Writers didn't look at the Source Material at all and just said THESE GUYS ARE MARIO AND LUIGI AND THERE'S DINOSAURS! Cause you know we only played the 4th game in the series and there's We remember Koopa being a Dinosaur! Let's forget everything we've played about the games and already knowing that the Mario World has Mushroom People (not a king that turned into fungus. Maybe if he was like a Frog or a Snake? Like Mario 3?) and The Princess is called PRINCESS TOADSTOOL implying she's a Princess of the Fungi Variety so Why is Princess Daisy a Dinosaur? Even Mario Land which had Daisy didn't imply she was an actual Dinosaur.
Point is, I don't think it's the fact that in Video Games we direct the Action, but it's so much that there are these Directors and Writers that don't want to go by the Source Material and create this New Bull Crap because they think this would be better for the Wide Majority. Even though Video Games are already made for the Wide Majority.
Besides WHO TAKES THIS
AND MAKES THIS????
And No, that isn't Iori in the Background....THAT'S RUGAL!

The Temple of Doom comment was sort of a joke, but it is definitely the weakest of the original 3 movies.
On a side note, yes Crystal Skull can be seriously criticized. It was pretty much a steaming pile of crap. Hell I can barely stand watching it to this day. Hell I barely consider it to be an Indiana Jones movie. Unlike Temple which has grown to be seen as more positive now than when it released. Most sane people still look at Crystal Skull as crap.

I think games are cinematic enough for a movie let alone i doubt the movie would be anything better overall that the extreme action cinematic scenes we see in games.
A movie to what UC games are all about is an overkill imho. I get the feeling it wouldnt give me the same excitement game does cinematic wise speaking.
My opinion that is.
Sony already made what are essentially 4 Uncharted movies already :P
JK aside has there ever been a movie based on a video game that was actually good? I saw R&C- meh, made me want to go play the game instead of watching what could be all the cutscenes in a game strung together for all we know.
Warcraft- Left the movie afterwards satisfied. However I didnt feel it was good enough to warrant buying or watching it again.
TC gave me a fright.

I don't believe you TC. I can still watch DowngradeCharted4 on Youtube.

What? I thought Amazing Spider-Man movies were a success for Sony or why would there be a sequel.
