Personally I'm not interested in a streaming only console.
Give me physical media everytime.
Over 50% of uk internet is still shite so good luck stadia. A lot of people will be struggling to get lag free gaming at 720p. I don't really see it competing with next gen consoles/pcs with nice resolutions and lag free gaming. What can it do that an xone x or a nice pc can't. A step back til the majority have super fast connections.
If Stadia is successful you can pretty much guarantee consoles to follow suit and at the very least have a more prominent streaming service integrated into their console OS and advertised to you every time you switch on your console. in fact, they will probably break you in first and include it in your usual subscription or give you it free for a period of time to get you invested and If that happens I fully expect console gamers of today to lap it up and invite in practically fully streamed console gaming in the near future. The question is: can any of these companies compete with Google for exclusive rights?
The PC should be fine for the most part as more game engines like Unity, UE, Godot, Lumberyard and Cocos continue to make it easier and cheaper for small dev teams to make great looking and original games while platforms like Steam make it easy to get your game published.
Thing is, console giants have already been going for this. The tech giants are just in a much better place to do so, which means that all of that market that PS Now and Gamepass are getting will soon be gobbled up by Google and Apple. Pretty horrible stuff for gaming if you ask me.
