I hope they make some changes to the series. 4 was basically 3 but worse. In 4 the people were less interesting and it had the been there done that but better feeling.

I hope there's no UI and minimap. Make the gameplay dependent on sight and feel.
Did you turn off those HUD elements in Far Cry 3 and 4 ?
I love how in FC4 you can select certain elements to be on/off. Nothing gets me out of the experience more than seeing "50 XP" in the middle of my screen every time I kill someone. So I was glad to find I can turn it off.
If it is something over the top like Blood Dragon or have Dinosaurs then I'm interested. If it's something similar to FC 3 or 4 then it's too soon, so not interested.
The industry is so scared of new ip failing they have to name them after a big successful franchise
Yes, and then they decide they need to shoehorn the mechanics into the game from the IP it's named after, so they end up with something worse than the original IP and worse than what the game would have been if it were its own thing.
What if it's From Dust 2? I loved the first game, would love to see another. Saw it mentioned on IGN the other day as a game they'd love to see a sequel to or something like that, and I totally agree. Surprised nobody mentioned this yet.
@rskueem: yeah, Shangri-la missions in Far Cry 4 were dope, I think they can make this work, surprised though it seems set to release in 4 months and this is first we heard about it

Everything can be turned off in FC4, but not in FC3. I have to use a hex editor and a hack to turn off the minimap in FC3.

It's true though, people follow IPs and not the genius that makes them, I've been saying this for years when companies like Platinum Games make awesome games but they don't sell, nevermind they were the geniuses as Capcom that came up with their best games now with their own company, when people saw Bayonetta they were like "durrr, DMC rip-off", like are you fucking kidding me(?)
still, it's not all hopeless, Titanfall seemed to do good all things considered like it being a Xbox console exclusive and not having PS ports, and the developers coming from COD and people still buy COD like nothing happened, and Destiny is doing quite well, was able to achieve a lot buy basically having the makers of Halo on their resume, maybe there's hope
You know what I noticed the most ?
I mean I love the setting and it's a pretty good trailer but...
Far Cry 4s original (!) trailer ended with "Pre order now and get preorder DLC"... and this one didn't.
Perhaps Ubisoft is learning... Or perhaps I'm just noticing a detail that Ubisoft will fix in the next trailer. It remains to be seen.

Yes I love that in FC4. I know in FC3 some elements can be turned off, but not the minimap.
So do you play Far Cry 4 with everything off ?
Far Cry Primal with no HUD... that could be interesting.
But Ubisoft games are pretty cluttered in their HUD (a lot of obj markers, lots of XP pop ups and such)... I don't want that for this game.

I was just playing some FC4..... My character dies more often because the bad guys spawn randomly, sometimes right behind out of view. But, that's fine. Plus, there are more surprises which is also fine. If I lose count of my ammo, I have to gamble I have enough left. Otherwise, it's time to tuck tail and run. That feeling of pressure and the unknown made the game much more fun.
How I play it:
How about a good game instead?
So... Far Cry?
I didn't play FC4, but FC3 deserved its praise. What a fun gem.
While I don't have interest in the game, the trailer had a Fever Ray song, so it piqued my interest.

Look at the new resident evil multiplayer game.
No problems there. The best part about Far Cry 3 was the bow hunting (both animals and humans) and the stealth/garrison eliminations.
So the "guns" will be like a rock, spears, slingshots and bows and stuff like that?
How the f*ck will this work?
Unless they pull an Asscred and there is time travel or some other shenanigan twist were you end up with guns at some point.
The same way any game works... with a goal and means to achieve it. A game doesn't have to have guns to be visceral and entertaining.
How about a good game instead?

Pretty sure I wrote "good game".
You know one that is either fun, or entertaining, or engaging, or interesting, or compelling, or satisfying, or cerebral, or pleasing, or anything remotely resembling a scenario where the people making it are within shouting distance of a lecture that might provide them a clue. A good game.

Those look just like promotional shots, very nice !!!!
It's funny how in promotional shots, the HUD is always off. Yet in game, some publishers can't force enough HUD clutter on you.
Disabeling a HUD, or elements of a HUD can definitely help immerse you in the experience. And for me in FPS, I always disable some parts of the HUD, to most of the HUD.
But sometimes a HUD is an aid for stuff you don't have in games. Like you have situational awareness in real life. But if an enemy appears behind you in a game... you won't notic that easily. So a minimap does have a purpose for me sometimes.
But it can make a game more tense and harder... I think i'll turn off more as I make progress in this game.
Here is how I play Far Cry 4:
Ammo counter also pops-up when necessary.
