I think that since Oculus was the first out of the gate, made the term VR a thing again, they want it to exceed the others in every way. Perhaps they saw some stuff in the other big contenders that did things better than their device. So this extra time could be a reaction to that or even something as simple as ways to cut costs.

Oculus was making strides and made themselves known before they were bought by FB. Maybe it is me but their presence seems to have dwindled after the buy out.

Sony not being able to run the Morph on the PS4 is kinda a serious problem and when Yoshida said it was never developed with price in mind makes me think it will be super expensive. I remember Sony playing around with VR before it became the Morpheus and the price was over $2000. No thanks.
