What?

The good thing is, after a period of inactivity, the System Wars Community is now enough active again that there are regular hype threads for all major game releases- and in many cases, there is more than one poster who wants to make a Hype Thread for the same game. It can get unfair when two posters end up putting in effort, independently, for a hype thread, and then one of them has to get locked. This thread will prevent that.

How?

It's simple, if you want to make a hype thread, you put your name here in the thread. Just say what game you want to make the Hype Thread for, and assuming you were first in line, you get to make it.

When?

When you state what game you want to make a Hype Thread for, you also put a rough date that the hype thread will be up by (unless the game in question does not yet have a release date, in which case don't worry about that). If, by that date, the hype thread is not up, you will be contacted, and given a chance to post it. If those efforts prove unsuccessful, or if you do not/cannot post a hype thread for a game by that point, the second in line for that game gets to make the hype thread, if any- if not, then it's open season again.

The Specifics:

Basically, there isn't a whole lot to keep in mind here- you just reserve a hype thread, and then it is yours to make, unless you don't, or can't, in which case the next in line gets it. That said, here are some things to keep in mind:

• You can only reserve two hype threads at a time. This is to stop some posters from monopolizing all hype threads.
• You cannot transfer your right to make a hype thread- if you reserve a thread, but then decide you don't want to make it, but you'd rather have your friend make it, well, they can't. Fair is fair, the thread goes to the next person in line.
• Assuming the game in question has a release date, you must provide a date by which the Hype Thread will be up. This is not binding in any way, and if you don't meet it, you will still be given a grace period to get the thread up- but it's done to ensure that you don't just squat on a hype thread, and then forget about it.
• Potentially, there is no limit to how many hype threads a person can make in a year, as long as it does not conflict with any of the other rules listed above.

What is a good hype thread?

Our good pal freedomfreak said it best, really. There are just two things you should look into when making a hype thread:

1. Actually have some information about the game the thread is for- a newcomer should be able to get a very good idea of what the game is just by reading your hype thread
2. Try not to make your hype thread poll based. Polls are inherently easy to manipulate. There's nothing wrong with having a poll based thread, of course- but it's preferable if you don't.

Okay Charz, scratch my name off of that SFV back up thread cause I see no one is gonna do Quantum Break hype thread and boy, we need that thread to happen and I already pre-order that sucker. So I like to do the hype thread and the game release in April 5th, 2016. The thread will be up by Monday, March 28th. Love Remedy's games, they haven't let me down and I'm not gonna let them down with QB.

I'd like to reserve the Darkest Dungeon release on the PS4 and Vita scheduled for spring 2016. I plan on having it up by early March.

Dungeon crawl games are woefully underrepresented on consoles and I don't want this game flying under the radar.

It really is but its fun at the same time idk why lol

I find making them to be fun, it's all about getting the hype, the best information, decorations, and convincing everyone why this game deserves to be purchase. I wanna do Quantum Break cause about a month ago, my Game Informer Magazine came in the mail and they cover just about what Quantum Break is, that's why I wanna do that hype thread.

AHA! No one has claimed Final Fantasy 15. Allow me to do so now.

Gotta give props to charz for making this sticky. Being able to reserve a hype allowed me to have time to set things up and spend more time creating graphics. The peace of mind knowing it won't be locked and effort going to waste give the TC time to take their time and not rush just for the sake of being first. Heads up, I'll probably be after the next new mainline Pokémon game once it's announced whether it's a new region or remake. Hope they remake Red and Blue again on 3DS...

Who ever was responsible for the SFV thread is slipping. That Unofficial SFV thread should be converted into the offical since the user responsible to it is MIA. It's absolutely too close to release not to have one up by now.

The appointed creator is slipping so rules regarding the creation of said threads (any) should be made clear as to what happens when they neglecting duties they claimed and what happens as a result or fall back.

The Under construction thread that was created for SFV was amazing but now locked. Why should it be looked for a user who claimed duties that they have neglected to follow thru on? I don't feel the idea of claiming hype creation status for specific games was well thought out and this is a result.

EDIT:

Upon inspection I see that is the same user who's link I have here is now inoperable or locked. the user whymenow only has 10 posts and when looking at his posts I saw the same material that was used in his hype thread here and the same name but now is 404 NOT found when linked.

Also going back 10 pages and seeing threads as old as 26 days and this specific thread not being in sight can a mod confirm what the situation is with that thread?
