The best ocean in real-time graphics.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
i remember hearing they kept asking Naughty Dog for help......something with the snow or plant life...
Wow the best water in any game infact it beats crysis 1 graphics wow amazing.TheGuardian03Yeah, truly mind-blowing.
 Yeah that video is just stating facts, still there are people who can't accept reality.tagyhagI accepted reality two years ago and bought me a pc, which I had best buy soop up with a better graphics card. Still using the same card now. It beats the crap out of ps3, even though it's three year old hardware.
Of Course Kill Zone 3 would be graphics king.
It's Sony's flagship FPS exclusive.
Millions of people are into the game......
Well either way, Killzone 3 sure as hell is the best looking FPS game on consoles. Jukemdrawles089No. Crysis 2 is more advanced. I agree that it performs poorer, but that's because it has better real-time effects.
Killzone looks bland. Art direction > Textures
For example, on my sig right now, the best looking game would be either TF2 or Sonic & Sega Allstars Racing.

it's a tie. killzone 3 performs better (perfect 30fps) and runs in HD, plus a better AA method. Crysis 2 has the most advanced lighting in any console game and has great effects, but is sub HD, has performance issues, a lot of bugs, and a poor AA method. textures and models are pretty much even between the two.
neither one is the CGK if that's what you're getting at, but they're in the top 5 most technically impressive console games.

I see. But honestly, I still think Kz3 looks better than Uncharted 2 or GoW3.No. Crysis 2 is more advanced. I agree that it performs poorer, but that's because it has better real-time effects.[QUOTE="Ravenchrome"]

plus uncharted 2 and gow 3 aren't that much more impressive, they're all in the same ball park.

Why Sony does not bring this amazing FPS series to PC is beyond me. I'd love to play with my KB/M.

because then sony would be losing an exclusive :P
My goodness, the things people nitpick about. How does it affect gameplay one bit that the waves in the ocean that you never touch aren't rendered in real time? What kind of complaint is that? The Elite campaign is too easy in KZ3. That's a real complaint. Waves on a 9 second loop is not. KZ3 looks awesome, especially running on old-assed hardware, deal with it.getyeryayasoutWe'd dealt with it long long ago. It's just that some people exaggerate the water render in KZ3.
speaking of scripted water, UC3 also has this but it looks more natural.
theuncharted34
NOES ITS LIEK ALL...rendered in real time and stuff! lol pc hermits mad it looks better than crysis. Look how it rises, teh lighting, teh waves, how box moves ect
Am I doin' it right?

 yeah you're doing it right.
:P
very stupid post and video imo, i want to see how often halo recycles its water effects, or zelda. probably every 2 seconds, and it still looks crap compared to killzone 3.

I know the demo itself was in real time (and looks amazing) but the ocean is scripted. but like I said, it's very detailed and looks more natural than killzone 3's ocean :)
People , click the video then post. You'll learn about internet sarcasm.TrapJakI watched the vid, its BS. Sure its scripted and has a loop. Its still rendered in real time.

of course it has to be, otherwise it'd be magic. but It's not being rendered as water and instead is just moving polygons with a texture slapped on. this can work well, or not. it looks ok in killzone 3 but other games (like UC3) do it far better.

ND said the demo was in real time check the LINK . That's kind of different though... There is a difference between rendering graphics in real time and applying physics in real time. Is it scripted? Yes. Its still rendered in real time.why do people care if it's in real time? You don't even interact with it?
I always thought it looked awesome, especially with the icebergs.
"The decision came about organically. After Uncharted 2, Jacob Minkoff (lead designer) wanted to try creating a dynamic environment that was moving while you were on it. He came up with the idea of the cruise ship. Out of that, came the necessity of water. Water is obviously immensely tricky to render realistically in video games. We spent a ton of time developing systems to make sure that the level both looked and played how we wanted it to. The boat is actually being driven by the ocean, so it will never play the same way twice. Drake reacts in real time to the sway and pitch of the boat, as well as having to deal with enemies. Then, in the hold, the level actually rotates 90 degrees in real time, the water sloshing as it does so. All of these systems alone are tricky; making them interact with each other in a realistic way was even more difficult" " Obviously, some of that demo was scripted, but the vast majority of it was player controlled. Depending on how the player chooses to play, the fight in the hold can progress completely differently. The boat will eventually flood to the point where it flips, but the player is in full control the entire time. Also, certain events were not shown in the demo that exist in the full game, so there is actually even more gameplay in the sequence than the demo let on. Players are going to get a real treat when the full game comes out"TheGuardian03
Make it randomly tilt. Revolutionary!
Still comes no where close to Crysis or Just Cause 2 PC in water. JC2 CUDA water FTW!
The water was still scripted. It's not hard to calculate/pull that off.
The water in uncharted 1 is more impressive.... but really i dont have a problem in the water in killzone 3, its not like it affects the gameplay or anything like that.
