Not trying to brag but I am what they call a hardcore Destiny player, im one of those players that can solo the 6 player raids and have went flawless in Trials of Osiris so many times i lost counting and so as a huge destiny fan i gotta say the second worst thing about Destiny is that a $500 million game dosent f**king have dedicated servers... the game has been so shitty lately because of the lag

After the terrible story which is the main complaint the LAG the second wost thing about Destiny

@finalstar2007: Well I'm glad someone was able to suffer through the level system after level 20 because it became a chore to level up at that point.

I can't understand how people are possibly so dedicated to this game. I played it hardcore for 2 weeks and then traded it in. Mind you, I didn't stick around for the expansions or any of the raids, but still. I liked what I played, especially the gameplay. I got tired of beating the same bosses over and over again real quick. There was no real story at all, and it was impossible for me to care about any items I earned because I knew that after the next mission I'd earn something better anyways.

i mean, its easier to say what the best things about destiny are because there is only two. the visuals and the gameplay. everything else surrounding that is either fucking disgusting or supremely disappointing.

Worst part of the game is how small, empty, static and generic EVERYTHING in the game feels. From npc's in the tower/the new hub whatever its called to the interactive things in the word (which are literally non existent), to the enemies variations and how small and linear each planet feels. The story was above laughable but if the world is filled with shit to do, who cares about the story *just look at mmo's around, they all have shitty stories*. In Destiny, they failed on the world, enemy variation (adding the same enemies in the different colors is what's 'new' each dlc lol), side quests that don't exist, atrocious endgame and the scale of the game. The only thing they didn't fail at is the shooting mechanics and how well it synergises with your jetpack abilities and supers. That's the only thing they've nailed but even that could be significantly improved it it had a 90 FoV and 60fps (shouldn't be that hard to achieved when the game looks and feels last gen).

Its not that bad really but with the recent DLC that came out the whole leveling system has gotta much better you can easily now hit the max level if you play with experienced players.

Honestly the only reason i still play this game is because my friends are also addicted to it heck even my co-workers play the game and we get together almost every single night lol

Bungie have recently introduced a PvP mode called Trials of Osiris, this mode is pretty cool as its like having a Tournament at home, you basically play against random teams and if you win 45 straight matches without a single loss you unlock the holy grail an entire planet that is only exclusive to the best of the best PvP players with a chest box that offers loot that also exclusive to the best of the best pvp players, its addictive but sadly its not a perfect game.

No that I mind grinding (some anyways), or I mind the coop matchmaking in strikes, but I don't like the combination, I just want to play the strikes at a nice steady pace, fighting optional enemy engagements should they pop up maybe for the extra MP or drops they might give, whatever, but the dedicated grinding people that show up in strikes, usually the level 30+ douches, the moment we all drop on location they're already summoning their vehicle and racing toward the end as fast as possible skipping every optional engagement and straight up trying to dominate the team offense single-handedly.

Last time that happened one of the guys died, I walked up to revive him then had a change of heart, I walked away and went ahead without him... haha, he so did not like that.

EDIT: In an evil genius way, I have have to respect the game. Anybody see this recent GameStop video about Destiny, quite interesting to think about. I might help explain why it's been a huge success for some, and why maybe those that say they like it also say they've been playing it since it released...

The gameplay sucks (frankly it's the number 1 reason).

People will say that's a crazy notion because the shooting mechanics are good, but those are just mechanics. Gameplay is a combination of things. The pacing, the level design, variety, the sequence you are playing, the narrative context, and all that jazz. And we've been shooting dudes in the face from the first person perspective for 2 decades now, it's not impressive when someone makes good shooting mechanics.

Anyway the gameplay sucks, because it's the same dull, boring, drudging, tedious mission over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. You go to a thing, dinklebot does dinklebot things, and then waves of enemies come at you in this dull shooting gallery. With very little in the way of variation. Other shooters have started adding stealth elements or mixing their shooting up from the sniping part, to the run n gun segment, to vehicle segments, to what have you. Destiny? Outside of one part with a sword and one part with a vehicle, it's all the same bunker down shoot waves of dudes.

Enemies are sponges that are tethered to specific points, boss fights are lazy from a design standpoint as they just take one member of a faction (usually the largest one), make him bigger, and way more spongy. So you get an encounter that isn't challenging, isn't interesting, isn't clever, but time consuming and dull compared to all those boss fights of yester year that completely clowned this amateur hour shit.

Throw in the part where the game expects you to loot grind for fun, and that's what the game calls depth and playing the game at higher level at 20? I grew up in an era when games kicked our asses until, we got good. My era was get good, bitch. And mmo/loot plebs defend this as all mmo/loot nonsense does this? Well okay newsflash if they all do this, literally exactly the same way, this isn't depth, this interactive labor. You don't get the joy of a game or shooting aliens or a challenge, you get the video game equivalent of being Kunta Kintai. You get to take the role of Alfred but without the ability to tell Batman he's being a bitch. You get to be Geoffrey, but you can't tell Uncle Phil he's fat.

Throw in that added bonus that games like Path of Exile have way larger skill trees that allow for more variation with their builds (the loot stuff is still lame but whatever), and you have a game that didn't even do the interactive slavery part right.

Oh and the PvP is a cluster **** of freebie kills and cheap power ups that provide little to no skill ceiling, and at the time it was AR+Shotgun we out here town. Never mind the socialist bullshit that was carrying your team, only for the guy who was dead last on the losing team to get a rare engram, because we're all created equal when the very nature of competition is the opposite of we're all created equal.

**** that game.

Well beyond how fucking boring the game is I guess I will say the lack of anything actually enjoyable is its biggest fault. I put 30 hours into the game and I felt like I accomplished absolutely nothing. Good job Bungie.

"they all have shitty stories" was a generalization, obviously. I mean, how many hundreds of mmo's are released? yeah, like a ton n a half. Two or three having a good/decent story out of hundreds or thousands isn't saying much lol. Shows how atrocious and unimportant the main story is in this genre.

yes but there's one bigass flaw with your statement. This game did NOT launch with content. Supporting a game with content is one thing (Borderlands/Fallout/the Souls/GTA series as a perfect example). Releasing an empty game with barely anything in it, lock half its content to then sell for $20+ under "Expansion" is a different story. Just look wtf they're offering for $20, its 2-3h worth of shallow, repetitive and uninspired content. This is NOT additional content, this is shit that was supposed to be given for free at day one, this is what the game was supposed to be and then some. Milking does not equal to additional content and "that keep those game alive and relevant long time and make people to still play"

Lack of a quality story and SP mode. If you want to make a bro op game then don't bother with a cornhole story and just focus on the other.

But not like this. This game purposefully left out chunks of story to make it seem like the DLC was something special and it just ruins the game.

I want to get back into it and give it another chance with my expectations in check. Before I quit, I found the PVP multiplayer part pretty fun, so I'll start there I guess. For me the story was just plain uninteresting and that's saying much as I don't really like Halo's story but it does the job. This game I couldn't even bother to finish.

I actually really enjoyed WoW's story and lore. The Lichking stuff was superb imo.

SWTOR and GW2 has some decent stories too.

GW2 decent story? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL oh you. SWTOR yes, its the best around when it comes to story. GW2? The story was aimed at 9 year olds playing with their mother.

Well to be fair you said none and we've named 2 (possibly 3)..

I'll name one since it's apparent nobody here plays MMOs: FFXIV. It has the best story of any MMO I've played and the story is better than the recent single-player Final Fantasy games. Guild Wars 2 has a terrible story (and even Guild Wars 2 players will tell you that); WoW's story is beyond redemption at this point.

Worst part of the game is how small, empty, static and generic EVERYTHING in the game feels. What this gentleman said.

FF14 has an amazing story.

It also helps that it is the best MMO on the market at this point.

I went with loot drop/grinding because the story is number 1 worst thing to me. The gun/gameplay is great imo. But grinding for loot and seriously rarely getting good stuff got so boring I play Titanfall more now.

I believe this man's assessment. He sure played it enough.

The fact that every fucking thing worth a dam requires a pre made group.

I don't have time for that shit...I want match making in everything....AS AN OPTION.

Not trying to brag but I am what they call a hardcore Destiny player,

If finalstar is addicted to this shit, that's a good sign to avoid it.
