The Nintendo wii game thread

This thread is basically for wii owners, and those who are curious about owning a Nintendo wii as a second console. Most would say the Wii dosen't have enough games, or games at all as a stand alone console. This thread is here to inform those who have no fate what so ever in the console, while at the same time letting those who doubts about the console.
This thread is not for people who are heir to look at graphics or bash the console, but for those who want a different experience in gaming. im going to list games, that may either intrest you, or may not. We know that the wii has original content coming for it. We even know that the wii main focus is casual gaming. What most people who bashes the wii dosent know is that the wii also has original titles in the works for it. what i put in this thread isnt the final line up of the wii, but what we know so far...

-----------------
Project Rygar:

info: New Hero, New Enemies, Swing Action
video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QZrd6VcrmB0

-----------------
Project O aka King Story:

info: it's a god-sim of sorts, with your goal to shape the world around you. you just do it one conversation at a time. the player will select one person [to perform a task], and he will go off and talk to several other people, who will then start to change the world around the player.

--------------------
Project hammer:

info: wiimote is used to control hammer swings. work in progress.
video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=MJPhDqetz1k

-----------------
Project S:
info: According to the latest Japanese magazine news, Suda51 and Kojima have announced the first bit of info concerning Project S. While many are expecting this to relate to Snatcher in some way, what we know now just confuses more. The two developers have confirmed that Project S will span a number of different media forms, but the first will be a radio drama written by Suda51 himself. Let's put this in perspective. We still don't know if Project S is related to Snatcher, it is going to be a radio drama (at least in one form), and we have no idea if a video game will ever be made as part of the project. I'll tell you, these guys walk the line between brilliance and insanity.

UPDATE - It has been confirmed that Project S indeed revolves around the Snatcher universe.

-----------------
Disaster: day of crisis

info: live out diaster in the middle of ground zero and survive to tell about it.
video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=BHaItCFGI_g
-----------------
soul calibur legend:

info: In Soulcalibur Legends, follow the 16th century exploits of Siegfried and Soulcalibur characters, new and old as they find themselves on a quest for ultimate power in order to save an empire from destruction. Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as their weapons of choice, players perform moves and combos using orchestrated slashes and movements. Sword fighting capabilities are pushed to the limit as gamers unleash special attacks to crush scores of enemies and large bosses.

---------------
Obscure 2

info:

· Adventure and action in a teen horror movie scenario

· 6 charismatic characters with unique skills

· Unique coop mode: second player can join in at any time

• Highly detailed and rich 3D environment

-----------------
Venus Redemption heads to Wii, DS

An episodic game aiming to be quite engaging while still appealing to the casual crowed, 30 something females in particular. Venus Redemption is heading to the PC, Wii and DS, and is expected to be late 2007 early 2008. Kate Pullinger, a Canadian writer who penned The Last Time I Saw Jane, and Where Does The Kissing End? will be working on the game's story, and Tim Wright (Wipeout) will be handling the music. I am pretty eager to see what happens with this game, seeing that it has no distributor or publisher at this time.

-------------------
Namco Bandai reconfirms Wii support (37 games)

Bandai Namco recently discussed their fiscal year profits, which were 71% higher than last year. During the discussion they reconfirmed their plans for the upcoming fiscal year. While Namco Bandai will release 24 360 games, and 23 PS3 games, they will be developing 37 titles for the Wii. Let's just hope that these products will be quality games instead of quick cash ins with the Wii being the hot system of the moment.

-------------------
Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars

offical site: http://callforheroes-wii.com/screenshots08pc.htm
info:
- 2 unique characters to choose from

- Each character has unique weapons, items and special abilities

- Character gains experience which will help him to upgrade his strength, armor and health

- 15 special abilities per character

- Fantasy/medieval type world divided into 15 levels

- 18 different types of monsters and 3 bosses at the end
---------------
sadness:

info: Sadness will not have any in-game menu system or HUD. Unlike pretty much every other game on the market, Nibris is attempting to amplify the horrific aspects of their game by making the world as realistic and immersive as possible. And the game is non-linear.

--------------
Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None:
info: Using the Wii's original "Wiimote" controller, gameplay in traditional PC adventure games can be taken to a whole new level of interactivity. For instance, players will have the freedom to control their character's actions, such as using a digging motion to unearth clues, or spinning the handle of a safe using the Wiimote; and the introduction of timed puzzles where, for example, players must race up a set of stairs from a boat docked below.

-------------
No More Heroes

trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIEUDtEN3iE
info: A crazy Japanese flair, unique graphics, and fast paced action...all staples of any Suda51 game. If you want a little refresher on the game. the goal is becoming more violent than manhunt, will it happen?

---------------
Space Station Tycoon

info: The game promises to let players use the motion sensing of the Wii Remote to create gravity points and interact with objects in the environment, undertaking tasks such as catching asteroids to stop them from smashing into the space station and lobbing cannonballs at space pirates. There will also be a multiplayer mode and co-op play elements.

-------------------
battalion wars 2

info:Battalion Wars 2 will feature three online multiplayer modes. In "Assault" one player simply defends a base while the other attempts to take/destroy the base in a time limit, "Skirmish" or no time limit is more for tactical depth with both players fighting each other using the most of the new features like bases to give a more thought through attack.

-------------------
Spielberg's first game will be on Wii

Today EA announced that Spielberg's first game of a three game deal will be a Wii exclusive. The other two titles may end up on another platform. EA said that Spielberg's Wii title will release sometime before the end of their fiscal year. That would put it sometime in-between now and March of 2008.

-------------------
Ferrari Challenge
"one's going to be with a steering wheel and one without. It will feel as good as any other racing game does with a controller. Of course, once you have a steering wheel, it's got a much better feel. We are looking at the option of putting an accelerator and proper steering wheel in for the Wii version, because that's one of the problems of the Nintendo controller - you either have a very loose system that's very forgiving but unrealistic, or if you have it realistic and you suddenly flinch or something it could affect the performance. We feel we've come up with a very good solution to that. We have to aim our quality towards that title to ensure that we're in a position to be comparable to GT. But racing against the clock is not the direction that I think the market is going to go in the future. It's not our philosophy to sell something just because Ferrari is the most desirable brand for a racing videogame." - Mark Cale, CEO and founder of System 3

-------------------
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

info: Besides the mansion, the police station from Resident Evil II, and the train from Resident Evil Zero have been confirmed as levels. Carlos Oliviera was confirmed as a playable character. Wesker is definitely in the game, but he was not confirmed/denied as a playable character. Resident Evil Zero, I, II, and III will all be represented. There may be levels from other games, but Code Veronica will be ignored.
trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WLtfGZWDBcI

-------------------
Nintendo developing over 120 titles for Wii, DS

As if Nintendo didn't have enough to do, they announced that they have a slew of titles in development for both the Wii and DS. Nintendo has 45 titles in the works for the Wii.

-------------------
Manhunt 2

info: kill, shoot, strangle all with the wiimote.
trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GlIb8by2k0Q

------------------
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

info: The game can be controlled using either the Wii Remote or the analog stick on the Nunchuck. The gameplay will involve the use of "persona masks". A dragon mask to allow Nights to withstand strong winds, the dolphin mask transforming it into a dolphin allowing it to swim, and the rocket mask to give it the ability to reach high speeds.

------------------
Miyamoto - Wii enhancements to draw in hardcore gamers

"Shiggy: Well, right now I still look at the Wii's sensor bar and the "pointing" technology we've developed as something that I think is going to end up being very effective for the types of games that the hardcore gamers like to play. There are also other enhancements to the Wii interface and developments being planned that are going to really make games for hardcore players a lot more fun and interesting."

------------------
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games

info: Innovative usage of the Wii and DS control systems to maneuver a favorite character will allow players to race the likes of Mario and Sonic down the 100m track, engage in exhilarating rallies in table tennis and churn water in a swimming heat, all while competing for the much sought after gold medal.

-----------------
Metroid Prime 3: Curruption

info: The graphics looked amazing -- better than Halo 2 on the Xbox without a doubt -- and the levels showed off sparkling details, proving the Wii is far more powerful than the Gamecube. Out of all the games we played, the Wii controller seemed most at home with Metroid.
video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fq2NW_CvTj0

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaro's Treasure

I cannot wait for this game. I love adventure games! It's been SOOOOOO long since there has been virtually any decent console adventure games. The last one I can even think of was Broken Sword 2 for the PS.

I would also like to note that IGN thinks this game is going to be alot of fun. Check out the hands on on this game I'm really stoked about it:

No exclusive star wars game for the Nintendo wii? maybe there is one

rumor #1

"The head of the LucasArts, the game division for "Star Wars" series creator George Lucas, told AFP a Wii game that lets players wield virtual light sabers is on the horizon."

rumor #2

"...However, LucasArts has so many things on its belt right now, including a Wii title that has yet to be named."

Great thread Rahnyc4.

The wii has some really great games coming both for the casual and hardcore.

And btw Sadness WILL come. Nibris is looking for a good publisher and I'm sure it will find one because this game sounds very promising.

I don't have a wii yet. I'm just waiting for a black version and some of these games to come.

thanks. sadness isnt the only mature game on the wii thats looking for a publisher. on matt and bozon past podcast, they talked of another developer who made a mature theme game on the wii, thats also looking for a publisher. This game is said to be on the same level as manhunt 2. theres a lot of unannounced games on the wii, that as of right now looking to be published. the wii owners have nothing to do but to wait and cross our fingers.

The games are coming.

Report: Japanese Devs Shifting Focus from PS3 to Wii

Sony's struggles with the PS3 have already been well documented, and while there may be much hope for the future of the console, at the moment Nintendo's Wii is stealing the limelight. In fact, according to a new
report in the Los Angeles Times, developers may be putting a greater focus on the Wii.

Kyoshi Shin of the International Game Developers Assn. in Japan said that a large number of game makers were shifting their focus away from the PS3 and towards the Wii. "When people talk about the PS3 on chat forums," he said, "they say it's like going to a very expensive restaurant and not getting anything to eat."

Part of the problem (besides the price) is that the PS3's sales may actually be getting cannibalized by the continued success of the PS2. "They need to give gamers a reason to put the PS2 in the closet and buy the PS3," IDC analyst Billy Pidgeon said.

That said, Pidgeon is optimistic about the PS3 and believes sales will really take off in 2008. "The PS3 is ahead of the market, while the Xbox 360 and the Wii were designed for immediate market impact," he explained.

And that's exactly how Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton sees it as well. The PS3 may have sold only 1.2 million units in the U.S. through March, compared to 2.1 million for the Wii and 5.3 million for Microsoft's Xbox 360, but Tretton remains unconcerned.

"We didn't get into PS3 for the first six months of 2007 - we're into this for the next 10 years and beyond," he said. "A million units one way or another at this point isn't going to worry us."

never forget this article, because this will reflect what we see with the games at E3 and even the Tokyo Game show

Firelore29

I hear it's quite challenging as well :). Yay for games that don't let you win!

This is pointless cuz the Wii is a fad with no support. Remember?

Good thread. Got me hyped.

Very nice work. Not as organized as kansasdude's work but still quality. You were able to inform me about some games that I did not know anything about. I thank you.

i actually had to go back in my memory banks and add games i almost forgot about. This happens when you get overwhelm with wii news, you tend to forget about other games, especially when you havent heard about them in a while.
