Amazingly enough, the PC release of an eighteen month old game has generated more hysteria on this board than any recent game in memory.

Therefore, here is a sticky.

Cursory first post- the game scored 9/10 on Gamespot, and currently has a 98 on Metacritic.

As well all know, YouTube's compression technology turns videos into a blurry mess, which makes gameplay videos uploaded to its servers worthless in regard to conveying the quality of a game's graphics. Luckily, there's GamerSyde, a gaming website that provides high-quality gameplay videos and video-game trailers; their videos have very high bit rates and are available in full 1080P.

Anyhow, the following link leads to a page on which you can select one of four gameplay videos from the PC version of GTAV; you can either stream them or download them. I'd embed the videos in this thread, but GameSpot's embedding mechanism doesn't recognize this site's video-streaming service.

Further derived from the fact that time itself is relative, and in fact a fourth spatial dimension (the demarcation between spatial and temporal dimensions being a myth and a psychological construct and nothing more). Like with all other spatial dimensions, time is also relative to one's frame of reference, which in turn depends on one's state of movement (or the lack thereof).

Of course, all of this is now pointless, because Quantum mechanics renders all classical physics, including relativity, so laughably obsolete.

My thoughts...PS4 is putting up one hell of a damn fight, and it's down right impressive, but can't achieve that buttery 60 fps. PS3, irrelevant(Looked amazing when it was new though)

Truly, the only thing really noticeable between the PS4 and PC versions seems to be the Frame rate, PS4 seems to look nearly identical to the PC version(which was expected, And keep in mind the settings are maxed). But dat 60 FPS tho.

Also i'm having an issue atm with my GTA, Traffic is glitching like hell at some intersections, it's like a vortex of cars and awesome explosions. but still, pretty annoying. i think i may be having compatibility issues. unless this issue is wide spread.

It looks like GTA5 on PS4 is equivalent to 1920x1080, 30fps, medium settings on PC.

Surprised to see the PS3 version actually looks slightly better than the PC version. Better colors and more realistic cloud movement.

A great game, one of the best selling of all time (all versions put together) and likely the only which managed to get massive hype with a port 2 years after the original release.

Likely one of those games which will make people think of you as a damn noob if you never played it.

Waiting for the Persona mods

There is no mod support which kind of sucks but a Russian has already decrypted the files and the first mod has been released. 980sli here. No framerate stutter while driving. I get min 100fps max settings in the city. Game is on Raid0 SSDs. 144fps makes zooming around the city a wonderful experience. It is everything I wished the game could be back when I played it on my Xbox 360. But I will always love San Andreas. 9/10 indeed.

Guys, I can't wait to get home from work and hit the bong with my buds at my new apartment.

Why do people keep saying it's a 2 year-old game? It's not really. This is the next-gen version with considerable differences that drastically alter how it plays and it's been released just five months after the PS4 and Xbox One got it, which is in keeping with the timeline Rockstar usually puts out a PC version of the franchise. Also, I'd never played it before so it's a brand new game to me and I'm loving it so far. Graphically it's outstanding at times.

Story of life. Those damn steam library. I may actually pick up the box version of GTA V since it seems to have nice artwork as I already have the boxed PC version of GTA IV.

On a side note props to Rockstar. Looks like they put in the time and effort to truly optimize the game for the PC and add new features. Well worth the wait!

basically PS4 is high 1080p@30fps budget peasant PC is high 1080p@60fps, looks like optimization is going very well to current gen consoles, remember when people used to say that by the end of 2014 PS4 would be running games just like a GTX780?

Not playing on PC, but Jesus Christ this game's story is uninspired. It's nowhere near the quality of GTA IV's narrative, which, despite some dissonance between gameplay and story, was well thought out and thematically cohesive. Despite a few funny/memorable moments, GTA V's story feels like R* throwing a bunch of shit at the wall with no sense of purpose. Most of the characters seem uninspired as well, as if they are just there because the game needed characters.

Luckily, GTA V is such a soaring success as a game. Almost every aspect of it is improved from GTA IV: while still a little clunky, gunplay is loads smoother, character movement feels better, driving has been made more accessible, more variety/setpieces in missions (tho I still haven't seen anything as good as Three Leaf Clover), more environmental variety, visuals are so improved that the mind boggles, the game's progression structure is a more messy but ultimately more organic, there's checkpoints, etc. The only real problem is a few really bad missions like the forklift one, the yoga one, the torture mission, and those dumb tasks they make you do to prepare for heists (like buying masks and stealing garbage trucks, etc.)

Overall, a noticeably better "game" than GTA IV, but GTA IV Is a stronger overall package IMO.

Oh gosh that's embarrassing.

Now, admittedly, I predicted PS4 and XO would be reversed roles as far as power so there's that. But yeah, I remember people saying console optimization meant you'd need a 7950 to outstrip the PS4 for the gen. 7870/270x has been crushing the PS4 so far. PS4 has trouble matching 7850, and XO can't beat 7790. TW3 will be the next big test for the neo-twins.

High settings my ass. They didn't use any good AA, the population densities were all halved, shadow quality was not high, mid level distance scaling etc.
