The best Action Adventure you've played all gen

I've been on a Batman Arkham Asylum binge lately and it's reminding me of how much I LOVE the action adventure genre. IMO Batman Arkham Asylum did EVERYTHING right with the genre including the all important exploration aspect. Top notch combat, top notch stealth,and top notch exploration.It was pure bliss for me trying to find all the riddler challenges. I also believe an open world is very important for this genre and that the Metroid formula is a perfect model for action adventures.

What do you guys think?

I still gotta say Assassin's Creed. But all games on this list are excellent.

Batman AA or GTAIV. Enjoyed both incredibly.

Gotta go with GTA 4.

I'd go with Enslaved. I really loved something about that game.

I count Twilight Princess as last gen, (and I played it on Gamecube anyway), so it's Batman: Arkham Asylum for me. Not only was this the best Batman game I had played since Batman for the Genesis, the gameplay, atmosphere, and the voices (oh, yes the voices!) were spectacular. It really felt like I was playing an episode based off from the Animated Series.

I dont know I love Twilight Princess but I give to Assassins Creed just for the fact that it did something different where Zelda was just Zelda. I put Assassins Creed up there as one of the best new series of the entire gen.

Of what I've played... Batman Arkham Asylum.

In my mind it's Resident Evil 5. But i know many people with disagree with me.

I might be wrong with my definition of the Action Adventure, but I think the adventure aspect should be present in the gameplay in order for the game to fall under that category. Something which Uncharted 2 does not allow you to do.

Twilight Princess, even though I played the Gamecube version. Zelda is and always will be the unabated king of action-adventure.

I'll just change this to El Shaddai. I just watched the Now Playing and dear lord I'm glad I have it preordered. Okami definitely has a serious competitor now.

For me it's Assassin's Creed due to the fact that the series has had three awesome action adventure games.Batmanties Assassin's Creed but I voted for Assassin's Creed. It was an amazing game that had the feeling of being Batman and the characters were all really great. The action was fun and the detective parts were creative and well done.

Uncharted 2 is typical action adventure in my opinion. What else could it be? Definitely not TPS like GeoW, Army of Two, Vanquish or Lost Planet 2.

Its actually a Tomb Raider clone in its core and Tomb Raider is textbook example of action adventure.

I would personally classify Uncharted series under Action Movie.

Out of the ones in the poll i would choose darksiders.

Batman: AA is the ultimate action adventure game.

Where the hell is Uncharted? If people on these boards are saying Uncharted is Action Adventure, not TPS. Then why not include it in the poll? It's both or what? Let's make a new poll and see if it's TPS or AA.

EDIT: By looking at the posts so far, no one barely mentioned Uncharted. So System Wars, tell me what's up. TPS or AA or both? It's both imo and that's why it rivals Geow.
