Gamespot reports.

A study commissioned by Google has found that teenagers find the Xbox brand "cooler" than they find PlayStation. That preference was switched in millennials, however, as 18-25 year olds thought Sony's gaming brand was cooler than Microsoft's.

According to the report, children aged 13-17 thought Xbox was the fourth coolest brand in the world, with PlayStation down in seventh. Top of that list was Google's own video streaming service, YouTube, with Netflix and Google's overall brand in No.2 and No.3, respectively.

Nintendo is seen to be less cool than Xbox and PlayStation among both millennial and teenagers, while EA Sports is even further behind, says the report. Additionally, VR and AR are seen as some of the coolest things in the world of technology, along with smartphones and iOS in particular.

Have you become the old man on his porch yelling for kids to get off his lawn and thinking the teenagers these days don't know what's right for them? Any teenagers in System Wars care to share your thoughts and whether you agree with the Google study?

Proof that teens are getting worse off as the years go by.

I kid, more power to them.

Makes sense since a lot of those kids probably "grew up" playing the Xbox 360. That was the most popular console in America for the longest time. It undoubtedly had an effect on the younger, even more impressionable kids.

Are people shocked by this? The first Xbox arrived in 2001, and the Xbox 360 launched in 2006, so chances are, these kids played Xbox during the 2000s when they were growing up. To them, the Xbox brand is what the Playstation is to people who grew up in the late 90's and early 2000s, and Nintendo is to people who grew up in the 80s and early 90s.

Keep in mind, the 360 was very popular, and given the early struggles of the PS3 and the Wii's focus on old people and casual demographics, the 360 was what alot of these kids played.

So, teens grew up with the Xbox and likely have a loyalty to the brand, just like 30 years old likely have more loyalty to Nintendo because of them growing up with Nintendo and their IPs.

Nintendo's main player base is likely 30 years old like me who played NES, SNES, and N64 back in the day, Sony likely shifts downward but still aims for older demographics who played PS1 and PS2, and Xbox's main demographic is likely people 20 years old or younger who grew up with the brand.

This does not shock me, but does tell me that I'm a geezer compared to most of the people playing Xbox One.....

(Copy/Paste what I said on that GS article)

This survey sounds about right on teens seeing Xbox brand as a cool thing to have. Back in my high school years, owning the first Xbox was the coolest thing on the block when Halo CE was still a thing, all the teenagers owning Xbox makes you look cool, even the Xbox 360. Teenagers were always talking about Xbox/Xbox 360 then they did for PS2/PS3 before I graduated high school. (2005)

This doesn't surprise me one bit and it makes perfect logical sense when you think about it. People tend to have more affection for what they grew up with.

People that are currently aged 13 to 17 would have started gaming when the Xbox 360 was the most popular console in America so most of them probably started gaming with the Xbox 360 and therefore have more affection for the Xbox brand. Whereas the 18 to 25 year old demographic that thinks Playstation is cooler are in the age range that would have started gaming when the PS1 and PS2 were the most popular consoles which explains why that group has more affection for the Playstation brand. And then there are people like me in their 30s that started gaming when Nintendo was the most popular brand in video games and not surprisingly I tend to find that Nintendo's biggest group of fans are people in their 30s that grew up with Nintendo.

@zassimick: Since it's a Google study i see it was done in the USA, but if it was done in Europe, Japan etc it would read Playstation. So unless this "study" was done globally then it's not really accurate, oh shit i forgot Merica is the world my bad, as you were :P

Nice clickbait title, Eddie would be proud, and he would be laughing at the same time as he gets paid for it and you don't lol.

Ouch. My pride...

The title was taken from the article itself, written by , not one that I came up with. I'm just sharing with System Wars as it seems like an artilcle that people might have an emotional response over. Seems like a number of people have had just that.

That chart isn't from MS get official data or get out hypocrite because for the PS3 you wanted to pretend that its sales stopped at 80 millions.
