Tales of Zestiria Leaked for Steam

Apparently, the latest Tales game, Tales of Zestiria, will be coming to PC some time, as a Steam registry entry was recently found for the game.

Now, before someone comes in and reminds us that there are Steam registry entries for lots of games, many of which are never released, let me point out two facts that lend credence to the game coming to the PC, and tis entry being meaningful:

a) Upon the registry entry being discovered, the name was quickly changed to ToZ (though Google managed to store a cached copy of the older version, and we have screencaps too)

b) Namco has been increasing its support of the PC a lot lately, why would they not attempt to bring their flagship franchise to the platform too?

Now, personally, I don't care for Tales much, and Zestiria is supposed to be pretty bad going by its reception in Japan, but I'm still excited- the more JRPGs and Japanese games in general we see on PC, the better.

Because that brings us closer to Persona on Steam, and then I wouldn't need any non Nintendo console at all.

PS4 is supposedly similar to PC so bring it to PS4 too PLZ!

Better question is why does PC getting a game make you so salty.

If there were really that many pirates, why does almost every non 1st party dev put their games on PC?

I'm glad Steam is getting more jrpgs, but I'd like to be able to grab some good ones aside from Trails in the Sky.

That would make me happy. I liked Vesperia quite a bit and need an excuse to pick up another one.

more JRPG games on PC is a good thing

Wouldint be surprised by this at all. Also most hate for Zestiria in japan is cause some really stupid dlc and marketing decisions were made. Thus everyone is pissed. Though I did see one complaint combat wise which was the camra in certain areas gets pretty bad.So heres hoping they handle it better whenever it comes over.

Tales series is one of the few things I prefer playing with a controller, but would probably get this on PC and hook up a DS3/DS4. That said, its not like Tales games have great graphics or anything, so the PC probably won't actually have much advantage.

I suppose it's better to buy Incarnate Points for nothing than to have ROI decide the fate of Tales games on Steam.

Apparently the game really really sucks, but still nice the PC is getting a JRPG.

This is awesome news if true, especially if the rumors about the framerate of the Japanese release are true. I played Xillia recently on ps3 and must say, having the framerate drop so much your characters look like they're fighting underwater really kills enjoyment. The jaggies hurt my eyes as well.

From what I heard, the person who was thought to be the main heroine ends up leaving the party permanently in the main game, and is playable again in a dlc type expansion, which angered many. It actually sounds alot like what was done with Richard in Tales of Graces. Which does suck if she ends up being as awesome as Richard was.

yup thats the reason. They advertised her tons and I beleive even had a figure that labled her as the main heroine.

Steam Registry Entries happen all the time for games that don't release on Steam.

It's not something to put much stock in, not that I'm against a release. It's just more of a friendly heads up not to get excited.

There's been a huge wave of Japanese games on Steam lately. Well, for a free platform I suppose more is always better.

There is this thing called Steam. People use it. A lot of people use it. Millions in fact use it every day at the same time. I have over 20 games in my library that constantly have over 20k users at once and some well over 100k daily. As a matter of fact Steam has more sales than all your consoles combined counting any future releases till the end of this current generation.

I think I'm going to stick firmly with not buying a console this generation until it's over. Of course I did that with the PS3 last year and multiple games found their way to PC and PS4 within months of buying the PS3 version. Don't feel like buying the game twice to have it on my prefered platform. Just can't win it seems.

I'm already holding off on MGS Collection for PS3 incase it suddenly appears on PC around the time MGS V is out. At the same time it's nice to see more variety on Steam with games like this and the recent surge of interest from Japanese developers.

One of the last series I expected on PC. This is proof that everything WILL be on PC eventually. (excludes first party obviously)

P.S This is where we port beg for Tales of Vesperia on Steam?!?!?!?!

Honestly I am so bored now of Tales games, they are all the same. Vesperia was the high point of the series they should have just quit after that.

Is Tales still good? I really liked Symphonia, but haven't bothered since, since msot people didn't like the games after..

Vesperia was awesome. It was the last Tales game I finished. Ranked it right there with Tales of Destiny 2.

Didn't fully expect it, and Steam databases can be wrong abit, sometimes. Remember the Halo 3 entry?

But since Namco has been very supportive of PC lately, i wouldn't all that surprised.

For a global release, it would make sense. I mean, PC sales are rising, but i bet the ps4 version would still sell more for a series like Tales.

So if this is true, it'll probably come to the ps4. But who knows, maybe they just want to kick off the Tales series on PC for the sake of potential future entries.

I would like to see it come to PC.But as others noted, not every registry entry makes its way to the store.

Recent leaks haven't given us much reason to think that this will be another Total War: Caveman.

If this is true its a good start,but re-releasing vesperia on the PC would be awesome. Its so strange how the series never truly improved after vesperia...we are over a year into the next gen and tales of games are looking WORSE than a title released last gen.

SW4 seemed almost certain considering every Musou game has been coming to Steam. DW8, OP:PW3 and now, Bladestorm was found in the batabase too. After it was confirmed to be coming to PC aswell

However, Devil's Third? That's a Wii U exclusive. Unless Nintendo doesn't own the IP. Hm

Wonder if that Dragon Quest musou game will come to PC aswell.

Apparently Devil's Third IP is held by Valhalla Game Studios, which was formed from Team Ninja members, who have basically no history on PC. So unless they're planning a next- gen remaster sometime after the wii u version, that doesn't appear likely to be true.

Also this year old bit of news seems to indicate future "Tales of" titles will be ps4 exclusive. Of course, with Sony seemly not seeing PC as competition and the recent success of JRPG ports on steam, perhaps Namco's decided to test the waters for some extra income.

It's not really "exclusive" because of Sony. It's simply of matter of not wanting to make for the ps3 or the xbox consoles.

And this thing i keep reading about Sony, MS or Nintendo not seeing PC has competition is wrong since they don't put IPs they own on Steam.

So in Tales series case, since Sony isn't the owner, they can't really stop it from coming to PC should Namco wish it to happen. Unless some really aggressive deal is made, which i'm pretty sure hasn't happened.

there is no evidence that it sold better though. That it surpassed expectations on PC doesn't mean anything because they could of been "low expectations" but I doubt the game sold over a million on PC which is what sold on PS3. Very rarely a game sells better on PC than on consoles.

Of all Tales games, Zestria? Take what you can get I suppose...

Wait it sold a million on the ps3 yet no other games were release to the platform. Must have taken a while to hit a million mark. Is that why Sega make most of their money on PC now?
