I will at least post the full story, at the very least the latest update:

Update: A Microsoft representative responded to our requests, explaining that the company does not monitor private Skype conversations — however, "excessive profanity" in Upload Studio videos will result in suspensions.

"To be clear, the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement team does not monitor direct peer-to-peer communications like Skype chats and calls," the representative wrote. "Also, we take Code of Conduct moderation via Upload Studio very seriously. We want a clean, safe and fun environment for all users. Excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live. We remain committed to preserving and promoting a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all of our Xbox Live members."

It would seem the users who posted screenshots of their Skype application preventing them access received a full Xbox Live ban in another app, while reports of Upload Studio bans were potentially accurate. We've reached out to Microsoft again to find out how uploaded videos are being moderated, and will update this article with any additional information we receive.

I think it's more alarming that skype is placed behind a paywall than it is that Microsoft is giving people a 24 hour ban from XBLG for profanity.

There's no way this would be a mainstay of their XBLA user conduct protocols. I for one would refuse to use a paid for voice chat service where I'm not able to swear.

Yeah sure, if I'm in the party and there are kids in there I won't be swearing. But I usually game with adults, and swearing is just ... par for the course. Sometimes a swear word gets your message across more quickly.

Why they didn't consider adding a user/community regulated rating system for uploaded vids is beyond me, adults like to swear on occasion, being able to flag your video as having profanity would keep everyone happy, stupid MS.

This is for uploaded videos, not Skype. Any ToU infractions seem to incur a Gold ban, but for different periods of time.

So if you swear in a video that you post online through xbox you can get banned, and without live connection skype doesn't work. Well then don't swear for UPLOADED VIDEOS!

Still allows sweaing on private chats and even xbox live in game chat.

Yet another reason I loves my PC.

Don't have to pay $60 a year to

a. have voice communication

b. get banned for swearing on said communication

c. losing all my internet gaming&comms ability because I was swearing
