Sony is increasing YEARLY PS+ sub prices : 20$ more for Essential, 35$ for Extra and 40$ more for Premium

When i saw this thread, i thought to myself to get another year of ps+ before they increase the price, but then i remembered that the primary reason i even have PS+ is to play titles like the fromsoft games and MH, games where the majority of the community is always on PS. F this, not anymore. The next MH game is guaranteed to have crossplay and Lords of the fallen has crossplay as well, so really no reason to bother at a possible 720p sub 60fps when you can easily achieve good performance on a 6800 especially with fsr3 coming out in a week or two.

Really do hope that ps+ subs drop by so much that Sony goes into panic mode, but with the amount of dumb zoomers on the system, i doubt this will happen.

Yet gamepass just got starfield and cod.

What a stupid thing to do. With all the acquisitions Microsoft has been doing, now is not the time to raise prices on the subscriptions, Sony. I don't know if this is a Jim Ryan call but if it is then it's time for him to gtfo.

While there is some celebration in the GP subscribers camp, you wanna hope Sony cops a LOT of flack over this because you can bet your left nut that MS will be following this closely.

Yes they did raise the price by a $1 I think, Sony getting a free pass on this gives MS the incentive to raise its prices by 33%. And if Sony keep getting away with price hikes because people like you are always focused on the other guy, then Sony will continue to raise its prices, and thus MS will do the same.

Just the same vicious circle going round and round and everybody gets screwed except the 2 who deserve it the most Sony/MS for raising its prices.

$80 dollars a year for the "privilege" of playing the multiplayer portion of the game you purchased? For the ability to back up your game save online? To get access to mediocre game discounts and mediocre free games? ......make it make sense.

I wish I could cancel mine, but MW3 is just around the corner and all my friends are in PS. But this increase really sucks, specially when I don’t care about the games being offered, I just want to play multiplayer online.

Nearly 200 CAD for the most expensive tier of PS+ in canada. Even the lowest tier might cost over 100 CAD if you use currency converters. I hope sony backtracks from this price hike.

Current Sony is exactly what they were at the beginning of the 7th gen, the only difference is that they used to have games. And not just games to play, but also titles to look forward to.

That maybe, but it all falls down what you see the value between the service and only the consumers can decide.

But all jest aside. The issue to me is that Cloud saves are locked behind PS+ subs. And it's a pretty important feature to the average consumer. Cloud saves is free both on PC & Xbox. Lucky enough, I don't need games from PS+ sub as I prefer to buy my games anyway and I barely use Game Pass.
