The PlayStation Classic launched for $99.99 US DOLLARS! Currently it's prices at $39.99. Currently Target has a 35% off coupon, making it $25.99. The real punchline is that people still aren't buying it! This proves that Sony's first party games aren't as iconic as Nintendo's. The only people in denial at this point are cows.
It's because they picked a crappy selection of games. It's just like ps plus, on occasion they give you the good stuff but majority of the time they rather give you obscure to keep selling the good stuff
PS Classic was a classic piece of shit. It ran the pal versions of games. Its junk, total crash grab by Sony. It deserves to flop, I bet they still made money on it, feel bad for the people who pre ordered it lol

Not really. It just proved that Sony didn't know what they were doing with the Classic. For starters, the library selection wasn't all that great. They rushed it out expecting Nintendo to drop an N64 Classic last year, so trying to get licensing for some games in time was impossible. Then about half the games they did pick ended up being horribly emulated.

Facts, it was trash.
I still have my old PS1 and PS2 for when I want to play classic PS1 games.
I am just not falling for this classic console reproductions phase, would much rather see Sony build a library of classic titles for download on PS4. Even if they did that though I would proceed with caution given how they did nothing to honor rights to PS1/PS2 classics purchased on PS3, did nothing to bridge library on PS4, nor add to their great selection of titles they built on PS3 BC.

Poor selection of games, bad emulation, and no dualshocks.
Whoever was in charge of the project made some stupid decisions. Had it been done correctly we could have seen a rival to the Nintendo Classic consoles.
Oh well, maybe down the road. What I’d prefer is for them to just bring all the PS1/2/3 games to the store for PS5.

What's really sad is that the Sega Genesis Mini's list is looking way better than all of them, and they still have 10 more games to announce!
It’s really a piece of junk that’s why. I honestly wouldn’t take one for free. If it worked well right out of the box I would considee it for $35 but with all the work you gotta put in to making it decent I am better off with my raspberry pi.
I’m no Cow, but the hate and misinformation surrounding this product is maddening. The PlayStation Classic was a licensing nightmare for Sony because they don’t own the rights to the majority of the titles that made the PS1 a “classic.” That is why there are PAL versions of some games as well. Sony figured something was better than nothing and tried to cash in on the mini console craze that Nintendo was capitalizing on. It didn’t work. Let’s move on.
The sad thing is that it’s still too much for it. The thing really should have been a home run for Sony. The NES and SNES Classic Minis crap all over this thing.
Bad games, badly emulated, Sony isn't really getting Humiliated anyway. If you really want to play the "Classics" just wait, most of them are getting remakes anyway. C'mon Medieval.
It took Sony 20 years to make an iconic franchise and that was Uncharted. They rested on third party for the time before then. Heck, even Microsoft got Halo on the day they launched the first Xbox and then Gears like 5 years later. Sony is too slow.
Sigh.. old playstation owners had the ps one to have the current best of all worlds.
Not to strictly re visit those worlds 20 years later.
Unlike Nintendo's retro games, none of the ps games are gonna feel like calm indies to enjoy on the side
Hence the lack of sales
Meanwhile a current gen system went down in price just as fast lol
Ouch ???
Watch out bro, butthurt lems are gonna come for you ?
Imagine thinking I'm a lem. I'm more of a cow than a lem. I just have to laugh at the failure of Sony here. When they get delusional and start thinking they're Nintendo, then they **** up. Instead of being smart and taking the good inspiration of Nintendo (i.e. Zelda inspired God of War, which was great), they decide to copy them verbatim like they're not different companies. It's like a crazy and extroverted person making a biopic, they pull in a lot of money, so a more chill and introverted person tries it and fails. Then people start blaming the chill biopic failing on the structuring of the movie. No, it's just that people aren't likely to watch the movie of "a day in the life of an introverted person" unless something crazy/funny is happening to them. It's the same with Sony. The PS1 sold because of third party games. It gave them a leg up on Nintendo because they sold more. However, for a classic console, third party companies aren't going to get in bed with them. Why would Activision put Spyro on the PS1, when they can sell the trilogy for $60? Same with Konami and Symphony of the Night. This leaves Sony to get the shitty scraps from third party companies that aren't profitable on their own merrit, but their limited arsenal of 1st party games during that period. Even discounting the scraps... The PS1 Classic appeals to Sony fans. Sony fans most likely own a PS4. Why would they pay $99 for the privilege of playing FF7, when they can buy the remastered HD version for $60? Sony doesn't think of this stuff. They just try to copy Nintendo and hope to profit. Also, I honestly think the Classic would have worked out better if they did the PS2.

It could have been a rival, except, third party games have to be on board, which they weren't. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

That's very beautiful golden, but WRONG! People will continue to laugh when companies fail in an obvious way. We laughed at the Xbox One for having no first party games, we laughed at the Wii U for flopping, we laughed at the Switch online not having many users, and we will laugh at this.

The story of playstation. Most of the classic stuff are not owned by sony, even the damn mascot lol.
End. Fucking. Thread.

Not as humiliated as mr Crews was...
That was humiliating. This will teach Microsoft to stop half assing their first party games.
@luxuryheart: ? I know you're not a lem. I wasn't referring to you in that post, I was talking about rabid lems attracted to this thread reading that post and getting butthurt. I personally don't give a rat's ass about the PS1 Classic, I think it's a ripoff since I still own my original PS1 console.
Sony really doesn't care about their classics or history. The PlayStation classic, PlayStation all stars and their limited focus on backwards compatibility are proof.
Yeah, it was a God awful release. It's not really utterly humiliating, as at least it kinda worked. Why they added PAL versions, as well as their game choice... Who the hell knows?

Its an official Sony licensed product and it was half arsed, and Sony should be ashamed of trying to cash in on it. But hey its Sony so free pass, moving along.
