I don't get why people make such a big deal out of copying. If a company sees an idea that seems to reap benefits, most likely they will try to incorporate that idea into their own brand.
That said, people who think Sony and Microsoft don't copy are delusional.
[QUOTE="sargentbotk"]But the good thing about that, is that it's optional :). I can choose to take that off anytime if it takes too much space. As for that 360 controller, you have to keep that on lol.gensigns
yeeeah...... about that....
What about it?
So what is they copied Microsoft with that add-on, it doesn't matter. Every company copies off of each other. That's mostly how things get better and better. Anyways, both are a bit useful, but I doubt I'll be buying any of them right now.
I hope they'd just copy MS where it really matters...A damn standard headset...

That actually is very well-designed IMO.
Not sure how anyone can type on that. How do you hold it to type, I wonder.

I never buy those add ons. why have a mini keyboard on a gaming controller?

That's where I beg to differ.
I find this one to be well-designed, because the keyboard is on the top and you don't have to maneuver around it to play. It's more out of the way than the Microsoft one.
I feel the Microsoft one is too fat and the keyboard would be more cumbersome at the bottom.

TenP
I'm sure you could slide your hands up on it and type with it like people do with those text messaging contraptions. I don't think it'll be difficult at all, just awkward.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. But just the thought of sliding your hands up to reach would feel a little uncomfortable.
Everyone copes everyone.
A dude at Microsoft actually said, and I quote:
"Where other than Xbox live could you introduce the concept of an Avatar and have it immediately grow into a community of 10s of millions of people"
So they all suck at originality so thread failed.

I must say, sir, I had quite a good lol at your sig. That is priceless.

I personally think the Xbox one would work better, the keypad is in easy reach of your thumbs. But silly ol' Microsoft had to go and grab the patent. :P
Well, if I would use the thing rarely, so I'd be more concerned with it not getting in the way. The Sony keyboard seems to not consume much of the controller, whereas the Microsoft one makes the controller seem really huge.
But I guess it'd just be wiser to just not to buy the damn things.
The PS3 one seems wierd, it might be too top heavy.
ArisShadows
But the keyboard itself looks fairly light and slim.

Looks uncomfortable to use. I like how the 360 one is on the bottom.
360 mini-keyboard looks better.
If you're gonna copy something try to make it better in one way or another.

Have you ever played with one on? It fits almost flush with the controller's grip and you rarely notice it on. Ever since I bought it, it's been on my controller. Hardly notice the difference when playing elsewhere without one on. Very useful too, as I use WLM a lot.

SpinoRaptor
Better in what way? Appearance? Tech? Tech wise it is better. There a motion tracker thingy like a mouse built onto the PS3 key pad for internet browsing. Sounds better to me.
Also, TC thank you for reminding us of something that 95% of System Wars already knew :).
ookk i don't see the argument because we know companies copy each other. ff7isnumbaone
Both accesories are a ripoff.. both consoles have USB ports..u can use a normal keyboard..MojondeVACAThe Xbox Chatpad is actually quite cheap. I was looking at buying a headset to replace my broken one... a 360 headset by itself is $25, but a headset + keyboard is $30. So the keyboard is only a $5 premium. So I bought it. It does a good job.
I beg to differ..talk about copying the competition..

Oh and nobody says Sony doesn't copy others, it's pretty obvious everyone copies everyone, Nintendo is the one that copies the least, for better of for worse.
Everyone copies everyone, dont they?
Well except Nintendo... at the moment I can no joke think of anything they've really copied off of the PS3 and 360 much... maybe the "Home" button on the Wii Mote? I have no clue.
But the good thing about that, is that it's optional :). I can choose to take that off anytime if it takes too much space. As for that 360 controller, you have to keep that on lol.sargentbotk
No, you don't. It comes right off quite easily if you don't want it on there (and I don't). I usually clip it on when I want to send a text message and take it right back off after I'm done.
