Sony Confirms 100 games "planned" to release 2014.

With the PS4 launch line up having largely been branded as underwhelming by consumers and critics alike, with the console exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall the only major highlight, Sony has revealed that gamers will be offered a much broader array of content over the coming 12 months.

Making the announcement via its official PlayStation Twitter feed, Sony declared: “Here's a fun fact: More than 100 PS4 games are planned for release in 2014.”

Although promising a mass of new PS4 games over the coming year, Sony has yet to detail any new details, with further title announcements expected to be made during E3 2014 in June.

At present bitter rival Microsoft has yet to detail how many new Xbox One games owners of the next-gen console can expect this year.

With a broad array of games sure to boost console sales, earlier this week industry analysts with DFC Intelligence predicted than both the PS4 and Xbox One will exceed 100 million console sales during the lifecycle of the devices.

Despite joint lofty predictions, it has been suggested that the PS4 currently has the edge over its Microsoft-branded rival.

“Price and strength in Europe give the PlayStation 4 a slight edge,” DFC’s researches noted.”

If these games actual come out than I will have to say, the wait was worth it. Waiting 3 months for games is much better than waiting for 3 years.

Also, apparently PS4 and Xbox will sell over 100 million. (other sources say the prediction is by 2020.)

@Jakandsigz: I'm just wondering how many of these games are Indie games and how many are actual exclusive full titles. Only Indie titles I care about on PS4 are Rime, Helldivers and No Man's Sky. If any of these games are in that 100, I'll be happy. I'm sure XB1 will be getting most of these games, plus they still have a slew of their own exclusives to launch this year as well.

How many exclusive non Indy games? Doesn't matter, none of them can compete with Xbox one exclusives IMO.

That's a nice number. But as always, that number will get reduced once the year gets going. Development usually takes longer than expected. And if they're Japanese developers, they seem to fall way behind. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what they have planned for the big gaming conferences.

What they didn't tell you: most are indie games.

Pretty sure drive club was supposed to be here by now...promises promises promises.

Anyway lets not pretend....half of these titles will be undies. I hate it when Sony and MS do this....cut the bull and give us some real information.

pfft games already out like Killer Instinct and Crimson Dragon. If youre a KI fan and played Panzer Dragoon as a kid on the Sega Saturn then those game alone should interest you WAY more than anything Sony is offering this year. Titanfall comes out next month, one of the most anticpated games of 2014. Halo is set for 2014. Theirs already a good overhead Halo game for download. What more do you need for 2014?

Ha, I remember them saying the exact same thing early on with the PS3... not sure if they made good on that promise or not, but obviously most of those "100 games" weren't worth a mention.

Not sure why companies feel the need to say this stuff, everyone knows that launch year is a rough one. Showing us a handful of good exclusives means much more than telling us a big number with nothing to back it up.

They said this about the PS3 and they were no where near that number. But the fans will eat this up, give me a list of names for those 100 games and maybe we can believe this.

Anywho, I agree in a way that it's quite underwhelming, but then again; reading game titles from a list is obviously much more bland than actually seeing the games in action so perhaps i'm just jumping the gun waay far ahead.

Regardless, i'm excited for whats to come for the future of the PS4.

But like i said, it's easy to be underwhelmed by list of names.

Once you see gameplay, however, i'm sure the perception would be MUCH different - provided the game looks awesome.

At 1st this was amusing. Then it's just meh and now it's just plain annoying. You'd think years of this crap would be enough but it's looking like it'll never stop.

won't buy a console based on upcoming games. once the more appealing games are out on these consoles, i might be convinced.

PSN does not have arcade, it's just PSN.
